Rob's Weekly Radio Hour: Chained Melodies

Would you be interested in tuning in once a week to a radio program with a playlist curated by me?

The concept I have in mind is one of "Chained Melodies."

In the show, I'll name two seemingly unrelated musical acts and the show will connect them step by step on the basis of who played with whom, forming something of a chain.

If there's any interest in this sort of thing, I'd be willing to host it in our Walrus channel in Discord from 7pm to 8pm ET on a given weeknight.

I made a poll of weekdays. If you're interested, vote for any days that would suit you.

I believe TSP is going to be hosting Wednesdays at the same time for the foreseeable future, so I have omitted that day of the week.

Great. It looks like Tuesday works best. Tomorrow is too short of a turnaround. So I'll start this August 29th. I'll reveal here before then who the two end pieces are.

Join us for volume 3 this evening at 7pm ET. :)

Tonight, we light up the connections between Canadian power trio Rush and... singer-songwriter Norah Jones. It's quite the journey, taking us through multiple countries all in under an hour, so I hope you can tune in!

Our little hopscotch this evening begins with the synth pop duo The Buggles and concludes with the remarkable Kishi Bashi! As always, we stay under the one-hour mark. Hope to see you there!

Another eight pack for Tuesday!

This time, we go from the eccentric mind of Frank Zappa to the 90s Christian staple dc Talk in under an hour. Yes, it's weirder than you think.

Let's make it three eight packs in a row! Show starts at 7pm ET in the Walrus reveal channel.

Tonight's program takes us from Motown legend Marvin Gaye all the way to Japanese virtuoso Hiromi. We get there in eight tracks and, as always, under the one-hour mark. As my favorite DJ puts it, "Some ya know, some ya don't."

Don't think I forgot about you! 7pm ET as always in the Walrus reveal channel in Discord.

Tonight we're going from easy-listening (and Psychic Friends Network Guru) Dionne Warwick to legendary Canterbury band Khan. We get there in under 60 minutes, so I hope you will join us if you've an hour to spare this evening.

Look forward to seeing folks in the Walrus reveal channel in Discord at 7pm ET tonight.

You might not know the bookends, but you'll know plenty of names (and songs) in between. Tonight we start with Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project and end up hearing from All India Radio. As I said, lots of familiar musicians in there, and as I always promise, we keep it under one hour. Hope to see you!

Special shoutout to @S~V~S for the idea.

We are having a Halloween themed radio show on MONDAY (not Tuesday) starting at 7pm ET. That's October 30th. Same format, same concept, under 60 minutes... but very spooky! :werewolf:

We'll be having a second special edition of "Chained Melodies" in a row tonight. Yesterday was Eloh's 41st birthday! In honor of that, all songs tonight will be things she likes or likely will like. No long-form progressive rock or heavy metal in this one! Tonight we go from gone-too-soon country contralto Patsy Cline to Jewel.

Hope to see you all there!

Given that we ended the last show with a Radiohead cover (a really cool one!), I think it's only fair we kick things off with Radiohead proper. In under an hour, we'll end up in Atlanta, Georgia to hear from American hip hop duo Outkast. The show begins at 7pm ET. Hope you see you around!

I hope you can join me for the final radio show of the year. We'll be hosting family after all next Tuesday, so this will be the last one. For today, we'll move away from our usual "connect-the-dots" format in favor of a deep cuts holiday music affair. Fix yourself a mug of hot cocoa (or a snifter of brandy, if that's your thing), and settle in at 7pm ET in the reveal channel tonight to listen to Christmas / holiday/ winter tunage that you probably won't hear in the shopping malls. 🎄

I've got tonight's show ready to go. This evening at 7pm ET, we'll be linking Celtic rock band Bad Haggis to the late King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. While there's a lot of twists and turns, this is definitely a "some you know, some you don't" set.

Toby Keith passed away recently, so we'll kick tonight's show off with one of his hits, and in under an hour, we'll end up hearing from the Dixie Dregs. We'll be visiting many genres: Country, southern rock, metal, new age, and jazz rock fusion. Hope to see you around in the reveal chat in Discord at about 7:30pm ET.
