Wait are you advocating the position that on D1 the mod publicly outed two mafia members and 3 townies?

I skimmed all 200+ posts of cBob's in Mountains and didn't find any vote on a lurker (except right before he died, he voted for then MIA and inactive sig, but then changed it to Quin as a final vote). He was civ in that game and voting for vocal, active players.

why is no one else sensing something off in cbob's inactive vote placements and now Iron_Dwarf, he isn't a vocal player, and him asking me "who" he should vote for vs. his voting patterns in Mountains mafia which were unlike this despite there being several lurkers or inactives.

Also me asking who I should vote for was a not of a sarcastic response because you apparently didn't like any of my votes because they were for lower post people even though I'd expressed concrete suspicions of everybody except lapluie. And if you noticed I didn't say "who should I vote for" but "who would be an acceptable vote", which is a different question.

I haven't played many games with you. What's your policy on lynching inactives/low posters as a general rule?
Most games I've played in have been majority lynch games, so lynching inactives is a bit of a double edged sword but generally helps lower majority which helps lynch mafia. Not sure how this experience carries over into plurality vote games.

Low posters, to me, is a bit different, because the easiest way for mafia to avoid being caught in a lie is to post as little as they can get away with. It's also difficult to form reads of people who don't post much. Both of these reasons provide incentive to pressure low posters.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]

dunya wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2018 10:16 am if it wasn't sarcasm, colonialbob, I have no intention of dictating who can vote for who, I just based it off my last memory of you in Mountains where you were calling people like Sloonei, Jack, Jay, etc. into suspicion and waffling between rabbit/lap here. Every vote is acceptable, I just found the pattern slightly alarming is all.

p.s. aren't all games "majority lynch" games?
No, this game is what I'd refer to as a plurality lynch, because you don't need a majority of the active players to vote, just the most votes of whoever is voting. If there's 10 players, and 4 vote for A while 3 vote for B and 3 vote for C, A is lynched.

Meanwhile on the Realms most games are what I'd call majority vote (what you might know as hammer vote), where you need over 50% of the active players votes to be lynched. If there's 10 players, A isn't lynched unless they have 6 votes. (Also generally days end early when the clinching (aka hammer) vote is placed).

Holy crap this game is complex. I know nothing about what's going on, other than that the shoes I've been selected to fill are like size two-hundred.
I know this isn't helpful, but I have a few questions just to get my bearings. Please be concise.

1. How does this recruitment thing on the main page work?

2. If Sig and Lapluie are public members of badguyia, shouldn't we lynch them?

3. What's the difference between Rico's and Epi's civ things? Is Rico actually playing?

4. . . . anything else I should know as someone who hasn't followed the thread for more than five minutes?

5. Why am I replacing Dunya?
1. Assuming you mean the teams, so far we had 3 people start in Rico's army and 2 people start in badguyia. Night 1 saw princess Epi and her band appear. Also we recruited dunya/you in a poll. It's unclear what it means mechanically, if indeed it means anything.

2. All scum are badguyia, not all badguyia are necessarily scum. Also do you really think jack would mod-confirm 2/5 mafia?

3. No. He wants Pepsi though, which tbh is a lynchable offense in my book.

4. Lol good luck

5. Idk she mentioned something about having stuff come up. She by far leads the thread in posts through the first couple days.

Tell me about the effort to lynch colonialbob.
My opinion on CBob is that he’s done a lot of set up, where he took some posts and gave the argument for why the posts were scummy without saying so. Someone else can pick up the argument later and he doesn’t have to try and carry it. Also an easy way for mafia to create the appearance of majority support without having to commit that many members to a cause.
Overall day 1 he notably pressured RDW, Colin, and Quin in this way, but RDW was saying crazy things and deserved it. Colin and Quin both were pushed as feasible Day 1 lynches but Cbob ended up on Rabbit even though his arguments against the two carried on and almost led to lynch.
Also I ended up on Quin.

colonialbob, I looked through your posts and didn't see you directly addressing Marmot's grievances here. Unless I missed it, you should do that.
I didn't respond directly to his post, I guess, but I have explained my rabbit8 vote a couple times now. I switched back because after ISOing nutella, I felt she was civ, and continued to civ-read Epi. Therefore I wanted to try and offer a viable third option - at the time I switched back, rabbit had another vote (sig) while I was the only person on lapluie.

