Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 2]

What bothers me about Tranq the most is that his reaction to being suspected so far has been to stick the head in the sand and wait for it to grow away. He's completely ignored me so far.

Which gives me a feeling he knows he's not gonna be lynched with a single vote so he'd rather avoid it. And that is suspicious on its own.

He just comes here, drops a vote on Wilgy, says some uncompromising stuff, and leaves.

On the other hand, it's a very valuable tool provided we can actually use abilities or claims to figure out who killed nutella later on. But right now... meh.
Is it easier to read over 5 people or 27?

I agree with you a little bit, but some narrowed direction in a bloated thread is nice.
What gives us a higher probability, at least 1 baddie among 5, or 6-8 baddies among 27?

I know it's more than math, but I'm not just gonna go and ignore the math. The point is, this doesn't narrow things down at all. You could ignore most of the 27 and just pick whoever you suspect the most at the time, and the chance of success shouldn't change too much. If we limited ourselves to the first 5 players in alphabet order, it wouldn't change much either. It's extremely likely there is at least one scum in any random 5 person group.

The way I see, it only narrows the hunt down if you can limit to a # of players lower than the proportion of baddies in the game. Which means 2 players at most. 5 players is basically lottery.

Considering there are two mafias, I'd assume both kills were made by each mafia. Unles the mafias are alternating kills. Do we even know if that's the case?

I find it unlikely that there are no other killing roles in this game besides the mafia teams.
I find it impossible actually, since the role list already says they exist.

But iirc they seem to be limited to map mechanics so they can't kill all the time.

Right now? G-Man. Or maybe Kyle.

I'm liking Quin this game, and trying to suspect Luna early in a mafia game gives me dejavu.

I'm not super happy about lynching any of the four, actually. Then again, I don't think I have ISO'd any of them carefully. ISOs make me lazy.

Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 2]

Dark Worshipper - Can sacrifice another player three times in the game. Each kill will grant him extra, permanent powers. The role that he kills determines what the gained powers are. *secrets*
I believe I nmed this one as our likely Serial Killer when I made that list? Anyway, if I were this guy, I'd be sacrificing people ASAP. Good chance he did it last night, or at least tried.
Sakana Sashimi - Can move through water and land squares, and can swim beneath the water. Movement rate of 5 in the water. One-time kill of someone on the same square who is also in the water.
This one is either a civ vigilante, or a source of extra kill for the mafia. Beats me.

Savage Pixie - Can see who is within a ... ght alive.

THis one really feels like a civ vigilante, due to the inspect dead body thing.

Both this role and the Sashimi can only kill once. No idea if they would try to do that on Night 1. I wouldn't, but some people are more kill-happy.

No idea how the quote in the post above turned into a broken link. Posting again:
Savage Pixie - Can see who is within a one-square radius, and can kill someone within that radius once in the game. Undetectable from an outside square, and can only be seen on her square if she chooses. Once in the game, she can inspect a dead body and find out who targeted them on their last night alive.

Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 2]

Gman

Talked mechanics at first, smeared DH which people found suspicious (I don't think it's very AI, DH is really wonky). Justified his early behavior with lack of time and a long-term plan (?). ISO'd 5 high posters and ranked them, I mostly agree with what he said (I think that's where the famous juliets case came from). Voted juliets and left. Came home to a gazillion posts, saw Sloonei voting juliets, decided Sloonei was sus and he didn't want a part on that. Voted Sloonei to tie with Wilgy and went to bed happy that he helped.

Commented about being busy a few more times but wants to play. I was the one who (half) joked about putting him out of misery, I apologize if that was insulting.

kylemii

Good news, pichu is finally good in Smash.

Ok disclaimer kyle always has a crap level of contribution early game. He takes a while to find himself and I've learned not to give him a hard time for that.

Which means he's actually overperforming here, because he's asking people questions. He tried to figure out if Epi is full of shit, then he concluded he's civ (and so is Sloonei). He scanned Dana, and made the most interesting assesment of juliets's meta compared to other games that anyone has made so far. While me and others are locked in a "but she's always like that" mindset, kyle seems to be seeing actual meta differences.

