As Nadine's father told her when she was a lass, paratroopers descending from the sky this time of year can only mean one thing: the Soviets were coming.

She studied her reflection carefully, eyes tracing every line her life had written on her face, and brushed away a single tear.

However, due to the nature of time and space, what she saw in the mirror was not, in fact, herself, but her past self, delivered onto the retinae of her eyes with a delay of fragments of a nanosecond, a period too miniscule for a laywoman such as herself to measure accurately without a proper equipment.

As her camera lens focused on the large furry creature in front of her, she realized this was not a bear at all, it was a costume!
