I just saw the headlines. He's next up on my Rock and Roll Hall of Fame listening list. You've got to give credit to these stars of yesterday who manage to live long lives. Too many talented musicians have their lives cut short.

Not exactly news, but Toehider (my first submission to SAW) now has a Patreon thing going where he just constantly makes music and stuff. I'm a patron, and it's pretty well-updated so far.

Oh wow, sad to say I thought he was gone years ago. I saw him in the Village in the 80's one time. He made the standard Village jazz bands seem like garage bands.
RIP.

I happened to click on an article this morning about a body that was found washed up on the shore in Scotland. It belonged to this man:

Hardly news, but an intriguing discovery on my part:
Tales from Topographic Oceans by Yes is my favorite album. Yet, until just a few minutes ago, I had no idea that a section of "The Revealing Science of God" was originally conceived during the Fragile sessions. It gives a glimpse of what direction Tales from Topographic Oceans might have taken with Bruford behind the kit, and Rick Wakeman sneaks in a riff that would form the basis of "Siberian Khatru." I had known all along that several motifs present on Tales from Topographic Oceans were borrowed from previous Yes albums; I had no idea that an entire passage was conceived as early as 1971.

he seems to have just done exactly what he sang about 11 years ago
this song is the biggest musical gut punch ever now.
I've got a real indication that I'm gonna be picking that up.
What's your opinion of Lynch's musical projects? They're certainly interesting, if nothing else.

Besides the stuff that's been on Twin Peaks / the soundtracks, and I guess what he did with Julee Cruise (Floating into the Night) I'm not familiar. So far so good.

Here's his self-directed music video for the instant classic "Crazy Clown Time" off of the album Crazy Clown Time.

RIP Eddie Money. Time to turn in one of those tickets to paradise.
I have to admit, the first I think I ever heard of John Prine was when he was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a year or two ago.
Will have to listen to some songs of his to see if I recognize them.

I was just talking about Ennio Morricone with a friend last night, said I was gonna pick up some recorders and try to make some pieces in his style for fun. Woke up to the news. And Charlie Daniels, too. Music has lost two great names today.

That's been out a month hasn't it?
I haven't bought it yet. I wasn't wild about the last one, but the samples I heard from the new one sound promising.

I just found out about it. I didn't care for The Prelude Implicit either, but based on the little I've had time to listen to, I'm hopeful for the new one.

The Tipping Point, new album by Tears for Fears (first one in 17 years) released today.
On the drive home I remembered this and flipped over to First Wave on Sirius XM, thinking they might be playing some of it. Indeed, there was an interview with TFF followed by the title track.
It sounded like 1990s King Crimson initially, then it was like prime Tears for Fears. I don't think they'll ever top Songs from the Big Chair, but this song came damn close. Very impressive.

It should be renamed to the "This singer is now dead thread"
