I haven't read most of the discussion but I probably agree with Eloh's point about EoDs.

Maybe doing most of the gameplay in the last hour is an effective way at catching mafia. It still makes the game less fun.

I'm saying as someone who considered quitting mafia in this site after the last game because I'm now having college classes during the time most EoDs happen. Which, based on Syndicate meta, would make me unable to play anymore.

I meant that question in the biggest sense. What is the purpose of this game thread, and why are we in it?

It's rhetorical.

My problem is that most people seem to avoid the game thread until the last two hours, when they start playing and posting and voting. People don't even take wagons seriously until they start considering their votes in those last two hours.

I'm not sure if that has happened in this game but it has happened quite often in past ones.

And yes, it is an invitation for people who can't be online at EoD not to play games. I'm trying to figure out if there is a correlation between that and the fact his site has difficulty getting new users.

There's an easy solution. Not within the scope of this game, but it's helpful to think about.

Hammer voting.

That way ANY time of the day could be the last two hours. If you don't know when day ends, you need to go ahead and put your vote where it counts.

That all said, this wasn't a hot potato lynch.

I am noticing my unhappiness is not very well related with the current game, so I think I'll stop arguing this for now

I'm like 10 pages behind, not sure when I'll catch up since this week's pretty busy. Strongly considering skipping all post-Mac lynch content.

Ok here's what I see. I initially liked his posts about DDL and I really liked his reads wall (even tho I didn't agree with everything) because he was explaining why he had the reads he did. Looking back over it though what strikes me is he never does this. He usually just throws out reads with no backup whatsoever and when people question him he ignores it or responds negatively. But is this indicative of a bad Mac or just a style change? I need to look at a bad Mac game, anyone know a recent one?

If you are bad and need to bus your teammate without making it easy but doesn't want to outright oppose it, the above is how you can do it.

I remember in Gossip Girl, I wasn’t really crazy about the way the lynches were handled, but I came around to appreciating it. Elohcin played that game but she didn’t get upset at all over the last minute vote switching. Her reaction today felt personal.

I've seen Eloh complain on discord how she hates the way current mafia is played.

Her reaction here is consistent with that.

Not saying she couldn't fake it, but it's feasible for a civ Eloh to do.

Maybe things have changed for him, but I don't think he would sign up to play and be this lazy if he were bad.

When you are a civ you never anihilate people. You go around suspects a lot before settling down at EoD, even if you were the one who started the wagon to begin with.

Then you say you do different as a baddie... but then the problem is that I'd expect a veteran player like you to make a more conscious effort to make your baddie meta similar to the civ one. I'm not really buying that you'd let your baddie style be so obviously different from the civ one. We would read you a lot more easily if it was.

This is WIFOM of course, but I still think it makes sense.

this feels like tmi. from both of them really, but mostly ddl who didn't have a clear "town" read on jay at this point. he's usually someone who displays a bit more resistance in giving people green cards. i feel like this response coupled with the soft nudge then soft defence of jay before jay could even respond were a subtle pocketing approach. could macdougall and ddl be pulling another "ass class" and having a laugh about it before we threw a pie in mac's face?

First of all I'm wrapping my head over how you interpreted my post on Jay as a "green card".

I made a remark on how Jay is different from his meta then tried to come up with an explanation for it. That's it. At most it defaults to a null.

As for the rest, you don't like that I was confused about an early argument. Well, I was confused, how about that. I just saw two people doing what seemed like reaching and making more and more elaborated posts over what were basically greeting posts and decided it was a waste of time to read it or analyse it. Which is usually my reaction to long back-and-forth arguments, btw. And I like to tell it to people because I always enjoy finding ways to make people unconfortable in games. Shake things up, if you will. I like to look at people who I think are wasting time on day 1 and tell it to their faces. Break everything just to see what's inside.

As an example, I also made a point to ignore 90% of your argument with Jack in the previous game. And if you asked me about it I'd probably have told you were both wasting your time.

I didn't say that. But I do think at some point we'll have such a high concentration of civs among the actives that letting the inactives stay untouched will not be optimal.

There's always a chance that LC is lying or his ability was tampared with, but experience says most of the time, you should trust the cop who claimed first.

Going after only inactives can slow the town down this early on though.

She pointed to Kites post with his reads as sounding bad and she was specific which dunya also pointed out later (I think later). Her points in my opinion were good.
She pointed out ro Mac that she didn't see how he could read Kites reads post as "gold".
She questioned Mac about his verbiage that on re-read nutella's posts seemed "worse".
Responded to kites saying she almost wanted to not suspect him anymore because of his response post but said "nah, I still do".
Says a Jack post "made her cringe" - the post where he said he was a softie and couldn't vote for her (I'm assuming Jack is bad).
She argued not to lynch a low poster.
She voted for Mac though I believe she was the last person to vote for him.
Two days ago she said she'd throw out a POE but she hasn't posted since.

So I would say this is a mixed bag. I'm not ready to lynch her but I'm not totally comfortable calling her town. Her questioning of Mac could have been distancing and her vote could have been a bus. I think her call-out of kites was good. I liked her argument that there was enough going on in the thread that we should not lynch a low poster. I really need to see some more from her, especially that POE she promised.
