It's definitely more fast-paced than I'm used to! I'm still trying to read through the thread (I'm off from work today and have my 4 year old up my backside, lol) and get used to the site's navigation. I should be good in a little bit.

I play on HCRealms, and it’s not quite as active as here, lol. It’s just a little different and taking some getting used to.

Cool, cool. Makes sense. I’m unfamiliar with a few terms being batted around, is there a glossary on this site somewhere? I think I get the gist for the most part, though.

For the most part I think this has been about getting reads on each other. The game started somewhat spammy, but it has solidified into a well-oiled machine of Mafia work. Some of that is arguing and some of that metagaming, but not all of it. Do you have feelings about any players after catching up?

Gut feeling might be that sprityo, long con, and tony are scum. I feel really good about you and Nanook, but that might also be because you’ve been the most welcoming/informative for me.

I’d say some of the more prolific posters have been aggressive, which is generally a town trait I’ve found.

But, then again, I think I’ve established that you guys have a way more aggressive playstyle here compared to Realms. Which is not a bad thing, mind you. It’s kinda refreshing.

Mafia was first introduced to Realms back in 2007. I played heavily back then. Had a break from the forum for a few years, and recently came back there to play during quarantining.

This is my first time on this site, so I’m adjusting to playstyle. Realms games tend to be heavily themed and roles are sometimes crazily complex. Players here seem to be a lot more aggressive (to me), especially for a Day one. =)

This is actually really interesting, I’ve never played in a game like this.

Closest was one game where everyone had a one shot night kill to use whenever they wanted, but everyone thought they were the only one and we didn’t catch on til day 4 when the previous night was a massacre. I sincerely hope that’s not the case here...

If I’m remembering correctly, there were 25 people in that game and we had about 3 kills a night, which was fairly standard at the time. (1 mafia kill, 1 serial killer, and 1 town vigilante). Night 3 was when it all went to hell and 5-6 people popped off. It was literally insane.

Thanks! I didn’t even know about this place til Jack sent an invite to this game. Work is going to be crazy for me for the next couple of weeks as we begin working a full reopening plan. (I work in a restaurant and we’re closed for seating until August 1st, but we do take out).

I’ll definitely check out some games when this one is over! I’m having a hard enough time keeping up with this one.

Not a lot more to it. I found it weird they didn't know they were a miller before others started talking about it and the way it was worded. Though I realize that might just be how they post and didn't realize what the term was before.

Most of you know each and play regularly with each other, I assume? That’s how you can guess and get reads off of each other’s play styles. Wtf do i have to go off of? Pretty much jack and shit. Which is why I’ve been trying to respond the best I can and try to stay active in a game I feel completely overwhelmed in.

A question and an observation. First, are open Night Phases a normal thing on this site or is it game-specific here? Because this is a first for me.

And an observation, I don’t think I’ve ever played in a game where a townsperson has an unyeetable role. Again, also pointing out that our play styles and game flavors are similar, yet pretty different at the same time. So I guess take my observation with a grain of salt.

I know him from HCRealms, which is a HeroClix forum, which was mainly comic book based for the first decade. So yeah, I’d definitely say 100 Bullets has a hella strong chance of being in Jack’s wheelhouse.

I think it is vague enough to be interpreted in multiple ways. It could mean one entity or team killed them both, or it could mean that two different people killed them, why do you automatically interpret it as too?

I definitely think that it was 2 different killers. The flavor and aesthetic seem different.

What if the redirector doesn’t know who the new target was? In my experience, MD (misdirectors) don’t know who their targets will target, it’s usually randomized by the mod. Occasionally, there is a CMD (Controlled Misdirector), but those are usually non-town friendly.

I think the most compelling reason to think Epi killed nanook is along the lines of "Epi has no idea why nanook townread him, and isn't sure he can keep up whatever behavior he did to get townread, so he shoots nanook before nanook can cotton on and catch him." I don't really see Epi as the kind of wolf player to fearkill people though, and there are many much more simple and obvious reasons why a wolf would shoot nanook so it doesn't really make me suspect Epi.

That may be the case here, but the term I’m more familiar with is a controlled misdirector. Someone who basically changes X’s target to Y, instead of their original. Is that what you’re callin a Redirector?

Why has no one questioned whether SD wasn't redirected? Maybe Wisp was instead. I mean, that's not true, and I did try to confirm my role based on what he saw on my role card... but still. Maybe I'm 3p, Cult Leader, and I recruited Wisp last night and we made this whole plan up. I don't know why I come up with these things.

Also, Wisp mentioned Samurai Jack in reference to LC. That would be hella easy for LC to bust if he was incorrect, which means either they’re working together, or Wisp hit his intended target.

The only kink I see in that plan is if one of them is scum. They could mislead the entire situation.

I'm not trying to solve the game via town behavior and POEs but rather by an in depth examination of night actions

But that reasoning might be why I had a more difficult time day one. I’m not used to people jumping right out at you and making charts off your personality. My experiences tend to be more write-up/action-driven deductions.

Maybe it is a vig and an SK, and the scum kill was blocked or protected.

Nanook wasn’t shot. He was cut up. Sounds malicious and overkill, which is part of what JTR was known for.
