mmmm if I had to choose.... well if i had a *strong* early townread on someone then i'd give it to them. otherwise i'd give it to someone who seemed to completely not want the responsibility or risk of having a strong power role at all. if a player has especially good mafia instincts then that would be frosting but that wouldn't be the basis of my decision.

oh, no that's definitely probable. I'd expect the mafia to take varied approaches to seeking roles. If all of them rushed for the good shit then it'd be super conspicuous but if they all acted super casual about it then they might end up with trash.

there's also the factor that the mafia wouldn't necessarily have to resort to begging to get at least a couple of good roles since they could just give good roles directly to each other and control their team composition that way, without having to beg.

I don't think with the way the role distribution panned out yesterday that would have been necessary or possible. It was a whoever was online first and asking for a role.

probably, if everyone was online and stayed online, but unlike what you and Kyle are saying, I don't see them giving each other all roles between them. That's too ~linky~ and wouldn't happen imo. Only a Marmot would do that.

no not at all. i'm just theorizing. and I don't know where "at least 3" is coming from. i doubt the mafia would rush to make a draft chain to draw the best roles all at once. i'm saying if 2 mafia were online at once and one of them were to receive their role then there'd be extra incentive for the chooser to give their buddy a beneficial role.

pretty sure I mentioned that I civ read rundontwalk in that whole exchange, at least. it's pretty early for me to form opinions on most people though... there's not much to go on and if I try to overanalyze the draft I'll just get a wifom headache

You townread someone and didn't scum-feel anyone out, or at least not to the point of mentioning it and that pings me. If it were any other laid back Day 0, I wouldn't mind, but there's quite a few things that happened. This is scary but good? There's a distinction between town and scum team now. We have so many roles on our side that will make the 5 scum's promotions harder to hide if we get lucky and smart. Everyone with inquisitive roles (like looking into PMs, looking into roles, etc) should really focus on the info they get back. We have 5 day phases and 5 night phases before anyone is eligible for promotion, so there's that. I know this game allows info dumping, but let's not play all our cards our in the open immediately and see what we can hook first, and then make connections later before reeling them in.

He has seemed generally absent or lower in activity in multiple games, so I award him zero points.

I'm still not gonna believe a scum rabbit would know it was his turn, be online, post no when someone asked him for a role, and then disappear till now. If he is salty about being night killed early, at least as scum he'd know he's safe.

I gave you an honest answer. Time constraint is indeed a reason, although it's by choice; it's true that if I absolutely had to read the thread today to make an informed decision about something, I would do so. It is still Day 0, and I am prioritizing my time differently. Instead of reading who got what role in the draft, I did sports research this morning, and I've been playing video games with my boys this afternoon. Yesterday I worked late, cooked, ate, and watched TV with the family for most of the evening.

So what, you think I'm bad, and that I actually have been reading the thread, and that I'm laying low or some shit? Like I need to do that?

He was online. It's not inactivity, it's a conscious decision to not pass the draft on. If he was scum, I feel like he would have been more inclined to move it on.

I don't disbelieve he's not been on since then. My issue is he was here when it was his turn to draft, someone asked him for a role and he said "no" then disapeared. If he was scum, I am more inclined to believe he would have said yes and moved it along. Or something.

I was here when the drafts started, I think the don would've been picked right around the time the drafts started or after but not before, so the don picking out teammates and them subsequently planning for roles in that whirlwind is pretty unlikely. If you looked at the first drafts, it was people who knew each other, then I gave Kylemii Sage because I got Mage and from there he proceeded to continue the line of drafts from the regulars of this site.

But you have this "friendly dummy" attitude in most games which gives me pause.

the only game I've played with a scum Long Con was Seinfeld and that was heavily disguised in roleplay. I've heard a lot of scary things about Long Con's abilities as scum, but apart from witnessing his short time in Phenom 2 (which was also a sock puppet game and he took a bad gambit in it and cut his time short), I haven't seen him in action. can you link me to appease my curiosity?

sorry, I'd say that about anyone else in the world (I've even said that in this thread about sprityo and sig maybe when they were all huffed and puffed out about not being chosen to be mafia?) but not Kenway. That feigning ignorance sort of thing is just not his style at all. He'll happily deceive you, but this particular kind of manipulation and lying and fake oversighting is not Kenway.

That's good to know, although generally I prefer to form my own impressions over trusting meta.

I wouldn't have it any other way, but I'm sticking to my hunches based on what I know. Unless Kenway has developed some serious snake skin, I don't think he'd fake ignorance in that way on a game mechanic and write a paragraph format post about it. Nah.

I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm from Allyia, so I'm guessing RDW, JJJ and Marmot are from Goodguyia and can recruit people to them?

Unless someone is from Goodguyia and isn't in the army, then that theory is debunked.