But then he jumps on the wolbre wagon. But finds a different reason to do it than other people, which makes it feel like legit hunting.

Then there's the "like" routine which doesn't look amazing, but is fairly harmless.

Ok Day 2. He now thinks juliets is lock town. Hmm... what? [mention]Kylemii[/mention]

Ok if this was a single mafia game I'd put him on the green pile and call it a day. Because he's not, he could still be bad. But I don't wanna lynch him today, I feel like a kylemii who does useful things on Day 1 needs to be celebrated.

Lunalee

Defends me. Attacks Colin for voting me. Seems very confident in her reads. Paranoid about kyle.

At EoD, she decides wolbre is a civ, based on what seems like pity for the way he got voted. She is neutral on Wilgy so she votes him early to save Wolbre. Okay. But then goes back to Colin.

Day 2. Paranoid about Mac/Wilgy being teammates. Questions Sloonei. Wants to look at the Wilgy wagon.

Her banter with Mac is a bit too snarky/friendly in a way that's making ME paranoid about them being teammates.

Voting Colin again, defends G-Man. Buys into the 5-person thing and is ready to abandon her Colin vote for it, though. Votes Quin out of lack of inspiration for the rest. That sucks, I was kind of hyped for what was looking like an argument with Colin.

She is very assertive Day 1 and a little less Day 2. Wants Colin dead but is willing to compromise with other wagons. I feel like I suspect her every single game and I'm usually wrong. This time I'm not actually feeling bad about her. She is looking like hunting. Her hunting style isn't super legit-looking like kyle's though, it's easier to fake. Gonna put her on neutral pile for now.

Quin

Agrees with me on Gman. Thinks timmer is full of shit and votes for him. Defends Sloonei. He and nutella were the big Sloonei advocates of Day 1.

Smears people pretty bad for the sig votes. I can sympathize. Forgets about timmer and jumps on Gman because he agrees with my Day 1 case. Attacks both Epi and TH for what he thinks is lazy casing. Votes Wilgy for... reasons? Then Wolbre. But suggests a lynch on Gman. Definitely not teammates with Gman.

Day 2. Attacks Tranq for his post-lynch post. Wants to lynch Dana, apparently (or it's a joke). Still has beed with Epi.

He's not voting yet, I take it that his wrath is likely going to one of Epi or Tranq? Or he's gonna bandwagon again like he did last night?

A lot of posts are good stuff. He is hunting. I don't feel him as civ that much after his ISO though. Something about him feels... thuggish I guess. He's making cases but not commiting on them, too. I don't know, Quin is always sarcastic, but when he's a civ there is this feeling of a poor kid who is desperate because people are wanting things from him and he's super lost, so he's trying his best. Here he seems a bit more arrogant, more overconfident.

//////////////////////////////////////////

Okay from civ to bad:

Kylemii
Lunalee
G-Man
Quin

Which is very different from what I had said, but hey, ISOs gonna ISO. I can see myself voting Quin. I'm not feeling the rest. G-Man is less suspicious and just weird. Luna could be bad but I don't want to press the lynch-Luna button so soon again. Kyle feels townier than he does most games.

There be other people I might lynch over Quin, though. Like Tranq. Or juliets. Or maybe the sprityo/sabie duo. Or Jack. Heck, I feel like we are discussing Colin too little too. But I guess if this ends up among us 5, Quin it is.

I just noticed the Gman ISO above is lacking compared the rest because it was the first one and the format improved as I went.

The point is, everything he says is beliavable. He is having trouble with the post count, he has some quirk he is waiting the right time to unleash, and he is legit hunting but not having time to dig deep. I don't really suspect him anymore. He could be bad but I need actual reasons to call it. I mean, the first 2-3 posts he made sucked, but that's old news. I actually suspect Quin more for hopping on that when I wasn't even voting for him anymore, and abandoning his own cases.

