Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 2]

Actually, I wanna say I town read him in ASOUE for hunting an opposing scummer and he turned out to be bad. I thought he was anti town in Blue vs Red but he was pretty over the top on purpose in his neutral role.

I guess what I mean is I don't have a good feel for what INH looks like when he's town/bad.

Fuck it. Let's ISO INH.

Null on his own merits.

I'm shit at reading INH. He always dies before I figure him out and seems to be playing with cards close to his vest.

I didn't play in the Poppy game so "INH would have used a Poppy curse" doesn't sway me, at least not without more consensus. (Two, three people weighed in on it?) Is there further reason behind suspicion of him?

I don't think he's w/w with any of the players who voted for him yesterday. I feel you and Tony wanted him dead over LC and Rico hasn't backed off either.
You feel like Tony and I wanted him dead over LC?

News flash: I did want INH dead over LC.

I voted for him.
Not all players who vote for other players actually want them dead.

My point was "I don't think any of those three were distancing."

But you know this already.

And if I could, I would hear, "Hey guys, who are we killing tonight?"
So you've never heard of distancing?

Like I said, faker, you're the best at pretending not to understand.

INH ISO complete. He's incredibly noncommittal. Even when asked what his reads are (while implying he's not giving any), INH goes WIFOM on Golden and talks about reads on him from Rico, not his own reads on others.

INH's rainbow of voted players yesterday doesn't make sense to me and for the most part, isn't backed up. What is backed up (Golden read), I disagree with.

Doesn't attempt to get cred on LC lynch. Null look.

I guess I'd put INH at the bottom of the yellows, top of the oranges. There are lots of players providing little content (Boom and Timmer come to mind) but those players are on the edges. INH is in the middle and still refusing to pick sides.

I don't think LC would curse someone with that. LC is far more creative.
And all the others who aren't LC or INH? How did you know they weren't the curser?

Refuses to lay out his case. Makes getting further details feel like pulling teeth. Accuses anyone who doesn't agree with his unstated logic of being teamed with INH, who, again, is bad for reasons Epi refuses to state. Yet Epi was the one trying to prevent an LC lynch and we know LC is bad.

Theory 2) Teammates really thought INH argument was good and wanted cred.

Gut. I'd lynch him before I lynched you at this point, but neither of you are people I think would be good choices. Your case that epi is lcs teammate is viable but not damning.

I don't like tonys game. His effort to prove he isn't Marcus masks the fact there are 5 other baddies he could be, and I still don't think his thought process around his inh vote is transparent.
Tony's lack of townie progression on INH and comments on LC before his vote make me okay with lynching Tony before Epi.

If Tony flips SMaf, I'll re-evaluate Epi.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]

Tony, walk me through your last second vote on INH, again. Convince me that wasn't an attempt to save TSP.

Basically on board w/ everything Golden has said (sorry if that gets you nightkilled). The strongest reason I suspect INH is now the idea that Rico may have info on him and just isn't saying.

I'd prefer to lynch Epi or Tony as LC teammates but I generally don't think they are w/w. But maybe... Epi's push on Tony looked opportunistic and I said as much earlier. But "opportunistic" just means "dishonest for the easy lynch." Could have been "dishonest to distance."

Another possibility is Epi w/ Rico. LC was a rokechecker and may have role checked INH. So the "gain town cred" theory. Rico and Tony seems less likely because Tony didn't back up the initial INH push.

LC's team has a silencer so if Rico silenced, makes him less likely to be LC's teammate. If you're gonna continue to push INH for cred, why silence yourself? Actually, I'm roughly 90% certain an Epi/Rico/LC team is impossible.

What about Dom?

If we assume Rico is good (info gather or not), Epi is being honest about his reasons for voting INH (though perhaps not his reasons for not voting LC). This means the "lynch INH for cred" theory is less likely so the "Dom is bad" or "there was no save attempt" are more likely scenarios.

I'm gonna work with the idea that Rico is good or at least YMaf. That seems solid. Plus, Rico was semi on LC's butt. Also going to assume Rico wasn't role checked and followed for that reason. Just based on probability.

So maybe Epi and Dom. Maybe Dom and Tony. Not Epi and Tony cause they'd have just voted Dom. Maybe just Tony and somebody else. Probably not Epi and someone other than Dom. Probably.

As far as curses go, the curser choose a second referenced post restriction. Why further self incriminate? WIFOM.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]

Epi's vote brought it to two a piece with LC, INH, Dom.

Lorab votes LC and Tony ties it up again by voting INH.

Dom tries to vote Golden.

If Dom is teamed with LC, why not save LC by voting elsewhere or get cred by lynching LC? Therefore, he's probably not teamed with LC.

If Dom isn't teamed with LC, Epi more likely to vote Dom than INH.

Tony's defense is twofold:

1) He points out Dom isn't likely LC's teammate. (So what?)

2) He claims to have been trying to prove he wasn't Marcus....but INH and Dom had the same number of votes, one vote less than LC. Nothing in this action would have proved he wasn't Marcus.

I think Tony's vote is the most likely save attempt vote.

