This game. I’ll pull some posts tonight but he’s seemed off in a few different ways, he hasn’t been as aggressive and he’s had more focus than I normally see from town Epi.

I have never liked approaching this line on kill analysis, especially on Night 1. It almost never works and has the only purpose of eliminating entire possible teams which is never a reasonable goal because it’s super specific and gets WIFOMy anyways. I don’t think many mafiosi would ever make a kill that would implicate themself but its so crazy WIFOM that they might for fun. In any case Sig would have killed Dizzy so it’s all negated. Or anyone else would have cause he was a top poster with some amount of Indy suspicion.

There’s maybe meta to it but fundamentally when you're looking at the actions of a team it’s hard to draw any one contributor.

This is impressive and also ostensibly exactly what I’d expect from whatever image of town Epi I felt hadn’t been upheld. I’m not sure how compelling the case actually is though. I don’t think voting late is scummy, I don’t think voting for the person you didn’t voice suspicion for is scummy. Because I think scum try harder to appear authentic in general. Obviously it plays well as exactly Creature/Luna w/w but outside of that it doesn’t make sense.
And as Creature/Luna w/w that’s some heavy distancing to then not take the easy bus opportunity.

The first two statements have a real calculation behind them. I don't think a civ would care this much about trying to define the makeup of a Lynch train. It's day 1. Stuff happens and we vote. But why worry about how a mislynch would look? A civ shouldn't care how a Lynch would look to baddies at all, and a civ seems less likely to use the term mislynch here because a civ rej doesn't know what drag is.

I disagree myself. I think Rej is just awkward in his wording. Think I remember that from the game he was miller (town) as well. I also feel that him insisting that "Drag should read me town" is truthful. I hear town say that much more than scum.
This is my largest caveat with Rej- the wording of his posts is gauche, such that I have trouble interpreting them as coming from a schemer. Maybe Rej isn't a schemer. I don't know.

A nice last second townread on Rej coming after some more pointed arguments throughout the day. Epi pushed comparatively hard for a lynch there and mentioned Creature, as far as I can tell, once. Then voted for Creature.

Outside of meta that’s a strong point I’d be willing to run with, the meta addition isn’t really much.

Revisiting this. I still think it’s fake. Given that Luna has like a dozen posts I’ll take some other takes on it. It takes some amount of courage to reply to someone you just killed I’d almost never do it as mafia and I’m pretty gutsy with stuff like that. It’s a very easy thing for town to do. But I don’t feel good about it.

Why is a lynch better than a vig shot for gaining info, when roles are revealed by night and by day?

Vig shots are always inherently more unreliable than lynches even in the hands of the best players so there’s a safety argument but here most of today is going to waste while we wait for the match to set off Luna, no discussion about the lynch or much anything else. If we pretend she’s off the table then it’s like “oh look at that we can have discussions yay we’re town pay no attention to the obvious mafia member we just somehow saved.”

To actually answer the question let’s say there’s player X who has a 60 percent chance of being scum and player Y who has a 95 percent chance of being scum. If X flips town, rough life but there’s no additional scrutiny for those who pushed the X is scum theory. If X is scum there’s no scrutiny for those who pushed X is town.

The long and the short of my opinion is "scum players should have to approve replacements consisting of any players they had any hand in eliminating."

Like if I'm scum and I eliminate a player because they are a scary townie or because they suspect me, the host should not then put them right back in the game.

But if the sker kills that same scary player, wolf Jack shouldn't have a say in them coming back or not.

Also, I just find the "no lynching replacements" thing fascinating and haven't played out the game theory of what that would mean for a game. I think that shouldn't happen at lylo and there are some problematic things like a red peeked wolf vigilante replacing out and now the town can't lynch them and the wolves get an extra kill via replacement. Overall, I do think giving replacements a free day is certainly a nice thing to do for replacements. Like replacing in and getting lynched for scummy things the old player did sucks and that's one reason players don't like to sign up as replacements. Another is having to act without catching up and this gives the players a guaranteed amount of time to catch up and then make an impact.

