I think the Jack/Nutella thing was interesting, primarily because of reactions to it. Tedxtr's reaction was notable, like he was incredibly pro-nutella and focused on nutella. Dunno if that's changed.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 1]

So, what I got from Dys was that they presented some form of reluctance to town read S~V~S even though it's most likely a town slot

Here's why : I initially town read S~V~S's engagement with sig, I didn't sense any TMI / subtle pushing back at sig for his read, moreso S~V~S was rather confused at sig and was trying to understand his push, which is really townie. However, other than that, there wasn't anything to town read other than her tone, but nothing exceptionally townie outside of that. Afterwards, I came across the Jack vote and I thought it was scummy because I was also scum reading nutella at the time and that call out on Jack made me irk and I was left with a sour taste ever since then. I had other stuff to focus on and I was really ambivalent towards S~V~S and after Dys pointed that out, it made me rethink of S~V~S's push on Jack and came to the conclusion that it was a town thought just because scum would almost never do that kind of push especially if they're defending a buddy.

It's a combo of these stuff that made me resonate with Dys' observation there

And, also, when my nutella scum read was essentially nullified, I perceived S~V~S's vote differently, I think it irked me more because of the timing of it.

Meh I think nullified is too strong, I guess like...Went under the radar and made me focus on other stuff, which is what I usually tend to do. There's too much shiny shit that I need to grab. In this case it was MR.

Hey I think G-man has decent odds at flipping scum by the way, anyone wanna talk about it?

Also, MR has been talked about by everyone early game, everyone threw jabs at him but he never got hard pushed so it makes me happier to see his wagon grow.

So was G-Man, but a much lower percentage.

Those popped at me the most. Colin's read on Michelle stunk of lazy focusing on something that can easily be faked, and I still don't see how he doesn't understand what Michelle had to say. He called Michelle out on her Radishes read and then he reads radishes exactly the same sort of way to the post he previously quoted.

G-man I already stated my suspicions on. He had an early sucky post and nothing's been townier thus far. No reason to warm up to his slot at all.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Night 1]

The reason you're on the lower end is because I remember your early start that was aesthetically pleasing. I saw you had good , well-timed questions but I am sort of reluctant to town read you fully because, other than that, I honestly don't remember anything else you've done. I just remember you being there and kind of skimming your posts. I'm wanting to see some sort of aggressive push from you or something.

Dys I had tons of mindmelds with. At first I thought the way they came in the thread saying "Watch me do nothing this game, what are you gonna do about it" kind of attitude and then giving that read on Michelle felt sort of contradictory, emotionally speaking. As in, you imply you don't give a crap, but you post a shallow read on Michelle, like you felt forced to do it. I also thought it was too early of a town read, even for Michelle, which I also have tons of meta with. Otherwise, their recent content has been good and we mindmelded ever since that initial scum lean.

TSP's a read that's like broadly applied to my mental map of how town!lurkers approach a game as opposed to scum!lurkers. There's no scum agenda behind his posting, and with scum lurkers, the usual mentality is "ah I gotta post something good to make up for my absence" and that usually turns into awkward reads on people and shit. The reason he's that low is because I didn't like his early Jay read joke thing which read as awkward and I want to look for some form of thought process that I can easily follow through and get rid of this paranoia for his slot. It's this low because it's a general approach to reading lurkers and I need some more context to be more confident in it.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Night 1]

No it doesn't? I started out with an early scum read and I'm explaining how it turned out to be otherwise. Once my initial theory on her trying to fake bravado and seeing she dropped the shtick, after she started posting a lot, I started getting lukewarm about the slot and between skims I saw some reads that expressed the EXACT same thoughts I had (re : S~V~S) which was an uncontroversial read that it was hard explaining but I appreciated someone else having the same thought. It could be bad reasoning but I sometimes am not, uh, really mindmelding with anyone and having someone occasionally do just that just makes me instantly town read them. Been liking their progress and in hindsight, the whole "watch me slank" and this obviously not being the case is probably more town indicative, because they thought they'd have no reason to play this / just wanted to roll with the whole "i'mma have fun", but they can't stop commenting on posts to extract information. So the hypocrisy here comes from town.

Time out.

There are twenty-three names you could have chosen. You picked six. Sloonei was one. You're telling me that Sloonei makes your top six based on his "early start" being "aesthetically pleasing?" What the hell does that mean? Were his posts color coordinated?

You "honestly don't remember anything else" he's done, and yet he makes your top six?

You're still waiting for "some sort of aggressive push" but he's in top six.

Get out of here with that.
As in he has good tone. There are certain things he's done, off the top of my head, he had a good reaction to sig's comment about early town blocks and I kind of just skated with that, because there are other people in here.

