I’m going to reject off-hand the idea that each house has exactly one Death Eater or anything along such simplistic lines. Hosts don’t make games that easy. Not to say it couldn’t have happened by accident, but I’m not going to treat that as a rule. Unless of course it is a rule.
I haven’t read all the rules.

It allows town to just play the game as if checking off a list. It's not really scum hunting and it theoretically confirms ~4 people as town every time a single baddie is lynched.DharmaHelper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 6:13 pmWhat's not balanced about putting exactly one mafia member in each of the houses. that's...the definition of balanced....?

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 1
Looking at poutanko while I wait for my laundry to dry because they don't have too many posts and I still have no read of them:
If I want to get critical, it's that I'm not seeing many/any suspects here. There's lots of town reads and a smattering of questions, but I don't see poutanko coming out and accusing anybody of being bad. That's not a problem early on, but it's something to look out for as the game progresses.
In this post she calls out both kara and LC, but kind of hedges on Kara and her accusation on LC is a bit vague. I don't dislike the post, but it doesn't dismiss my concern about the lack of suspects as much as I'd like it to. Still town-reading poutanko, but I'm trying not settle on that too easily. I like the post, but have room for concern.
That said, I've got a more positive vibe than negative here. My concern is nothing more than that: a concern. I wouldn't vote for poutanko right now because of it, but if it's a trend that continues I'd probably start to consider it more. To reiterate: I'd like to see more direct accusations out of poutanko. There's some good chatter and I can see what looks like a genuine effort to understand players, but there's not a whole lot of commentary about what's bad.
The first bit a strategic proposal that always comes up whenever there's a sort of lie detector role in the game. I tend to regard this sort of comment with caution because they represent an easy way for scum to integrate themselves into the thread, but by no means do I take it as a tell per se. Just something that gets my attention. The second paragraph is a series of observations where she(?) tries to grapple with some reads on unfamiliar players. I like the look of it at face value. There's an apparent effort to produce reads balanced with a simultaneous awareness that she's unfamiliar with the players involved. I could fault the waffley nature of this post, but I won't because it came on Day 1 in a foreign setting.poutanko wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:04 pm Can't we just state we're Town so whoever have the Veritaserum can use it whenever they want to whoever they want without asking their sus about it (so not giving a hint/clue about them having the potion)?
...I'll re-read the thread in the morning, too sleepy to translate these Pumpkin Throwing fest between DH-Owner, JJJ-Juliet-Epi-Quinon first impression both Owner and JJJ come off as too strong going after their targets. Idk if JJJ is normally like this (some said he's sus, some didn't react even a bit), he doesn't seem like new here albeit he doesn't have grandpa vibe yet. Owner - last time I played with her and she's scum, she didn't tunnel this much. Her reasoning is weird tho but she's always weird by default

Throws out a couple more (positive) reads. I think this is also a good look given poutanko's newness here.
I like this post too. Kind of reminds me of my own style when I'm more fully into a game than I am here. She's tossing reads and questions around together without seeming to be stuck in any single area. If this trend continues I may cut this exercise short and slap a big Town Read sticker on potato.poutanko wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 8:29 pm @karavalenge a bit too aware of your image, no? How many games have you played before this one?
Done re-reading. Nothing odd from what I see of Juliet-Epi-Quin interaction.
@JaggedJimmyJay you moved your vote from Quin to LongCon, what's your read on Quin now?![]()

