hi i rolled town!

i was worried earlier what would my opener be if i rolled scum. cuz ppl say when im town im obvious. so like, i was already sweating about letting my team down if i randed maf

thankfully i can procrastinate the inevitable. not today. i can repel any scumreads or anything without even trying, i just need to be honest and put my faith that the person on the other end will see im town. feels good. its so polarizing, the difference between playing as town and playing as mafia

that was a rly funny post urist. both of them were rly funny (drug dealer and u knowing game starts at 8 pm edt for no reason). u have a great sense of humor and u seem like a nice lad.

Early townreads are always good and correct and early scumreads are less than ideal and not very accurate in my personal and subjective view of mafia theory

the other way around i think. ur scumreads need to be 4x times more accurate than rand for them to compete with a townread, no?

and beside that, just in general, like. town can do literally anything. by making a scumread, u are judging what a town can or cant do. thats rly hard to do. ive seen town do literally anything. i havent seen scum do literally anything. by making a townread ur judging what a scum would or wouldnt do. thats a bit easier. so its more accurate in my personal and subjective warped view of mafia theory

the last thing i wanna say about this is:

if u townread someone and the reason is bogus, ur still way more likely to be right than if u scumread someone and ur reason is bogus

so if u make a scumread u better be sure its good, cuz the dice reroll (saved by rand) is much less likely to occur, so ur relying primarily on ur reasoning to be good and accurate

I dont trust myself to make good scumreads, i shouldnt give in to peer pressure and do them just cuz a lot of other ppl do them, and i kinda ... dont trust other ppl to make good scumreads early too

most players dont put so much effort to wolf as u, i dont think i should change the fact that i townread u for that effort, i think the correct approach is to just identify u as an anomaly

urist - highest confidence since i believe my brain is convinced i have a meta townread on him. a bit hard to articulate. the slacker in me wants to say "i wont explain unless someone asks me" to save effort but if i wanna improve in mafia maybe i should kick the habit of being lazy and pre-emptively put in the effort even if i dislike it. also maybe this is a lesson i should apply in irl too (dont run away from effort and dont procrastinate). anyway. i think its very towny how he talked about a script to track votes (as in effort-wise. putting in effort in something non-tangible. same reason i townread carotte for making her gif meme). actually not sure if i can articulate the meta part of my read itself. maybe i should try to make stuff out of nothing and just focus on the Real Numbers and not on the Imaginary Numbers. maybe saying "i think this person is town due to meta" is good enough and ppl who complain about meta are a bunch of crybabys and i shouldnt be peer pressured into not using meta to win mafia games cuz of their complaints. also im biased to further tr urist because 112 (another townread of mine) is also townreading them.

112 - (recency bias makes me wanna put him at the top, but if i try to outsmart my own bias, i think my cosmic self would prefer him right here). reasons listed at post 150. also him ignoring my benson post could just be accidental but if its not its probably >rand towny in a vacuum (villager whos focused on solving) as oppposed to scum taking the chance to post filler but this is built on a lot of assumptions so its not a very "clean" argument but it is there

i remember last game a bunch of ppl were saying "day 0 only for memes etc etc". its interesting how unwritten rules influence ppl. cuz like, its literally the same game, the same day, but if we arbitrarily think of day 0 as non-serious then we treat it as less serious even tho its just the first 24 hours of day 1 technically. like ive never seen someone say "wow this game sure is lively for the first 24 hours of day 1"

ive actually did this before. i was wrong on a player in 5 games in a row. i got pissed and townread him in the 6th and then reversed it and yeeted him and he ended up being town.