If Tony is town, there's a much higher chance of an Epi being w/w with LC.

If Tony is mafia w/LC, I don't think Epi is likely in the same mafia.

I've been feeling less good about Eloh since her vote yesterday but I still think there's a scum between Tony and Epi that needs to be found.

(I realize this isn't alignment indicative but everytime Eloh is like "I was cooking/doing something for the kids," it pings me. Like don't you know you are supposed to play mafia in the middle or chores so they take twice as long but you get to play mafia?)

Tony had the theory. Wilgy seems to have confirmed it. Then we got a message from Cecil overnight, suggesting Cecil is still alive.

It could be a massive team trick and Tony and Wilgy could be allies who know they get the power of Cecil after Cecil died, this is possible.
so what does that mean for tony?
It looks better, but not great. TSP could have (if I remember correctly) been on either mafia team. Now if he's mafia, he'd have to be on the politicians I think. And the politician argument for TSP was weaker than the Strex argument. But it was there.

I'll have to go back and look, and that sounds like a Monday thing.
I think the politician argument was stronger. He spent so much time trying to prove he wasn't Marcus, that doesn't prove he isn't a politician.
Disagree. It is reasonable to clear yourself of being Marcus if presented with the opportunity.

Tying the LC/INH vote minutes before day's end when LC had yet to vote, nearly saving a Strexmaf member, is far and away the most suspicious thing about Tony.

If we can prove Eloh is bad, that would make me feel much better about Tony.

That said, since Tamika's secret appears to have been a nightkill, I can't help but notice the most pro-town Tony can be is the tan jacket man.

Dear Diary,

What a feeling, I feel somewhat sick, and somewhat lost. I have little memory of what has recently happened.

Lately TSP has been talking of me. I do not know how he came to these conclusions. Somewhat rude to talk about others if I say so myself. What a baddie.

JoH's reaction to Eloh's death is so peculiar. Its almost as if he didn't bkther to read Eloh's alignment. Odd now that more info on Cecil is in play.

Until next time diary, thank you for keeping my secrets.
I didn't.

I don't know the theme at all and saw the white/purple haired person that Eloh flipped as and assumed they were the white/purple haired teammate (Marcus) from the front page.

Went to check what Cecil's power was from the front page and realized I had it wrong.

Btw, I'm being forced to vote Epi today.

So...vote Epi

Odd choice, considering I've stated my suspicion of Epi already.

You had already stated your suspicion of me when you were forced to vote for me too. Why you twice in three days, do you think?
Cause they're scared of my scumhunting ability, obviously.

Elohcin wrote: Mon Jul 17, 2017 10:19 pm As long as we keep up with the thread, the unchangeable votes shouldn't be a problem. If you need to take notes as to who is suspecting who throughout the day, then do so. I don't think we need to assifn a specific emoji to that. What if I want to use that emoji for fun?
It might help for searching the thread to check vote patterns. It just might be good to come up with a way to do that.
The hedging language here (might, just might) tells me he isn't really invested in his own idea. If TonyStarkPrime were serious about finding a useful way to track votes in the thread, he wouldn't suggest one idea, get thwarted by Eloh, and then just say "It just might be good to come up with a way to do that." He is talking about how to track something that doesn't matter, since even when votes can be changed, it isn't like we can see who voted for whom when.

"But Epi, you don't know TonyStarkPrime! What if this is how he normally is?"
Spoiler: show
I don't care.
"But Epi, didn't he die Day 1 in Pokemon? Wouldn't it be cruel to lynch him Day 1 here?"
Spoiler: show
See above.
Ooh. Forgot about how the polls worked. (In case my language gets misconstrued again, forgot here means "I neglected to consider") Back on my home site we do the whole "vote in bold in-post" thing, so I typically play with a pretty trackable record and that influences how I play. Even here it would be easier to check in on the thread, look at votes, and have an idea where we stand, and if I recall correctly from Mass Effect, we would mark votes with orange so we would have that record. I assume that is more or less a standard thing.

I don't quite understand the whole hedging thing. I had an idea, someone said "I don't like that idea" and then I said "well maybe there is another way". Which to me would suggest that I'm still invested in the general idea. The word "might" is more of a "I'm not going to force an idea through if people don't want it" than a "well, I don't really care about what I'm saying".
I actually like this response to Epi. I think if someone grasps onto this "reason" for why Tony may be mafia, they should be looked at more closely as maybe being mafia themselves.
@jack - do you really believe epi believes his theory or donyou think he made it up to see who would latch onto it? I'm thinking the latter.

In reply to Tony. Why doesn't my suggestion work?
Read thread. Take notes on who voted for whom or who suggested voting for whom at what time. Read over notes before voting.
This seems like a fine solution and you don't have to scroll through the thread over and over.

Elohcin wrote: Thu Jul 20, 2017 5:34 pm Okay, that was a lot to read. First, LC because I was reading about him most recently. I don't see how anyone can think him as bad quite yet. His posts have been either half-hearted and sober or nonsense and drunken. I don't understand why dom suspects golden. Its seems we all see a civ golden here. I'm not sure if going after dom for a noU reaction is smart, but perhaps for his squirmy disposition. Then there's the bad guy with +2 votes....... Marcus. This may be the most sensible option. Epi noticed Tony may be a good candidate for that role. My vote will either go to him or Dom today unless something changes.