So it's probably a net positive except in some corner cases.

Someone tell me what I think about this as it pertains to Jack and this game and not about replacements.

The first two statements have a real calculation behind them. I don't think a civ would care this much about trying to define the makeup of a Lynch train. It's day 1. Stuff happens and we vote. But why worry about how a mislynch would look? A civ shouldn't care how a Lynch would look to baddies at all, and a civ seems less likely to use the term mislynch here because a civ rej doesn't know what drag is.

The third statement makes me wonder about btsc.

I'm not convinced epi is town from it, I'm still not totally clear on how many factions are at play but even if he is really hunting scum he's not necessarily town. However, I have been imagining him as being on sig's team, so is there another team such that that could be true as well as his proposed suspects? I really need to actually read the setup lol.

Nutella is known waffler. She often doesn't taken real stances.
But she's not really even doing that. She's only hugging other people's suspicions and then complaining those suspicions aren't being created fast enough for her.

I took a quick glance at her posts and did not get this impression.

A few things that have been said about luna looked good to me, and she made one post earlier that looked like mafia trying to downplay suspicion. That constitutes a strong vote for me at this moment in time.

Thats the end of the 3:30 Dom ISO. It was rather short lived, some high quality posts and reactions but very little in terms of full substance in analysis. It also all feels off to me. The thing with sig seems forced, the case on Rej (and Nutella for that matter) seems noncommittal for how much effort was put in on Dom’s part, it just seems off.

Flip side thought though: one of the three almost has to be scum just on probability, if LC is town or scum. Would there ever be two? Maybe? If only one is scum who is most likely scum?

The long and the short of my opinion is "scum players should have to approve replacements consisting of any players they had any hand in eliminating."

Like if I'm scum and I eliminate a player because they are a scary townie or because they suspect me, the host should not then put them right back in the game.

But if the sker kills that same scary player, wolf Jack shouldn't have a say in them coming back or not.

Also, I just find the "no lynching replacements" thing fascinating and haven't played out the game theory of what that would mean for a game. I think that shouldn't happen at lylo and there are some problematic things like a red peeked wolf vigilante replacing out and now the town can't lynch them and the wolves get an extra kill via replacement. Overall, I do think giving replacements a free day is certainly a nice thing to do for replacements. Like replacing in and getting lynched for scummy things the old player did sucks and that's one reason players don't like to sign up as replacements. Another is having to act without catching up and this gives the players a guaranteed amount of time to catch up and then make an impact.

So it's probably a net positive except in some corner cases.
If it helps, the game's rules say no replacements of any kind will happen after Night 4.

I hate LyLo replacements even more than I hate modkills.
I hate lylo replacements but I hate going into lylo where the town literally cannot win for lack of active votes even more.

It’s the most stupidly frustrating thing and it theoretically devolves into a meta where mafia can play silent all game and take some easy wins and then town has to take random shots on the people who haven’t done anything and that’s just not fun for anyone it’s why all games should have a vig or sk or game mechanic dedicated to killing low/no posters and that’s my soapbox let’s save the rest of it for after the game is over

That isn't my hypothesis. It's a stretch. I'm not talking about all mafia members at all times. I'm talking about Michelle's activity during a particular Day phase in a particular context.

I was referring within just that day phase. Context is obviously different in all cases.

I’d be more inclined to believe a post like that to be town if Luna were found scum, because on the assumption (which in your credit you haven’t taken) that the Luna lynch were inevitable any scum would want to push that train.

To that assumption: could I have, if I had really tried, gotten Jack lynched? Or Drago? I don’t think so. Was there anyone else who could have gotten someone lynched? I cannot come up with a scenario after the first 2 or so hours of the day phase where a Luna lynch wasn’t in the cards.
