Four players start the game out of the thread. They are players in the game and there is a mechanic for them to join the thread. They may not vote or be voted for until they are in the thread. They cannot be targeted by normal means until they are in the thread.
That's... well, I've never seen that before. Was it ever a thing in a previous game on this website?
Assassin’s Creed, also hosted by nanook.
Then there was also inception, which had everything

We have not played together before. What can you tell me about yourselves as players? What sort of things dl you like to do, particularly on Day 1? What do you look for? What can we do to help you settle in and play your game?

Were they specifically alignment based or were there mixed alignments?
I think thet were technically self-aligned, but they were friendly and pro-town.

Votes made in the poll are the official count--if a hammer is reached please screenshot it and send it to me.
Hi. What does “a hammer” mean in this context?
Once a player reaches a certain total in the poll, the day ends and they are eliminated.

I'm agitating to play with, I think. I lean towards banter D1 and poking holes in reads/theories, but it's not often that I make a case myself unless it's mechanical. I don't like theory meta and only opt for player meta when it's a consistent trend (e.g. I'll say something is in someone's wolf meta if it's something I've seen them do every single time they rand wolf).
With D1s, I'm usually outspoken in that it's tough to give a genuine read, barring a screw-up from a wolf or exceptionally anti-town play. I generally veer towards "D1 is a gut shot at best." But D1 behaviour can become relevant later too.
I never do walls. And I've only done an ISO once in 14 games. The closest I get to an ISO is remembering something someone said and then trying to go find it.
What do you mean by “theory meta”?

People have squinted at me for saying that I have "genuine" reads in the past, as if every read I share as town is supposed to be genuine.
So with that in mind, here's a read of unknown sincerity:
Vulgard is mafia.

I raise you: Enrique is a self-aligned third party bulletproof serial killer survivor.
Well I mean, obviously that. I figured it was self-evident and didn't merit a mention at all.

I'm going to do a host read here and say they'll rejoin us after N1 at the very latest. Having people sign up for your game and then be unable to do anything is pretty lame.
In Assassin's Creed the out-of-thread people were doing things. They just weren't in the thread. They joined us like... Day 2 or 3, maybe? But only for one phase, and then retreated back to their home on Mt. Olympus or whatever.

Who has played with Vulgard before?
I think just the people he mentioned on the first page from G-Man's game -- Poison, TSP, and LC.
Interesting. LC was quick to jump on the idea of Vulgard being mafia.
TonyStarkPrime Poison what are your thoughts on this game's version of Vulgard compared to the version you saw in the previous game?

I don't like Alison's thin read on Long Con, I don't think it's reasonable to townread him for such a thing this early.
I like Sloonei, though. I like how he's already hardcore solving, and he's doing that in a way which doesn't come across as forced.
To answer his question -- I'm honestly not sure how to answer it at this point, because my playstyle tends to be pretty fluid. I usually try to find mafia and/or town through macro reads, and when I want to push a mafia, I case them, like I did last game. This means that I am invariably stumbling around blind on day 1 and only later developing the ability to find people's alignments with higher confidence.
TL;DR Focus on macro reads, gets better as the game goes on, usually.
Sloonei's posts don't strike me as "hardcore solving". Walk me through what about Sloonei's posts struck you as being particularly high effort.
How would you describe my posts?

I want Vulgard to have room to breathe. So far his throat has been thoroughly jumped down. I’ve never played with him before and it’s entirely possible that the things we’re eying him for are just Vulgard playing mafia.

@TonyStarkPrime @Poison what are your thoughts on this game's version of Vulgard compared to the version you saw in the previous game?
I lean scum on Sloonei right now because these questions don't feel like they have any solving intention behind them. They're just filling out his post count. The first one especially rubs me the wrong way. The only thing I assume about this Nanook game is that the out-of-thread element is not the same as his last game, because I expect Nanook to have a bit more creativity than that. I expect, at the very least, a fun twist on it that would intentionally subvert our assumptions based on the previous game. Standard 'sequel' stuff.
That said, I can't see what value Sloonei expected from that question. There's nothing alignment-indicative about the way nutella answers this, and there's probably little relevance to this game.

I am Bargain Bin Jay no more.
That's really great! What does that mean, though, you are #1 out of the hundreds that played? How do the rankings work?
Basically it means I get to win every argument about mafia from now until the end of time, and I get a special undertitle on MU.

I think it's a pretty ugly look that Vulgard's "throat has been thoroughly jumped down" but nobody seems to want to actually vote him. I think there is a good chance he is scum and his teammates bussed for early distance but are afraid to commit the vote because they were scared by the apparent steam his wagon was building and didn't want to lose a member so rapidly.
We have nearly 48 hours left in Day 1. I don’t think it behooves us to pile votes on one person immediately.

I mean, I'm not saying hammer him right now, but like when I read through a thread of various people all attacking Vulgard and then I check the poll and I'm the literal only person on it, I get suspicious.
I unvoted him a moment after you voted for him. I don’t like runaway polls early in phases.

It looks pretty good for Enrique actually.
I think so too, more so if Vulgard is bad. If Vulgard is town and Scum Enrique sees the thread piling on him early he can do the old knight in shining armor shtick here. But if Vulgard is mafia, I have a hard time seeing his teammate showing up at this phase to say "Nah, this guy is town" and then backing it up with what amounts to a shrug.

Sloonei's been fine. He made his point re: Vulgard. Unvoting early D1 isn't sus to at all. There's a written record of his read. It'd be suspicious if his voting record ends up not matching his reads, but that's days from now.
I don't think my handling of vulgard is the reason LC suspects me.
idk if funnygurl actually suspects me or if she's just voting for laughs