On a side note, someone else mentioned that I voted early yesterday. Y'all are just a bunch or procrastinators is what it is. 😛

Oh yeah, and I wanted to mention that I don't think Rico was cursed by anything Day 1. He was just being silly all on his own. But I do think he is cursed today. And someone mentioned that Poppy is from another game (can't remember who). Whoever cirsed rico was probably in that game as well if you care to narrow down the insanifier.

Watch out for INH hiding behind being *quirky*

Watch out Elo pretending she can't read my posts.
WTF Dom, give a lady time to respond. I may be in the kitchen vacuuming up pepper that my 5 year old spilt all over the floor when reaching for a banana. Seriously. It just happened.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 4]

I got nothing on that not Adama post.

Can someone explain why Eloh could or would be the dragon?

@Sprityo, where's your head at for today's lynch? Same question to Boom, Speed and Tony.

@Golden, what causes you to narrow down to me, Rico, INH?

@Wilgy, what causes you to narrow down to me and Golden?

At this point, I'd probably be good with an INH lynch. Fair chance Rico has real dirt on him. Worst case scenario, we cut out a townie who isn't really hunting and confirm that I am not in fact protecting my mafia teammate. But I don't think INH is good. I liked him in ASOUE for hunting and he was good. So if he's 90% focused on self defense, maybe I can read him good enough to say "INH is bad" after all.

I wouldn't mind lynching Epi for previously stated reasons but I don't like the vote steal + silence combo. Maybe I'm just the sucker in the room but I don't feel like people getting targeted by baddie powers makes them bad. Like yeah, it doesn't make them good, but I'm really doubting this meta assertion from Golden that reads like "more than 50% of baddie offensive night targets are aimed at themselves to buy cred" cause a) I keep getting targeted by those powers in this game, b) I haven't seen a large amount of this in other games and c) it wouldn't work because of exactly what Golden is doing.

I don't see any reason to lynch Rico or Dom.

Assuming Eloh was bad, I don't see reason to lynch Tony.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 4]

Okay on Epi.

Under the idea that the politicians are playing mind games, I could see a Timmer/INH/Sprityo mafia.

I feel like Sprityo is far and away the most likely player to vote steal me twice. Would feel better about this idea if INH is actually bad. If someone is trying to set up INH with those curses, I can see someone trying to set up Sprityo with those steals.

Can anyone give their thoughts on tan jacket guy? What would his powers and win condition be?

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 4]

The equation changes if Eloh really was a dragon, so again, I will ask why we/Cecil might think so.

Eloh/Timmer as two of the three politicians does not strike me as a group to give those curses and vote steals. The list of people who would tend to pull the tails of Rico, Dom, Jack is pretty small. Like...just Sprityo, LC (obviously not) and maaaaaaybe Epi, Golden. Split the people messing from one into two and the suspect pool opens up.

Linki: I meant thematically.

No, really, I hadn't thought about it before. But when you were forced to vote for me, I was taking heat from Wilgy, Rico, Dom and LC as well as you. There is literally a zero chance I would ever allow my team to put me at risk like that for no good reason. That's much different from silencing (which, I understand and agree with you, because I hate being silenced and would never agree to it voluntarily, but at least it wouldn't be jeopardising my lynch in the same way.)

I don't think it's necessary to see Timmer as a politician, he could be either kind of baddie. I don't know sprityo that well, but I'm not sure why INH and rico himself wouldn't be on that list. I could even see an INH/rico team, rico is acting like it's hard info or hard bus, so I'm leaning towards an INH lynch right now. Wilgy would be too except right now I trust him and Tony's read on him. I wouldn't put it past dom to accept a self curse but I don't believe he did.

I don't think Epi would object to slightly eccentric use of abilities although I tend to think he wouldn't be getting people to vote for those they already suspect - he'd want to use that ability more efficiently.

Besides, its not really the 'who is cursed' but the 'how' that is eccentric. So, I don't think the question is who would be targeted. I think the thing which speaks to personality is what they are targeted with.

Elo is someone who I could see being on board, but I agree with you that she doesn't seem the type to be the driving force behind decisions like the rico curse.
Also worth noting I've been forced to vote for people I've voiced suspicion on.

On Golden, maybe the mafia thinks I can't say my vote is stolen.

On Epi...idk. Maybe they assumed I'd be silenced again and Epi isn't a politician.
Golden wrote: Mon Jul 24, 2017 6:27 am A more logical reason why epi is not Marcus pretending to be silenced... what does he hope to gain from a single day of pretending to be silenced? It doesn't make much sense as a strategy, the gig would be up the following day.

Besides, epi has been the most genuine Marcus hunter.

If Epi is bad, I'd put money that it isn't Strex. The question is would he force jack to vote for him? I'm not sure that he would.

I think I'm talking myself back into epi in the top tier.
Devil's advocate: "Timmer must have been Kevin." He only has to fake it one day.
