I think if people miss their actions, they simply do nothing that round. No sense letting them hold the rest of us hostage (oops! Bad metaphor for this game!) while we wait for them.

I don't disagree with this.

What is there to discuss? This is widely acknowledged fact.

My favorite characters have evolved a lot over the years, but I think my current favs show a certain mature appreciation of subtle comedy. They are Milhouse and Superintendent Chalmers.

"I thought you said we were having steamed clams."
"Oh no, I said steamed hams. That's what I call hamburgers."
"You call hamburgers steamed hams?"
"Yes, it's a regional dialect."
"What region?"
"Upstate New York."
"Well I'm from Albany and I've never heard the expression steamed hams."
"Oh no, not in Albany. It's more of a Utica thing."
"Uh huh. And you call them steamed hams, despite the fact that they are obviously grilled."

My favorite characters have changed over the years, but I think if I had to pick two, I'd go with Nelson and Mr. Burns.

Also, my wife is THE QUEEN OF THE HARPIES.

Well, I know it is, but I've been a Simpsons fan for years (I was raised on the show, thanks to my dad), so I'll take advantage of any opportunity to discuss any aspect of it.

Definitely one of my favorite Skinner and Chalmers moments there.

Everything's coming up Milhouse!

My two favorites... man, that's so difficult. I'd say Mr. Burns and Krusty the Clown.

"Oooh, so Mother Nature needs a favor?! Well maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys! Nature started the fight for survival, and now she wants to quit because she’s losing. Well I say ‘hard cheese.’" - Mr. Burns

I like Mr. Burns because his evil rants are eerily persuasive. It' a good reminder that evil people never think they are evil. Their actions have a certain logic in their own heads. Another of my favorites:
"Why should the race always go to the swift or the jumble to the quick-witted? Why should they succeed simply because of the gifts God gave them? I say, cheating is the gift man gives himself!"

He kind of has a point.

Two Simpsons jokes stick out in my mind as being my favorite kind of joke. It's when a character has clearly missed an opportunity, but nobody except the audience notices.

1. Arnie Pye, the traffic reporter has a show called "Arnie in the Sky."
2. The founder of Shelbyville's name is Shelbyville Manhattan.

I don't know why, but these two jokes make me laugh endlessly, and they are made better by the fact that no one ever points them out. They just sort of slide by unless you're paying attention.

One final scene before bed that never fails to reduce me to tears of laughter for its sheer stupidity.
Bart is confronting an animatronic Smokey the Bear, who asks:
"Only who can prevent forest fires?"
Bart presses a button labeled "You" instead of the one labeled "Me."
Smokey: "You have selected 'you,' referring to me. That is incorrect. The correct answer is 'you.'"
