I agree with your conclusion, but would make a clarifying observation: Popular fiction has become what it has because even the people who are "into" reading have less patience than people before had. As our vehicles for storytelling become more reliant on other senses (like radio, television, video games), people will be less tolerant of more challenging and detailed passages. These technical developments have eroded people's ability to pay attention and become invested in something that delays gratification.thellama73 wrote:The piece I wrote for it is really good.
