Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 5]

Malakim's "Janitor?" comment has no alignment relevance for a few reasons:

1. It's not a part of the scum roles.
2. Genuine confusion is a great way to seem town, but if given the opportunity, mafia can use it. This was an opportunity.
3. Malakim thought that maybe the 3P role janitored the kill.

Heck, I also didn't know if the nightkills would be janitored until one happened. I suspected, but I didn't scour the OP. I respect Malakim enough to assume that, when replacing in as scum, he can fake confusion well enough. Especially when it is applied to mechanics that genuinely hasn't looked at.

I wouldn't say it's a scumtell either. Just a big ol' nothing

Nah. He's been here what, 2 in-game days? That's long enough.

Oh, sorry, I didn't call it. Malakim.
do you feel his lack of contributions aren't more along the lines of of overwhelmed townie?

What are your reasons for voting for malakim?

He's one of my suspects too, so if no one else wants to park on Wilgy, I may be inclined to follow you with a malakim vote but I didnt want to rush into it without giving him a chance to get settled and tell us stuff so we can judge him more fairly. His contributions so far haven't sat well with me. I was in the same boat but felt it necessary to share my thoughts on everything as I went along. He was a lot more reserved.
I'm voting him for lack of contributions? News to me. I thought I was voting him based on vote placement. His contributions aren't really lackluster, it's the direction that bothers me.
"That's long enough" is referring to me not feeling bad about lynching someone who just replaced in.

Granted, it's daystart, my vote is prone to move. We'll see.

Once, in SF2 mafia. He was scum. I correctly suspected him for a lot of the early game and a couple of the other scum members later, but I was on top of my town game in that game. Then inactivity happened, town never got anywhere, and I got killed.

A variant of #3. I think INH is a perfectly valid suspect given that he has 0 posts and I counted the same number of direct references to him in Jay's ISO. But plopping votes on him early when there's plenty more substantive suspects to go after isn't my desired method of scum hunting, and I was hoping a harsh stance would provoke a strong reaction of Epi because he's a whirlwind of content when he gets going and it's fun.
I'm sure Epi will join us. I'm just trying to ward off a semantic discussion of whether scumhunting is stifled by early votes on inactives or not. I am pretty sure Epi would be happy to oblige, but this thread is long enough.

I suppose I already have. Just haven't posted anything.

It doesn't rule them out as teammates, but when I read it, it didn't seem like distancing. Cbob seems honest here in his question, and it doesn't really make JJJ look good at the time. I sense no planning or anything BTSC. Even if they were scum, this seems like an honest interaction. More likely if Cbob is town.

I'd certainly rather focus elsewhere today. Cbob is maybe my 5th or 6th most likely scumspect.

It's probably the best point for Malakim, unless the kill was locked in early. With Jack's legacy post as is, in Malakim's spot, I wouldn't want the last thing an engaged and confirmed town said to be suspecting of me. WIFOM though, as well as the timing of the nightkill getting sent in. Malakim hasn't even been around. Just a thought.

I do remember jack being the only one after Quin. I should probably ISO jack's most recent day.

No. You're a suspect to me because

1) I believe Jimmy and Dom/Mal are w/w and you voted to save Dom/Mal. Worse, you did so with no reasoning or conviction.

2) You voted Wilgy with all my other suspects instead of Jimmy or Speed, which no explanation, creating a scenario where the only town read of mine between the three of them was more likely to be lynched as of an hour before EOD.

3) You keep handwaiving the incredibly strong cases against Mal (obviously saved by Jimmy) and Quin (obviously trying to save Mal and then Jimmy and refuses to say why).

I don't actually care one way or another about your vote for Jimmy. If you hadn't voted or said anything at all, the outcome would be the same.
This bothers me, because I'm prone to find a few townreads and stick to my guns REALLY HARD on them. You're one of those townreads. You still read town. But it bothers me that you haven't moved against malakim in any substantial way. (I know you already probably responded to this somewhere. This game has too many posts.)

The first paragraph is reasoning through Quin's motives. That's fine. I mean, if you were to ask me who I suspected at this particular point in the game, I could respond in 5 seconds with my top 2 scum reads. Easy. So while your reasoning for motive might be correct, it is at least equally likely that the opposite motive is correct.

But rather than add extra evidence to support your read of Quin's inner thoughts and motives, you double down in paragraph 2.
"Why me and eloh?" Fair question.
"Why not Cbob or speedchuck or sog or LC?" I dunno, why WOULD he suspect those out of the blue? What are you expecting?
"Why specifically list those two players?" Either they are his two prime suspects, or he's listing them out of convenience. Again, what are you expecting?
"You weren't specifically asked for 2 suspects." And now you're acting like the number matters. If you wanted a rainbow, you should have asked.

I don't read this line of questioning as scummy, necessarily. Townies can tunnel too. But don't get sarcastic with me when I say that your argument is reaching. Find some substance somewhere else.

Speculating Quin's motives is fine. Questioning Quin about being reserved is fine. But that second line of questions, based off of a couple of innocuous reads, is reaching. Or, at least, it is until Epi comes in here and tells me there's a more accurate word for what you're doing with that second paragraph.

I considered for a second labeling this as off-topic, but IDK. Others might find your reaching questions to be a scum indicator. So long as you're buzzing Quin, though, do you have any other evidences to support this Quin mindset? Preferably from another post?

The questions at the end of that post also weren't evidence? They were questions for Quin to answer.
My bad, I guess. I assumed those were rhetorical, seeing as how you ended with a statement and not a question.

Malakim is suspected for more than one reason. To not lynch him because of guilt is ridiculous. But sure, talk about someone else.

Previous Mal was a low poster, but didn't disappear. Don't remember much else though. Been a while, short game.

I agree that cBob's posts looked overly defensive concerning Malakim for no reason.

Epi is joining the tinfoil sloonei train. Keikaku doori. Does anyoe have experience with scum!sloonei? (JJJ probably does, but he scum and dead)

Bob is my strongest suspect independent of all players without 3 J's in their name.

I supported the lynch by the end of the day, but I opposed it initially for two reasons: malakim's reaction to the janitored nightkills looked like authentic surprise which I did not think made sense coming from a player who would have had a hand in the killings. And the argument that "Jay lynched Mesk to save Dom/mal" on Day 3 was stupid.
But you still wouldn't vote for him.

Indeed. I did not need to. I made a post about this.
:dark: linki: I know, I saw it. I don't like it. Looking at your other mafia game that I was in with you, you're still meta-town, but I dislike that post.

Say, if cbob is town, who will you suspect next?
How about if he's scum?

I don't like independent suspects. Our baddies are not bad in a vacuum.

Sloonei wrote: Tue Dec 05, 2017 12:10 pm What do you not like about my post?
There was no reason for you to vote malakim.
There was no reason for you NOT to vote malakim.
Because the post exists, you clearly considered voting malakim. It was on your plate.
Then you decided against it and thought it was important enough to note.
Why?

The only reason that makes sense to me is that you suspected (or KNEW :feb: ) that Malakim would flip town, and didn't want your vote record to look even worse. So you made a note of it and kept the vote off.

But that's just the way I would logically process the situation. You might be different. But if you were going to leave your vote alone, why notify us? IDGI.

linki: this game is cool. I come from a place with 120/48 Day/Night phases. With no talking at night. Full week per day. Yep. This game is trucking along, and you're being a very responsible host.