I still don't understand the drive-by Iron_Dwarf argument, I'd expressed suspicion of him previously. There's been other, more drive-by-y votes that haven't gotten attention.

nutella wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2018 11:14 pm colonialbob do you think Tony would have revealed the Ring role if he was bad?
Absolutely. Don't know all the mafia roles obviously but a "mass roleblock if lynched" isn't something civs can really do anything about. What's the solution, *not* lynch mafia because you're worried they might be Ring? Nah.
OK, fair. What about the argument that that was presumably the only action he sent per gwil's investigation, and if he was mafia he might have some additional action (since they've promoted and seem to have additional roles)?
Possibilities:
A) he didn't use his additional action (by choice or because it's limited)
B) his additional power is passive
C) gwil and Tony are w/w

FWIW the promoted roles we know are Sage (which has an extra oneshot) and Paladin (who gets an upgraded version of the same power).

His arguments have been pretty shit tier and he's been tunnelling me since I came at him, almost ibsessively. And now I'm getting lynched on bs. So when I flip town just remember the people that started this. It's likely 1-2 scum on me while the others follow random wagons tk steer clear. People with more status are more likely to push me
If the arguments are BS why not refute them?

Tell me what you've done with that thing since you initially posted the "results".
I asked a question that nobody has answered.

You and dunya got the top two draft picks.

Other than me, nobody has expressed a lick of suspicion of either of you (except Dr Wilgy).

What does that tell you about the people who said they would draft you or dunya?
Hey woah I may not have scumread dunya but i've hardly been 'dunya townfirm 4eva', I've poked and questioned her.

(I also said I'd draft random, because I would, but eh.)

why?
I mentioned suspciions about you earlier so you can read up on those two, and you seem to be going eith whatever lynch is easy like me and mac. You went for extremely low hanging fruit on my lynch and were the only one to ask me multiple times about why i gave my role to iron dwarf which was extremely weak reasoning. So imo you were trying to oush that angle for my lynch.
Why was it weak reasoning, besides the fact that you don't agree with it?

nutella wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:20 am I could go for lapluie if that's on the table. As it stands it is between cbob and Dr. White, and I'd prefer to lynch the latter but I prefer rdw over either if he can still get enough votes. My preference out of the likely candidates at the moment would be rundontwalk > lapluie > Dr. White > colonialbob. I dunno what happened to lynching Quin though :sigh:
personally: TSP ~= Iron_Dwarf > Kenway > Dr. White > Kites/RDW. But in the interest of self-preservation I'll vote for whoever has the most votes and isn't me, obvi.

colonialbob wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2018 10:22 pm @ColinIsCool the only thing I don't get is why you brought the nightkill into it when we were barely halfway into the day phase?
I straight up don't understand this question any time anybody's asked it. Because the things you do in the day phase affect how the mafia perceives you and if you get nightkilled on day 1, you don't live to day 2, and you can't contribute useful information/win the game? Is there a difference in fundamental game mechanics between this site and everywhere else in the universe Mafia is played that I'm not getting?
Because he still has ~24 hours to talk about why he asked his question and what he felt like he learned. He doesn't want to do so before everybody has responded because that skews what responses he gets.

Obviously ridiculous example: "please everybody name your favorite animal"
*answers by some but not all*
"Hey Epi why did you ask this?"
"Well see anybody who mentions a predator is scientifically proven to be mafia"
*remaining players all name fuzzy herbivores*

Did those last players respond honestly or because they knew what he waa looking for?
CBob on Colin:
Both of the CBob posts here are kind of outrageous. The first one comes out of nowhere and is not as far as I can tell directly related to anything in the thread. It rehashes an old argument from hours ago that got some swing the first time.
Where Colin's response is directly an answer to the question posed by CBob, CBob's counter response is not about that response at all. It goes back to the "Colin not answering Epi" thing, another argument already dissected in thread.
CBob switches off his vote half an hour later.
I don't agree with your interpretation. Thread of the dialogue:

~ colonialbob asks Colin why he was concerned about night kill dynamics re: Epi in the middle of the day phase.
~ Colin responds with incredulity and discusses the longer-term potential of day phase chatter to motivate night phase decisions of the mafia team.
~ colonialbob retorts that Epi still had half the day phase in front of him to do his thing with his exercise, relating to the core question about why Colin didn't Epi that time before raising his gripe about night kills. colonialbob draws an analogy to describe why Epi might not want to reveal his hand.

What's the problem in this thread?
Just for reference here's TSP trying to lay out his case on me. This is the most recent time somebody tried to do so.

I find it unconvincing (as did JJJ), but do you?
