Prologue: A New Beginning.
Lorraine Warren sat in her chair, sipping some tea. Lost in her memories, she had allowed the tea to go tepid. Surrounded in her house of artifacts, should could feel Ed's presence with her. She missed him so much that she could barely stand it. She thought about him first thing when she got up in the morning, and the last thing before she fell asleep at night. Still, when in their cabinet of curiosities room, she could appreciate the demonology work they had done over the decades, and it gave her solace.

Lorraine's peaceful reverie was shattered by the ringing of the house phone. She wondered briefly if it was her daughter phoning her to report about their vacation to Block Island, but as soon as she thought it, she knew it wasn't true.

"This is Lorraine Warren speaking."

"Oh, yes. Good morning, Mrs. Warren. This is Ivy Fiorentino from The Village Voice. We are interested in doing a retrospective of you and your most prominent cases over the years," she said.

"Hello, dear. I'd be happy to help you, but I don't know why you would want to do a feature on an old woman like me. Ed and I, we just did the lord's work, combatting evil when the need arose."

"That's what I find so fascinating about you, Mrs. Warren. Evil is more prolific in our world than ever. I guess you heard about the alleged possession in Lexington," Ivy continued.

"Yes, I heard Father Fortea was approached to do a cleansing of that house," Lorraine responded.

"It's not just that, Mrs. Warren. The woman's name is Aria Loy. She says you've helped her before. Her maiden name was --"

Lorraine cut her off. "Nykvist. Her name was Aria Nykvist." Lorraine's vision began to swirl. Feeling dizzy, she slunk down into the chair behind her.

"She needs your help again, Ms. Warren."

"I never speak about that case," Lorraine managed to say.

"Her whole family is in a state of peril. She has has a son, Anson, who has been hospitalized due to lack of restful sleep. She needs you. You are the only one who can help her. Father Fortea has already agreed to help her." The frustration started to show in Ivy' voice. "She's asked me to contact you while she is at the hospital with her son. They should be releasing him tomorrow morning."

"I need time to think about this." Lorraine said, her voice quiet.

Ivy's voice softened. "I can imagine this is very hard for you. I understand that this is the only case you and Ed would never speak about, either with the press or even your own friends. That's gotta be hard on the psyche."

"She's got a son, you say?" Lorraine asked.

"Yes, he's 5. A real bright boy, loves trains and dinosaurs." Ivy said.

"I need to find my notes. I'll call you back within the hour with my answer." Lorraine stated.

She hung up the phone and went to her library. Between two large, black bookcases was a small nook. The sort of unused space that you wouldn't even notice if you weren't looking for it. Lorraine slid her withered hand into the crevice and pulled out a dusty, aged folder.

Knocking the dust off, she read the label: "The Pleasant Terrace File."

"Oh, Ed, if I ever needed you..."

Lorraine took the folder to her kitchen and set it down on the table. She opened it to a set of portraits. Fingering each one, she laid them out in a line. The last photo was of The Warrens with the Nykvist family.

Patting the table resolutely, she put the kettle on.

She picked up the phone, steeling her nerve.

"Ivy, I'll be there."

It is now Day 1.
You have 24 hours to help Lorraine find the demon that is once again haunting Aria's family.

Great question. We will have 3 days and 3 nights, which will be 24 hours each. So 24 hours for day and then 24 hours for night.

For fun, if anyone is interested in the topic, here are some videos (these are totally not required viewing, by the way).

Probably the most famous case on Paranormal Witness, "I am 6" -- here is a clip of the "exorcism":

Bio Channel's Special on Paranormal Events, Including Possessions. Allegedly shows video and photographic evidence:

A 3-min clip of Padre Fortea, who is probably the world's most famous exorcist:

I can only guarantee that 5/6 of the players are civs, which means it's nearly certain we don't get the baddie first off. I could be wrong, though. We one a game in one lynch before.

Special Event.

Special Event.

Many people believe that the allegedly possessed are simply mad (but we all know that isn't always so).

Hence, a game of Mad Libs was in order.

Each player sent me a list of words, and here are those stories created from those words. I have underlined the words the individual player sent to me. They did not know the story in advance.

