Re: Girl Genius (Day 1)

To be more precise, I'm looking for something in a somewhat similar vein of this exchange:

Rej: Can someone sum up things for me?
Andre 3000: Man, ain't but four pages. Get yo lazy ass on and read them things yo self.
Rej: Andre 3000 is not a civilian. Lynch him.

People lynch Andre 3000

Dead Andre 3000: Damn, damn, damn , damn (trumpet plays).

Civilians rejoice: "Hooray! Scholarships and candy for Rej! And a plate of yams with extra syrup!"

Re: Girl Genius (Day 1)

Okay, so this is a "bait post" now:

Rej wrote: Thu Jul 25, 2019 3:19 pm Can someone summarize noteable events from D0 in one hunch?
It's only 4 pages to read...
I expect more help from a "fellow civillian". :bighug:
It's literally all the help I can offer, as I haven't read them.

I skimmed through and I had hard times getting reads, so my question, was my civillian way of getting either a short summary or get other reactions out.
A bad guy here would take the most convienient answer to my question just to show activity.
Here, Rej acknowledges that his question could have been "bait."

The key here is thus:

Provide a short summary = Civilian
Give a convenient answer to show activity = Mafia

Forgive me Rej, but does that actually work? You indicate that it does:
Rej wrote: Fri Jul 26, 2019 6:46 pm So again a civillian, especially one who hasn't cought up himself is telling me to read it myself. I still think it was timmer's convenient way in bringing his own DP forward to look like civillian. I tend to never townread people like him and it's often correct.
I almost never do this, because usually I don't care, but maybe this time it's worth it:

Rej, can you cite other scenarios in which this specific variety of "bait" caught bad guys?

Timmer had a wagon of 3 votes on him, while I was offline the "wagon" got change on me. It was again opportunistic same as when he gave his convenient answer to my summary question. Would a civillian do that? I just had my eyes open and I am convinced I cought a bad guy. While timmer is playing opportunistic and turned everything against me.
timmer didn't do a thing to move votes from him to you. I moved mine to Creature for instance.

I have not given much thought to the Timmer/Rej relationship. It exists. I'm not usually in the habit of looking for potential partnerships on Day 1. I've never played with Rej before and timmer is a player who I usually am able to get a good grasp on in the middle stages of games.
I was asking for your thoughts but I mean more thoughts is always good (though Epi’s was just :meany:)
I was making fun of Sloonei because he said something similar earlier (not making fun of you).
I got it we’re good

At the other one- I will try to kill Sloonei early when I am scum because I am now permanently scared of him.

To further the point to Dom, if scum wants to kill Sloonei on average early, the town does not want to kill Sloonei on average early

Dom wrote: Thu Jul 25, 2019 11:42 pmwhat is ~EV?
Negative expected value.

It's an investing term. In a nutshell as it relates to Mafia, what I mean is that lynching Sloonei Day 1 will be a big net loss long term because he's an active, thoughtful participant, but he is also one that I find is more easily sorted as things play out. Let him live early (unless something obvious happens), but feel free to put him through the wringer at any point. I hope that makes sense.

And what makes a scholarship more valuable than candy?

So many questions.

Most importantly is this one: Why does it bother you that people are calling other people civilians so fast? :ponder:
A deserved town read is one where the recipient has shown qualities of a townie. There's solid reasons supporting why they're town.

Anybody can hand them out.

This is a stupid question. Scholarships gives you opportunities, candies give you fat.

It bothers me because, they supported by nothing. Comes off as TMI. If you're joking then that's cool, if you're not then why the town read.
So to you, there's no utility in watching a mafia member squirm as he or she attempts to change a previous civilian opinion into a mafia opinion? There's no benefit to going back after a mafia member gets lynched and seeing whom that person called a civilian?

No. Throw out town reads like candy. See how everyone responds to there being candy in the area. Then throw out more candy.
No. Throw out scum reads like rocks. See how everyone responds to there being rocks flying in the area. Then throw out more rocks and aim better.
Why make giving town reads painful?
Rocks refers to scum reads.
Oh. That's not enough then.

Throw scum reads like a spear. See how everyone responds to a spear being thrown at them. If they try to dodge or deflect them, the person is scum. If they take it like a man, they're town. Then throw out more spears, this time with better aim so the remaining scum don't dodge or deflect them again.
