Grapefruit is my favorite fruit. I can eat it and eat it and eat it for days, getting something like a billion percent of my recommended Vitamin C allowance. It is so good. I peel it and eat it like an orange. None of this cutting it in half business for me.

I would have thought it was cherries! You know, I almost said in my post that I don't split them and pour sugar on top. I love the way peeling a grapefruit feels, probably because the peel is so thick. I separate it into segments and eat it that way. No sweetener needed. I like white grapefruit over red.

I'm glad I'm not on any Rx or I'd be in trouble since it seems to mess up every Rx ever.

I once made a grapefruit balsamic glaze for asparagus. I use it anywhere I'd use OJ, which I find too sweet.

I made a grapefruit pie once, which was not an unqualified success.

Have you ever made candied grapefruit peel? It's easy and incredibly delicious.

I've had a grapefruit pie, but it was kinda like a key lime pie. I've not had candied grapefruit peel, but I tend not to like candied things. I definitely like sweet things, but never for breakfast and never too sweet. I think that's why citrus flavors are always my fave. I think grapefruit paired with vanilla is amaze! Zevia has a great grapefruit soda if I want to splurge on a beverage.

I had kind of a big lunch (panko-battered oven-fried tofu fingers with a side of roasted brussel sprouts served with balsamic glaze and then a gigantic grapefruit), so I'm chilling tonight with a spinach salad (spinach, blueberry vinaigrette, green olives, beets, cukes and like one whole huge tomato).

Have you ever had the Salty Dog? It's a greyhound with margarita salt on the rim of the glass. Lots of my greyhound drinkers back home would get them in the summer when they wanted the extra salt for hydration purposes. :)

I haven't! I'm not sure I'd like it though - salted rims tend to make me a bit queasy but that's a great idea!

I had one of those Chobani flips and I bought it because it was Peach with some pistachio seeds. What I didn't see was that there was also dark chocolate bits in the little flip cup as well. The dark chocolate totally takes over the flavor of the peach. I don't recommend this one at all. I had a pina colada type one yesterday that was quite good. I have a blueberry chia saved for tomorrow. I eat these like desserts because they have soooo much sugar. At least they have a good amount of protein (about 15g).

oh - yea - dark chocolate with peach just doesn't seem like a good combo. Peaches are so light in flavor. I'd say at *best* milk chocolate.

*puts on thinking cap* - I wonder how white chocolate and peach would taste. Would it be like a jacked up peaches-n-cream? :ponder:

For brunch today for myself I made two eggs over medium served on top of grits with some hollandaise sauce on top. I made cherry-limeade pancakes for my husband. I can't do sweet in the mornings.

For the third day in a row, he is refusing to make me coffee, so we are having iced Earl Grey lattes.

I knoooooow right. I will do anything to avoid taking pain meds, and caffeine usually works for that, so I manipulated him into making me coffee around 1:30pm for "health reasons."

He makes it in the French press and it's sooo good. Roles are swapped in our house cause the American makes the tea and the Brit makes the coffee.

For fries, I quite like mixing mayonnaise and mustard together. Sometimes mere malt vinegar is a good choice.

Mustard is usually sufficient for the burger, as it allows me to taste the meat, but sometimes barbecue sauce is a nice touch if I am feeling my Texan roots. Buffalo sauce is an alternative option as well, as is bleu cheese dressing, or simple mayonnaise (which I find goes well with everything.)

There is a whole world of sauces out there more interesting than ketchup.

Okay, okay, let's not paint me as some sort of backwards hick who would pour ketchup all over a perfect prime rib or something (if I ate meat). I think you'd be quite pleased with my collection of non-ketchup condiments. I'm a big fan of flavored aiolis for sandwiches and burgers, and I often dip tofu fingers (yeah yeah) into Buffalo or BBQ or fun mustards.

However, there's sometimes when you just need some ketchup. I have this lovely habanero ketchup that's slamming on this spicy sweet potato tater tots I have. Or if I make breakfast potatoes. There's this local place called Evos that has four kinds of flavored ketchup, including cayenne, mesquite, garlic and lemon, yum. Burger 21 has marshmallow ketchup, Thai ketchup and a ginger option.

Ketchup may not be something I always use, but I feel more safe and secure knowing it's around.

Do you like Stilton?

An English pub here is considering adding a Ploughman's to its menu. I am campaigning heavily for them to do so.

I like White Stilton a lot. The only time I had Blue Stilton I thought it was disgusting, but I think I'd like to try it again, as I have had a great deal more cheese since then and I feel my taste buds are more receptive now than they were at the time.

Other English cheeses I enjoy include Double Gloucester, Wensleydale and Sage Derby.

My favorite cheese joke follows, although it really doesn't work unless read out loud with the right inflection.

Q: What kind of cheese do you use to lure a bear out of its cave?
A: Camembert!

French mother sauces are hilarious to me, as a southerner. They sound so fancy, yet we call two of them "gravy." :haha:

I do not get the appeal of sliders. It seems like less food but more calories.
