GAMEPLAY & RULES
Gameplay
1. Days are 48 hours. At the end of each Day, the player with the most votes will be lynched, and that player will have his or her role revealed. If instead a majority of the players select "NO LYNCH", no player will be lynched. Before the end of each Day, you must cast your vote. A missing vote will negatively impact your Participation Score (see: Participation). Mafia do NOT have BTSC during Days.
2. Nights are 24 hours. During this time the thread will be locked. The mafia will gain BTSC and submit a kill. The civilian cop will send in the name of a player to check. At the end of each Night, one player will be nightkilled, and that player will have his or her role revealed.
3. All game conversation must take place in the thread unless you are a member of the mafia. Mafia may only engage in BTSC during Nights.
4. All votes must be cast in the poll to count. It is considered standard and good form to simultaneously post and bold your vote, but it is not necessary for your vote to count.
5. All votes are changeable. You may change your vote as many times as you wish up until the vote's deadline.
6. Civilians win if they have eliminated the Mafia. Mafia win if they have outnumbered the Civilians.
7. If your faction wins, you win, regardless of whether you are dead or alive at endgame. Do your best! Fight for your faction's win condition. Players who fail to meet participation criteria will be denied a win.
8. At the end of this game, all players will vote on an MVP. The player with the most votes will be crowned MVP of Pet Sounds Mafia and will be eligible to play The Syndicate's very first All-Star Heist Game.
9. Your Participation Score (P-Score) will be adversely affected if you fail certain participation criteria. Refer to the guidelines on Participation for more detail. In addition, upon failure of participation criteria, you may be forcibly replaced or modkilled if you have not corresponded with both hosts.
10. The Mod on Duty for this game is Epignosis. He is there for any of your questions or concerns not strictly related to game or role mechanics. Please PM him with any grievances or concerns you may have at any time, notably including conflicts with other players. Keep the thread fun and clean of emotionally-charged drama or conflicts; PM Epignosis instead. I want to keep this game as fun as possible for everyone.

Rules
1. Be respectful and remember that this is a game. Although mafia is a game of deception and can be rather heated, recognize that the game is not personal and that your friends may be lying to you in the spirit of the game. Please treat your fellow players with respect, even if you suspect or strongly disagree with them.
2. No BTSC (Behind the Scenes Contact/Conversation) with anyone. Do not talk about the game with anyone outside the thread, in any capacity, except for the hosts or the Mod on Duty or any BTSC. If you are unsure whether you have BTSC, that means you do not have it.
3. No editing or deleting of posts.
4. Role outing and info-dumping is acceptable.
5. Songs and roles are all assigned randomly. Songs are irrelevant to alignment. Everything is fully randomized. Mafia have not been given fake song claims because it isn't necessary. You may claim your song if you like.
6. Self-voting is permitted.
7. Dead players should not post on-topic and any posts made should be in dead red. There is a "dead" code for this function.
8. Off-topic posts should be in off-topic green. There is an "OT" code for this function.
9. Posts from non-players should be off-topic and any posts made should be in non-player blue. There is a "np" code for this function.
10. This is your host's color. All of your host's posts will be in this color. Don't use it!

PARTICIPATION
The following behavior constitutes non-participation:

- If you do not post at all during 1 entire Day cycle.
- If you do not cast a vote in 2 or more lynches.

If any of these are committed, it will qualify as non-participation for the purposes of this game. Consequently, any player who commits any of these will have their Participation Score (P-Score) penalized.

If at any time you are afraid you cannot fulfill any of these requirements due to any reason, please PM both hosts immediately explaining your situation or requesting a replacement. In the case of the latter, we will then seek out someone to take your place and your P-Score will not be penalized.

Exceptions will be made for unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances.

Okay, guys. I'm still kinda finding my feet on this whole new back-to-basics Mafia dealio but I couldn't help but notice we have a fancy new No Lynch option? Is it me or does that sound completely amazing? Has this become like the norm in new games? Because I totally dig it as an option.

Day 1 is usually a bit of a crapshoot, and the odds are really not in or favor if it's just picking someone at random. So if the day goes by and we still have no idea what we're doing, would it be smart to just not lynch anyone? Has this been a working strategy before in other games? Or would it be better to make assessments based on who was riding certain lynch trains?

Either way it's kinda neat to have there.

Hi, wasn't expecting this game to start so soon. Now I'm playing two games simultaneously. But I see so far it's mainly jokes.

Hi, I don't believe we've played together before :)

On my home site, having a no lynch option was a regular thing. It's a good option to have on day 1 because 1 it's easy to lynch a civvie that day, and if you're really not sure, I think the better option would be to let everyone live instead of ending up lynching a townie. So if there's a person who's getting many votes when you think they shouldn't, but you can't decide with the rest of the town on who to lynch instead, I'd try to persuade others to go for the "no lynch" option.
That said, relying on it is a waste of day 1. We've caught baddies plenty of times on day 1, so I think we should always aspire to lynch and use it as a last resort. It's easier for baddies to blend in that way because they don't have to account for their vote.

Enrique gets my vote for now. I don't think "no lynch" has ever been a fantastic option for civilians in any game I've played.

I've never seen it work in town's favor. Ever. You're more likely to pick a random player to lynch and get lucky than lynch no one and give scum a free night kill. That's essentially what "no lynch" is, it's surrendering to mafia.

Oh yeah derp. Sorry it's early.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of not having a lynch then. Especially in this game, where the only other weapon the civvies has is the cop, we should utilize everything at our disposal.

Is Mac playing this game? I thought in signups he threatened another policy lynch, but he's not on the poll lol