There seem to be a number of proximity triggers, and I would ‘t be surprised if there are more in the *secrets*, and sharing a square grants people BTSC. Why do you ask?
DDL seems to be assuming that there is only one mafia in your 5. There could be two, technically.

That made me start wondering if mafia are more likely to be close together or far away. Made me wonder if we could use that.

On further reflection, there's probably a pro/con regardless of abilities. Mafia far away from each other cover more kill targets, but close together avoid more town role effects.
Actually I said at least 1 mafia, not necessarily just one.

This Luna wagon is bizarre. I don't get why her being sure about something makes her bad.

I can't believe people are lynching Wilgy again. Then again I can believe it. Not gonna oppose it cuz it's fucking Wilgy. But I prefer Quin.

I usually believe claims because it's hard to fake this stuff, so sprityo is probably legit. The one I'm not sure if I should trust is the lady in the woods. Not feeling the switch to sabie right now, I think I wanna discuss about it longer.

In Hogwarts, [mention]DharmaHelper[/mention] used the res. stone to talk to him in the afterlife, then he slipped maybe a little to much information to INH (like having the stone and wanting to make alliances with the mafia).

One day later INH gets revived by lolRedirects and both me and DH think DH is doomed since INH is gonna out him to his scummates.

But INH just spends the whole day posting Voldemort memes and not being arsed to tell his team about it before he's lynched again.

And I would give you shit for that again. As I said previously, I feel that attacking people at EOD when they have clearly said they will not be around is not well done. As I told Sloonei, if someone presented a case she could refute I would have been happy to entertain it, as I tend to auto civ read her. But yeah, I disliked an EOD attack on someone who had had no prior suspish against them when they were not there to defend.

Come at me dude :noble: I yam what I yam and all that jazz.
The way I look at it the game has 24/48 hours so that we don't have to care if someone is around or not. Which is why I also dislike the way a lot of people tend to do all their gameplay in the last 2 hours. Sometimes I miss non-changable votes tbh.

I don't really want to argue about this though, and iirc this wasn't the reason you gave me to suspect me at the time. I need to look at your posts first.

Are you sure you can count on that number of things?

Also aren't there two people who attacked DH?

Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 3]

So I checked Bob's ISO and the post he gave me shit for was about SVS, not juliets, so never mind. He doesn't have any read of juliets whatsoever, actually, so could be a teammate of hers. But I bet that applies for like 15 other people.

Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 3]

As for SVS, this is the progression of her juliets-related posts:
S~V~S wrote: Mon Dec 10, 2018 10:12 am Also why were people trying to lynch someone who had no votes at the time she clearly said she would not be here at EOD (on day one no less), for her normal meta of asking alot of questions and trying to reason out both sides of a story? This is Juliets IRL meta as well as her game meta. What was that all about?

Dragon D. Luffy wrote: Mon Dec 10, 2018 12:23 pm I feel like I really like this juliets case people have put forth because I tinfoil on that every game. She always feels very passive and aimless.

The problem is that she is usually town. Does she feel more passive here than normal? Kyle says he does but I haven't felt it myself.
What do you like about it? Your second line seems to be saying maybe you don't like it. Please be specific.
It's like I've always wanted to lynch juliets for being passive and the time has finally come.

But rationally this doesn't make sense to me.
You want to lynch someone for being passive in general, not becasue of anything she has specifically done in this game?

Am I interpreting you correctly?

You said you like the case, what about the case (other than Juliets passivity) did you like? What points did you like enough that you felt strongly enough about to say you liked the case?
S~V~S wrote: Mon Dec 10, 2018 1:18 pm
Sloonei wrote: Mon Dec 10, 2018 12:44 pm Does anyone recall any games, recent or past, in which juliets was bad?
If it helps, here are are HOF stats:

juliets
15 Wins
11 as a civ
1 as a baddie
3 as an indy

I think if she was bad, I think I would see it. I don't recall the game, she or Tranq might, but I think it must have been an LC/BR game since she was our bad teammate and that's mostly all Tranq plays, and she was a nervous wreck, and it showed in the thread.