1. Mister Rearranger's Story

Vomps, bea, A Person, Mister Rearranger, MetalMarsh89 and their Great Dane thellama73 were out on another caper in their stupendous mystery van.

They pulled up to a haunted thong and unloaded from the vehicle.

"Whoa, this place is drunk!" remarked bea.

"I think it will have lots of mysterious flippers," declared Vomps.

"Let's go in and stomp and hug all over the place," said A Person.

Everyone agreed and went inside.

thellama73 barked at all the flamboyant balloons.

Mister Rearranger offered him an odorous dog treat in order to get him to act more partially. He ate it happily.

"Wow, I think I found something!" shouted Metalmarsh89.

"What is it?" asked bea.

"Is it a plumber?" asked A Person.

"I bet it's a magical clue," mused Mister Rearranger.

"I like ducks," whimpered thellama73.

"Oh mystery solved!" said Vomps. It's just an old galactic swordfish!"

Everyone laughed and went home happy.

Image

2. Llama's story

Vomps, bea, A Person, Mister Rearranger, MetalMarsh89 and their Great Dane thellama73 were out on another caper in their bellicose mystery van.

They pulled up to a haunted mannequin and unloaded from the vehicle.

"Whoa, this place is baleful!" remarked bea.

"I think it will have lots of mysterious Zulus," declared Vomps.

"Let's go in and excoriate and bamboozle all over the place," said A Person.

Everyone agreed and went inside.

thellama73 barked at all the noisome gewgaws.

Mister Rearranger offered him an ubiquitous dog treat in order to get him to act more insufferably. He ate it happily.

"Wow, I think I found something!" shouted Metalmarsh89.

"What is it?" asked bea.

"Is it a persiflage?" asked A Person.

"I bet it's a matutinal clue," mused Mister Rearranger.

"I like Succubi," whimpered thellama73.

"Oh mystery solved!" said Vomps. It's just an old Byzantine Euphonium!"

Everyone laughed and went home happy.

3. Vompatti's Story

Vomps, bea, A Person, Mister Rearranger, MetalMarsh89 and their Great Dane thellama73 were out on another caper in their succulent mystery van.

They pulled up to a haunted magnet and unloaded from the vehicle.

"Whoa, this place is obtuse!" remarked bea.

"I think it will have lots of mysterious shoes," declared Vomps.

"Let's go in and multiply and examine all over the place," said A Person.

Everyone agreed and went inside.

thellama73 barked at all the seedy edges.

Mister Rearranger offered him a translucent dog treat in order to get him to act more somewhat. He ate it happily.

"Wow, I think I found something!" shouted Metalmarsh89.

"What is it?" asked bea.

"Is it an oak?" asked A Person.

"I bet it's a red clue," mused Mister Rearranger.

"I like poles," whimpered thellama73.

"Oh mystery solved!" said Vomps. It's just an old buoyant drone!"

Everyone laughed and went home happy.

4. Metalmarsh's Story

Vomps, bea, A Person, Mister Rearranger, MetalMarsh89 and their Great Dane thellama73 were out on another caper in their alluring mystery van.

They pulled up to a haunted slice of Rye bread and unloaded from the vehicle.

"Whoa, this place is murky!" remarked bea.

"I think it will have lots of mysterious tidal waves," declared Vomps.

"Let's go in and plug and travel all over the place," said A Person.

Everyone agreed and went inside.

thellama73 barked at all the viscous craniums.

Mister Rearranger offered him a robust dog treat in order to get him to act more gladly. He ate it happily.

"Wow, I think I found something!" shouted Metalmarsh89.

"What is it?" asked bea.

"Is it Worcestershire sauce?" asked A Person.

"I bet it's a new clue," mused Mister Rearranger.

"I like indexes," whimpered thellama73.

"Oh mystery solved!" said Vomps. It's just an old illegible garden!"

Everyone laughed and went home happy.

Sorry, I should have made win conditions clear. Rookie host mistake!

Civs: To win, The Demon must be dead. If you lynch him on Day 1, you've won.

Demon: All civs but one must be eliminated.

Ah, that changes things. We could force a stalemate, but I don't think anyone wants that. Let's lynch someone then. Was Vompatti making a daring double bluff? I wouldn't put it past him. A Person's avatar remains distractingly cute. One of those two, I think.