This is another post that reminds me of me and inclines me to read her as town, maybe just because of my huge ego. She's intent on going beyond what's there and getting more out of juliets1.0. Very good look, imo.poutanko wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 9:31 amDo you need to be asked for something specific to share your own thought tho? Okay then, do you have some other suspects in your mind or someone you notice behaving in a way that they're not their usual self? I see you keep asking people but only gave your opinion if you're asked about it which gave me impression you're guardedjuliets wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 9:21 amWell at the moment I am most interested in Bullzeye, not so much for his vote for Nova because voting a no show on Day 1 has been accepted practice in the past, but more because he posted on Day 1 but his posts were almost all devoid of content. That doesn't feel like civ Bullz to me - he's an outstanding player.
I think I made it clear that I don't suspect JJJ and I haven't read back on OoaLH but her refusal to vote for TH seemed more of a civ move to me than a baddie move. I may have more thoughts on her later when I read her back.
I'm just kind of throwing things out here, is there anything specifically you would like me to speak to?![]()
Direct criticism of INH. Cool.poutanko wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:56 pm INH gave me impression he's buddying the newbie like what DH did to me on Outpost. Him giving limited read on other players feel similar as Juliet. Guarded. He jokes more here than on Outpost tho.
@Bullzeye you're asked about your read on your voters. At least you can do that much?![]()
This post was made but never followed up on. I'd like to see the product of these ISOs if you have the time, poutanko.
A list of reads at the urging of Jay. I don't object to this list (how could I? I've read like 10% of the thread), but it doesn't do much to alleviate my prior concern, which is that poutanko's posts are light on the scum reads. This post is particularly glaring given her previous comment to juliets1.0: "Do you need to be asked for something specific to share your own thought tho?" Poutanko only shared her scum reads when specifically asked.poutanko wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:31 amI'll go with what I feel/impression I got. Who do you most trust?
Who do you least trust?
Multiple names per question would be super.
Most:
Colin still
nutella - actually looks like female Colin but then D2 happened. I haven't reread her posts but the general feel about her is still the same as my initial impression I got from her.
MacD - looks like lazy Colin, Colin is more hyper? this one is lazier.
kara - frustrated newbie town, I will feel easier about her if she starts posting again.
Luna - should be Town looking at her interaction with INH and their tone, not as easy as my initial feel of her.
Least:
Bullz/Speed 2.0 - I don't trust him still. I was thinking timmer/bullz/LC could be team mates (with timmer vouching Bullz after novase flip -unexpected judging from the reaction- and LC looking like he's trying to lessen the pressure on Bullz by brushing it off as something normal). Timmer's claim sounds genuine, I still feel uneasy with the other 2.
LongCon - on and off town/scum feel. His reaction on Bullz vote was not what I expected. People sussing Bullz for his weird vote on Novase is what I think would be the normal reaction, not his.
DH/you gave me uneasy feeling. Both of you are vet players/oldfags. DH just fooled me completely on Outpost. Nothing look sus if I think about it but something doesn't feel right.
Glorf - your creepy fan
timmer was here but his claim and the way he said it feels genuine.
Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4
Responding to Jay's call for POE
Players I'd be comfortable eliminating from my pool of suspects right now:
Jay
nutella
timmer
poutanko
juliets
DharmaHelper
Not quite Colin, because I'd need some assurance on the accuracy of poutanko's cop ID. To be clear, I trust the claim, I'm just uncertain about night action manipulation.
That leaves me with the following people as viable suspects:
Jack
kara
Luna
Mac
Quin
speedchuck
sprit
I'm leaving Colin in purgatory for now because I wouldn't argue for his lynch any time soon but my concerns stated above can't be dismissed. Luna would probably be the next player I bump out of that pool, and I highly doubt that both Quin and speedchuck are Death Eaters.
All of this, both sides of my list, come with the caveat that this is the least engaged I've been with a game in a very long time and it's a guarantee that I have missed some crucial information along the line.
It does seem like the prior suspicion against Mac has dissolved and I'm not sure why. Unless I simply missed that, he seems like he'd be a good person to talk about once we've moved past the present issues.
has sprit done anything yet?

