Speculating bad based on role and team just isn’t my thing unless there are obvious reasons for me to think it. My scum hunting tactics have always been quite unconventional in that manner. I used to play in games where you’d generally be given a list of all the roles from the host in the beginning, and people would find it odd because I wouldn’t read the roles for days. I remember one game where I got suspicion for not knowing the town win condition, but I was town
It’s why you’ll hear me say time and time again that I’m more comfortable in smaller games with more standard role mechanics, or I’ll play if I absolutely love the theme. This game was a bit of a weird one for me to choose because it ticks none of those things I just mentioned. Anyways, I know you have disagreed with this take, but I still think TSP is Marmot’s teammate based on early comments made. Anything later on I think could have been attempts at distancing. It’s probably stubborn headless, but I can’t get over it.

I think some valid points have been made for the ted connection to marmot, so I could see this as another possibility. I don’t want to be accused of copying again, so I’m just being honest here that it’s in no way my idea but I think it’s got merit.

The rest on the last PoE I listed (al, LC, maybe Dom) have potential scummy behaviour that I don’t identify to any team. Dom’s still included here because he’s such a big question mark that I don’t want to forget about him and give him a free pass.

I know I still have some neutrals, but tbh I feel comfortable not having made up my mind on everyone yet. I don’t play like that. I have a few main suspects to focus on and that is enough for me. I am open minded enough to allow for thinking about others, but I don’t feel like I need to be pressured to decide about them now.

Hey @Strawhenge I’d like to clarify the MacDougall thing for you.

If you look at the original lists of reads, I wrote:
You’ll notice Mac falls under the category of “This group I either have mild bad feelings about or are neutral to the point of wary/need revisiting.”

When JJJ asked me shortly after to clarify my read on Mac is when I explained that he was the second half, or neutral. At that point I was primarily focused on my tsp suspicion, with a few town reads so there was a group there that with varying degrees of feeling that I just felt the need to think about more before I categorised into the PoE or not. (You’ll also note if you look at the original post, I was unsure of my use of the word “PoE” there, which is probably why some neutrals ended up on it. I’m still not completely comfortable with all the new terms)

Why would a mafia just pat someone on the head for being right though? I obviously don’t trust his motivation on this.

Even if tsp isn’t Marmot’s teammate, I just don’t see any of their posts as townie. Maybe it’s tunnel vision, but that’s why I’ve voted tsp both days.

LC is a vibes thing. I can’t really pinpoint much there. It’s definitely not my strongest suspicion and it’s not the most developed right now. I’ve been focused elsewhere, but every interaction I have had with him hasn’t matched the ones I had with him lately when he was town. The others are more suspicious so I don’t plan on voting there now anyways so feel I have more time to think on this one.

Dom I can’t give you anything. That’s the point. I’m keeping him on the PoE since there is nothing. I’m a paranoid player. He could be either team. Really don’t know

I'm going to point out something that is probably obvious to you already: none of these suspicions are very firm. The TSP is probably the most concrete. But in general I would take this to mean that you are not feeling overly confident about your reads on a number of players in the game. Are there any folks in particular that you are having trouble getting a read on one way or another?

I have not addressed my suspicion of LC directly to him. I’ve been questioning him when I found it applicable to help me better figure it out. We’re in the “light questioning” stage.

I’ve been very forthcoming that for better or worse, I have been very focused on tsp and that a lot of my thoughts have been secondary to that. I’m hoping to feel really vindicated when my tunnel vision pays off. I’m going to cry if I am wrong and feel very stupid, but I don’t think I am.

Folks I don’t have much of a read on right now: Michele, spf, jpic, and KZA. I don’t remember what my previous reads have been on them, but right now I’m not feeling strongly either way. While some may be for weak reasoning, everyone else I have a lean one way or the other

Ok well I’ve only seen town nanook, so I admit my read isn’t the best out there. But I’m not going to switch my vote off someone I strongly suspect without damn good reasons.

I'm not a robot. Are there any other differences from that game to this, like the general mood of the thread, the timing, the level of suspicion I was receiving, or a hundred other things that contribute to how a post is written and how it's received?

All of that stuff has been noted. Again it’s why I said I wasn’t planning on voting for you now anyways, and when I was talking to Sloonei in the thread I said I was just lightly questioning you for now when I saw fit while I made my mind up about it more.

I’ve made it clear where my vote is going. There are several other suspects on the list before you and I might have new ones by then as well

Recruitments used to be a big thing back in the day. So I’ve seen it happen before where one team recruited a player that was a member of another team. But the recruited players win condition changed. I’ve never seen a shared player as described and I also don’t understand how that would work.

That’s a lot of the same people. Worth considering I guess, but I’m not sure I’d trust paranoia as an excuse there anyways. It’s ok to be wary of someone for a previous good performance, but I don’t think that’s a good excuse for voting for them.

His lack of an explanation upon request is not a great look either.

If you had to crunch the game down into a 5-player pool of suspects, who would they be?

If I were to crunch the player list to the “least townie” 5 I’d probably end up with Al, Dom, LC, jpic, and maybe Falcon.
But I’m having a hard time picking just 5. Being wrong about tsp is making me question a lot. I still don’t have a great read on spf. I’m less confident on town lean for Bo. I don’t know if we can trust the claims for Odd and KZA. And what if I’m just stupid and wrong in my town read of nanook.

Fingersplints and I don't have experience with TSP. To us, he looked scummy. The Marmot thing alone, which fingersplints banked on, was enough. I recall @Hally saying that this is how TSP is, before the chop. I seem to recall others saying so as well, but I can't immediately recall. So my thought comes in the form of a question:

Who amongst us knew TSP's meta, saw people suspect, vote for, and ultimately chop him—and didn't say, 'That's just how Tony is'?

Bonus question: Who amongst us knew TSP's meta and didn't speak up, but spoke up about other people's meta?

the thing is, tony just finished a game where he wolfed extremely well. he posted more than any wolf in site history and won in F3 of a long grueling game. it’s understandable coming off a win like that one that he faced a lot of paranoia in this game for no real reason. whenever someone has a good wolf performance like that people are always going to be irrationally paranoid the next game so they don’t get duped again

i wasn’t arguing that the paranoia was justified. i was simply saying it’s something that i’ve seen happen a lot after people have very good wolf games. i’m not saying it’s good, but it still happens

Unfortunately yes, it's happening.

I think my Poe would be Al, Falcon, KZA (i rescind TR after i saw the Marmot interaction), and probably Bo (not for drunk/fake drunk posting) for team Marmot.
I think Alison has wolf equity and probably I don't trust SPF and Odd. In this group i think is at least one mafia. For team 2 we can fill with people who are not active, like Dom, but his lynch doesn't bring anything, or with people on the middle/nullish part of everyone's reads.
I still don't understand why a CFD on Dom wasn't discussed until now at all.

What does CFD mean?

I think we still have a strong suspect in Al but I’m definitely on board with getting rid of Dom too.
I come from a time where you had to be alive at the end to win, so I have a lot of residual hatred for players being kept alive who don’t play.

Let’s target the two lowest posters and then stop there.

For me it was he started scumhunting early in a way that felt genuine, so I mentally marked him down as v and haven’t questioned that read until now, probably because he was town read by all and I was focused elsewhere.

Yea that was me. I said I could find him to be Marmots teammate by early actions. (How he suspected jay for suspecting Marmot, then in the next post said his read on Marmot was null, then immediately voted Marmot like he wanted to get in early on that lynch) but that even if that was wrong he could also be a strong candidate for the other team just based on overall scummy behaviour. Obviously I was wrong on all accounts.
