Eh, I mean, of course it's performative. Every player is performing. The question is what the performer's motivation is. It's a ludicrous fallacy, albeit a common one, to think that town don't have to perform.

I wouldn't read much into the "discrediting" idea, though, since idk how IBA plays but I have definitely seen players of both alignments immediately discredit themselves on their own posts (myself included). Like, if the player is aware they do it as town, they can absolutely do it as scum because they know they do it as town (and perhaps because they get townread for it). Basically - I wouldn't give it a pass. I don't think it's inherently scummy but it's something I am still thinking about, with whatever braincells I have left.

What a novel take, I haven't had reads because...? I had just entered the thread, I was drunk, and didn't want to catch up on reading just yet?

I mean, I can understand DaughterOfOmega's point that I haven't done anything of note, because that's undeniably true. But whats the point of comparing my content to hers and saying my posts don't live up to my (questionable) reputation if I made it clear I wasn't really doing much solving when I was there? I offered to real-time and said I'd catch up later, but there wasn't much going on that I felt I could jump into since I was missing the surrounding context. And that one thing I did jump in on, which was just IBA and HK talking about reading each other, didn't even end up amounting to what I thought it would. So yeah, it was a dumb wasted opportunity on my part, I wanted to generate some sort of debate but completely failed at it.

Anyway, I'm here to generate debate today but I'll also be busy for most of the day so you're still gonna have to deal with me popping in and out of the thread and not catching up. If you want to wagon me over my blatant noncommittal stance toward solving, that's fine, just don't expect me to catch up on the thread before EoD because I can't be arsed to.

Ive only played two games with him, I think, one where he was town and one where he was scum, but anyway that's my experience. Wouldn't clear him for claiming, BUT I would consider that he could be town just based on others' reactions to his claim (as I mentioned before).

I iso'd creature and can't say I came out with a strong opinion on him. He just feels meh, like I do remember thinking he felt painfully towny when he was town in a game we were in before, but I also remember he kind of lurked there too so activity is the least of my concerns. Idk, I kind of feel like I would just let him do the self-resolve thing tomorrow, and if he doesn't either die tonight or self-resolve as promised tomorrow, we can yeet him then. There are other options for today, anyway.

I took a quick look at the few posts Le Petit Poussin has made and I see absolutely nothing that makes me want to townread them. They also have so few posts that I'm not sure it's fair to scumread them, so I'd still like to see more, but I do think their posts kind of stink on a general level, reading as commentary rather than contribution, and if it's true that they're a newbie then it's newbie wolfy tbh. If they're experienced, then idk what the heck they're doing.

What's the point of faking being drunk? Like what does that accomplish? I wouldn't really expect DZ to hide behind faking being drunk, if only because I'm aware he does play while drunk and I find it neither unusual nor a cover for being tonally off. And I say this after having tunnelled him for half of champs semis because I thought he was tonally off but he was town lol.

I have seen Maf do it far more often than town, and I've done it myself as Maf

The thing is that it requires enough planning ahead that you know you're gonna fake being drunk instead of waiting until you screw up and suddenly have to act drunk to cover (which is pretty noticeable based on the timing)
Also, heck, it was a weekend. Idk what's so unbelievable about drunkposting in the first place.