Jack - He was my first suspect based on a very minimal reading of his posts. I haven't abandoned that, but I also haven't followed up on it. I've not seen him doing anything alarming since my initial accusation, but I also haven't looked too closely. He'd be in the closest-to-neutral tier of scum reads on a hypothetical rainbow list.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 2:55 pm Sloonei, could you please provide some quick gut reads on the people you didn't remove from your POE pool?
kara - I'm hardly aware that they're in the game. That's as much my fault as theirs, but they've been quiet so there's not much I can do here (unless, you know, I start to read things)
Luna - Town read, but not comfortable taking her out of this pool. The way INH treated her did not strike me as a teammate interaction.
Mac - I never really can read Mac even though we've been playing together for 100 years. I haven't discerned any notable scum-tells in that time. Sometimes I pick up on town-tells though, and I haven't done that here. As I mentioned in my last post, he seems like someone to talk about after the current episode ends.
Quin - Implicated in a night action dispute with speed. Questions all around, and it seems prudent to pursue one of these two.
speedchuck - Implicated in a night action dispute with quin. Questions all around, and it seems prudent to pursue one of these two. I might favor speed's version of events if not for the other evidence (poutanko's ID) against him.

This at least nullifies the fear that his resurrection was some trick pulled by the Death Eaters with another play in mind today. When I got Glorf's role card I was blown away to see that he had the Phoenix. I suspect he was waiting to use it if JJJ died but of course I don't know for sure. So I promptly did what Colin has been begging everyone to do and I used it, targeting Turnip Head. When dawn came I felt punched in the stomach to see that INH had been rezzed. I suspect I was targeted with Imperio though the only way that makes much sense is if the mafia already knew where the Phoenix was. I mean, why would they target me of all people with Imperio?
So mix that into the cake batter and see if we get a less lumpy cake - or is it now more lumpy?

What will happen to either of Quin/speed if the other flips scum?JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 5:38 pmLeast to most:

INH is redundant. I need to remove one name from my pool to feel comfortable.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4
Why is Sloonei such a strong suspect? Why is Quin so marginal given his apparent contradiction of your night actions? Who would be the most likely partners for Quin if we assume he is a dirty rotten liar? Do you have anything more specific to say about Jack?speedchuck wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 5:42 pm Jay - town because he doesn't bus teammates in the same way he did INH
nutella - town because tone and meta and everything else basically
DH - Town because he is
Mac - Pisses me off. Town because tone. Mafia because upset with vig kills and promoting bogus theories. Waffles.
poutanko - Town because she is sweet and innocent and has good scum interactions and because no scum would fake a cop check right now right?
Quin - Possible liar, unless he was misdirected. Townread otherwise.
Colin - Town because cop check and I've been reading him town all game. Cares about the roof.
kara - Town because genuine emotion in early posts
Jack - Weakest townread for me, but seems genuine
Luna - Town because she's made way more mistakes than she does as scum
Sloonei - Was only town because lack of self-preservation. Long Con flip changes that. Fake, scum, blegh
sprityo - No reason to townread whatsoever
timmer - Still town yo
speed - No corruption, Rigged witch hunt (seriously vig me tonight so you can use my analysis and info)
INH - Scum

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4
Was this question ever answered?
Additionally, I want to ask who we'd believe more in the Quin vs. Speedchuck split if poutanko's cop claim didn't exist?
And also if there's a scenario in which all three of speedchuck, quin, and poutanko are town and telling the truth?
If these are things that have already been discussed then you can just slap me and point me in the right direction. But I'm hung up on these reported night actions right now and feel like it's the most pressing issue we've got right now.

You built a shoddy case on LC for distance and didn’t expect a wagon to balloon as it did due to other suspicions. You were prepared though since you knew he’d survive.

Re: Hogwarts Mafia - Day 4
I appreciate these thoughts. I suppose another possibility is that quin was simply using protego/wingardium leviosa on his teammate LC, if those are abilities he has access to.juliets wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 8:17 pmOk Sloon, I looked through all of the spells, potions, etc. and the only thing I could find was if Quin gave Long Con the Elixir of Life and someone else targeted LC with Petrificus Totalus which prevents the person targeted from drinking a potion. If that had happened and Speed was watching Long Con he would have seen three people visit LC, Quin, the potion canceller and a vig - unless LC was not killed by a vig. Anyway, it would have been quite complicated and seemingly a 1 in 1000 chance. (I made those numbers up.)Sloonei wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 7:41 pmWas this question ever answered?

Maybe someone else see's something more realistic.
omgosh tons of linki
I suppose my next question in this line (for anybody) would be this: Why does speedchuck come out with this specific story if he is bad?