He made the top six because I really put a lot of stock in how someone starts their game, and from early game what makes easy town reads for me are tone and jokes. Some of his questions also make me feel good about him, but that's all early game and I reminded myself of those *because* I don't remember anything particularly scummy out of him, but nothing that can lock him town yet, which is why I wanted to see some form of push. I haven't read his radishes case yet but I'll probably get to it in a bit. So yeah, I put stock in early tone reads and jokes, but I know that it's a bad reason but just can't help myself but to town read someone for exuding self-confidence. Me knowing it's a bad reason is why he's placed amongst the last of the people in that list, but he's there because there's nothing that I am feeling bad about atm, but it's just because he hasn't done anything exceptionally townie either.

Hope you can follow that train of thought.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 2]

I honestly think you’re town and the push on you kind of makes me suspicious of the people on you.

G-Man has been a point of contention ever since day one, so has Radishes. Some people have expressed their reasoning for scum reading G-Man and yet nobody’s really pushing it, and the fact you’re being pushed over him, especially when people are claiming he ain’t done anything makes me sick to my stomach.

Lynch people that are scum.

Also, the case sig presented (which seems like the main reason people are voting you) is easily refutable by you asking in one of your posts “yo sig why are you voting me?” If you were Saitama you’d have known you silenced him so that question makes no sense. I am honestly surprised nobody pointed this out.

Especially going as far as to mention him, which meets a level of expectation of “why hasn’t he tried to engage with me / talk to me” which he couldn’t have done in one post before reaching a scum read on you. First ask questions, then reach a conclusion, and you having that thought is the closest thing to an easy derp clear like sig did on Day 1.

In here he just posted his thoughts and didn’t force anything. His questions in Inception also sucked and he had a general agenda of looking townie, whereas in here he does seem to go at his own pace.
'His posts stuck out...' - yeah, for you reading in retrospect, sure. If they were that obvious, why didn't he get lynched right away?

And also, context is necessary. Inception was a game Mac had invited a lot of his new Champs friends to, and he presumably had more time to play. I'm not at all surprised he's playing differently here regardless of alignment.
tedxtr wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2020 4:57 am I honestly think you’re town and the push on you kind of makes me suspicious of the people on you.

First, the tone seems too confident about Mac being town.

Secondly, why push G-Man as your counter example instead of me? I've been far more bandied about as a lynch. I actually don't know that this is scummy, but it's odd.

Third, you think Mac trying to engage with Sig refutes him being Saitama? I guess no one has ever lied in a game of Mafia before. :haha:

Honestly, this defence feels a bit straw-graspy and is also quite confident about Mac's 'town' alignment, and I question whether a townie would write it. :|
First, I think you’re putting a lot more stock into how I’m reading you when my suspicion was more of a “he’s not doing anything and has shit tone so i’m fine voting there” which feels rather weird. You even mentioned how my vote on you would express towards that, even though it’s not in these exact words, but this is essentially what you were doing as well. I wasn’t really scum reading you heavily because I had nothing to go based off of. I do have for G-Man. You started posting a lot more of your analysis, which was what my initial vote was based on, you not doing anything. I think this angle that you’ve taken is really opportunistic because I don’t remember saying anything about your slot other than placing a vote on you or calling you scum for not doing anything. This dichotomy is weird, do you feel like I should be voting you right here or? I don’t get it. It seems like disingenous posturing, you mentioned I was looking elsewhere while voting you, so I wasn’t really scum reading you, and i clearly stated reasons for scum reading G-Man and pushing him.

Secondly, yes, I think that posting is real and it doesn’t even matter if he’s Saitama or not, my point was I expect mafia members to know of each other’s actions so that just spews him not scum.

Going back to my point about G-Man, you’ve been constantly poked and when you started doing shit, people kind of either left you or voted you anyway, which probably means you’re town, whereas G-Man has been poked, he’s on people’s scum lists, people have actual reasoning to vote there and yet he’s constantly being avoided. People comment on how bad he looks and never hard push him. But people do push you though.

I mean, Mac’s play just reminds me of All My Circuits really, and me having an obvious scum read on him reading Inception and seeing how easy he is to be caught as scum, of course I’m going to lean the opposite because I can’t find anything scum about him in this game, so what’s your point?

How is this even relevant for anything? I didn't even play Inception, what matters how other people in the game perceived him compared to how I perceived him from an objective stance? what?

Also, you hinting towards activity levels changing a person's playstyle to be either more scummy or townie is a horrible point. Also also, if it's "presumably", then "context is necessary" isn't necessary.

It's about people's posts not how much they post, who even mentioned I was scum leaning him based on his activity?

You moved the goalposts from me saying "his posts were clearly making him scum" to "well because he was active you scum read him" which i've never even hinted towards

I would've perceived it as fake if I had a reason to believe he was scum. Which I don't. Because, once again, he has nothing scummy about him.

Jumping from me not having any reasoning to scum read a slot that I've easily scum read in the past to believing an alleged "fake attempt at derp clear because he's scum" requires some kind of mental contortion to get to that conclusion.

I mean you’re pushing something that just isn’t AI as a reason to TR mac, and it just isn’t.
My point was that I'm not seeing scum Mac here unlike his Inception game where I sniped his ass page 10 or something.

I mean, there isn't really any question coming from Dys towards me, so how do you expect me to engage that? It's just a tinfoil that I don't care about. Should I?