I am not seeing it, but I am not infallible.

So of you choose to make a case that she can rebut, I will be happy to hear it, and consider it. But that whole last minute thing where she had taken no votes or suspish up to that point, and clearly stated she would be absent at EOD, reeks of opportunism to me. THAT is what feels bad about all of this.

I am looking at the people who supported both the Wolbre and Juliet lynches (and I want to do violence to Wolbre, although I don't know him~ for self voting. Grrr but also lol).

Lunas content has modified my stance on her at this time, but her tone still pings me, perhaps I just need to see more of her.

Linki w/kyle, I did read the post, several times. It was better than most people did And I think before you want to lynch someone on day one for shitty content, your own content should be better. That still sounds to me like someone trying to justify a vote for him.

And that map critique he did, that reminded me of aapje, and that made me nostalgic for the ape :noble:

@DDL, so you cannot tell me what you liked about the case you said you liked except for, "Juliets is nice and passive, and baddies (generically, not specifically her) have been known to hide behind that?

ok, thanks for clarifying that. I felt like you were trying to say I was suspect for doing some "it is known" baddie tell of some kind for saying I found her kill to be an odd choice. The way you worded that was like it was an "aha!" kind of thing.

On night one, yeah, most kills are fairly random, but later in the game I find discussion of why a person was killed can have value.

linki, so Juliets is damed if she does, damned if she doesn't? She was basicvally told to produce an opinion post, she does so, and now it's "player salad"?
We are all damned if we do, damned if we don't, that's why this game is so hard to solve. :shrug2:
That is not true and it is misleading to say it is. What is true is that yesterday you said you wanted to lynch her for being passive, so she IS damned if she does and damned if she doesn't with YOU.
My previous comment on how SVS gave me shit for juliets was related to the second quote, and the ones after it. I had missed the 1st quote.

The fact the 1st quote exists make SVS looks somewhat better in my eyes, because it's one thing to directly defend juliets like she did in that quote, but it's another to start it by trying to throw shade at the people attacking her. The later is more shady, while the former is something a teammate might avoid doing. So SVS is back to the neutral pile, maybe leaning civ a bit.

Also I strongly disagree with the idea that the "passive" tell on juliets was wrong. It worked. If anything, I'll remember that for future games, because we now know what baddie juliets looks like. She avoids making direct reads on people and instead only asks questions or sheeps on others' opinions, and only provides reads when called to do it.

I disagree, Mac made it pretty clear we should lynch absolutely no one other than INH, and he did that during the night.

If anything it's very like Mac to vote and not post anymore to make a point.

If this is true, I have reason to believe 2 of these players tried to kill DH last night: sprityo, timmer, nova, colonialbob, speedchuck, sig.
DH survived because of his role.
Yeah. And?
So there doesn’t need to have been two people targeting him, unless I’m misunderstanding you.
In the host post there are two shadowy baddies like “let’s kill the statue.” So I’m assuming one is the killer and the other is something else but still bad and still in the area. Maybe targeted DH with something bad as well. Maybe targeted the killer with a good thing.

But no doc so no worries about putting the doc by listing people around.
Or this is just flavor and one baddie attacked while the other was just watching?

Now that I look at the write-up, it seems to imply they are friends. Why would too baddies from the same team attack DH?

The silver lining on Tranq is that I've seem more than one people meta read him as civ. I think it was SVS who said he would never slip that easily? Someone else said something in that sense too.

I tend to respect meta reads on people I'm not used to play with.

She said that about INH and it’s fair.

While good players like Sloonei and Epi rolled over for the Primes in CC123, INH went scorched earth. Just claiming scum as scum is pretty beneath him and pretty jokey. Like it could be a joke like “Watch me claim scum as scum and still not get lynched lol” but it’s almost certainly not actually getting so drunk he confessed by mistake.
No I'm sure it was about Tranq, not INH.

It's not impossible if you consider what he said, that his faction can win with town.

So I guess he entered helpful indie mode at a time when that wasn't a good idea.
