Microbiology Mafia: Mafia under the Microscope

Microbiology Mafia:
Mafia Under the Microscope :nicenod:
This will be a mafia game mirrored on the real world of Microbiology (what I do for a living!).

At the start of the game, almost every single role will be civvie. In a normal, healthy individual, all kinds of potentially bad bugs (pathogens) live in harmony with the good bugs around them. These pathogens are called opportunistic, waiting for a change in their local environment to start causing problems. Think of them as enemy agents waiting for a signal to activate their cell.

The Flora (I'll determine the proper number as I build the game, but I'm aiming for 30)

Gram positive cocci

1. Abiotrophia
2. Aerococcus
3. Enterococcus
4. Micrococcus
5. Rothia
6. Staphylococcus aureus
7. Staphylococcus epidermidis
8. Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Strep)
9. Streptococcus anginosis
10. Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A Strep)
11. Streptococcus pneumoniae

Gram positive bacilli

12. Bacillus
13. Corynebacterium

Gram negative bacilli

14. Citrobacter
15. Enterobacter
16. Escherichia coli
17. Klebsiella
18. Proteus
19. Salmonella
20. Shigella

Non-fermenters

21. Moraxella catarrhalis
22. Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Fastidious

23. Eikenella
24. Haemophilus influenzae
25. Neisseria gonorrhoeae
26. Neisseria meningitidis

Anaerobes

27. Bacteroides fragilis
28. Clostridium
29. Lactobacillus
30. Proprionibacterium

All of the above will begin the game as a civvie.

However, all of the roles live inside of the body of a person, and that person is about to begin getting sick. Sadly, he or she is getting sick with a virus, only the Doctor isn't going to realize that and prescribe antibiotics, which is a massively common mistake.

31. The Over-treating Doctor - will have a list of antibiotics to choose from. Every night, The Doctor will prescribe the patient one of them. Each will target the patient's normal flora in a specific way - potentially killing certain roles, and in the process, allowing certain others to opportunistically become baddies.

Luckily, as the patient gets sicker, they access good ol' Dr. Mom for help.

32. Dr. Mom - This role will have a handful of home remedies to access, all learned from good ol' Mom. Every night, they will choose one to use. These will include probiotics, gargling with salt water, things like that. None of them will actually treat the original viral problem, but that's okay, the body will fix that on its own. These remedies will counteract the problems that the Doctor causes, instead. Each will have different effects, causing some civ roles to change and earn powers.

Neither The Over-treating Doctor, or Dr. Mom can be lynched or Night-killed before a to-be-determined-later point in the game.

As roles become pathogens, they will either become inidivual bad roles, or join into BTSC groups, that will be determined later as I build the game.

I will be bringing in every aspect of my job into the way the "patient" feels each day. For the baddies to win, the patient must die from an untreatable infection (yes, some roles will become superbugs). Or, in standard terms, they must outnumber the civvies. For the civvies to win, they must either return their host patient to good health, or lynch all of the baddies.

More to follow, and this game will be way in the future, as it will be ready for the NEXT poll, and who knows when that will be!

Can Staphylococcus aureus be triggered to become MRSA and become an SK? Because that would be awesome.

I don't know shit about science, but I can totally get behind this- it seems like something that you enjoy, which probably translates to a better hosting experience as well!
