Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 8)

to me the votes on Synonym seem easy even after their explanation and saying that they would out their entire team if bad - why would Synonym even say this if bad? Especially after subbing in?

Hi everyone sorry to have been away but as you may or may not know I have a game I am trying to get ready.

I am quite surprised neither of you have commented on the drastic change in JJJ's game.
1.) What is the drastic change? Give me details. I'm starting to think you're making this up. If you're not then I'd like to state that you're making zero effort whatsoever to read my content through a non-baddie lens -- exactly the accusation you've [wrongly] applied to me w/r/t Boomslang and Bass.

2.) That you specifically elected to express "surprise" to these two people makes very little sense. After only you, Turnip has probably been my biggest detractor in this game so far. You literally couldn't pick a worse player to accuse of not commenting on me. Scotty and I have also engaged in quite a lot of dialogue and I don't think he has been inclined to read me positively or negatively. What was the purpose of this post Roxy?
Hi.
I was surprised bc they both have said negative things inre: You. I think the drastic changed happened just before 2 game days ago. You tone changed and the vibe you began putting off was nothing like the semi - neutral vibe you were giving previously.
I do not think I could have picked two better people to call out bc of their thoughts they had previously given - why not push harder on you? Just bc you were silenced should not have silenced their opinions imo.
Again, WHO are you talking about? And why call out 2 people (whoever that lucky 2nd contestant is), 1 of which was definitely a detractor of JJJ like he says, out of the blue for not "pushing harder"? Why not call DrWilgy out on doing the exact same thing to Sorsha? It sounds like you just really wanted JJJ killed, and tried to get some rallying support by reproaching some people that had called him out previously.

You can blame meds on your combative behavior all you want, but your accusations have lacked as much air as Tom Brady's footballs.
I once took Ecstasy in a London club, and while I danced with some people I really would have preferred not to dance with, I still knew what I was doing.

Can you lose some of these quotes bc I am not what quote you are responding to since you have quoted and highlighted more than one.

No need to compare to someone who is on ecstasy imo - what is the point of that?

It stunk. I hated the lynch all day phase long and wished I could do something about it. Numerous people seemed to reduce the case for DrWilgy merely to WIFOM: "would a baddie defend his team mate so hard???"

I think this is inadequate because it doesn't respect what I perceive to be the most important variable: the likelihood that DrWilgy's defenses of TinyBubbles were going to motivate a lynch of someone else instead of TinyBubbles -- likelihood that I'd call infinitesimal. He didn't merely defend her hard, he did so when it was pointless. Is that how baddies behave? Maybe in some universes, but not terribly many of them in my experience. His hard-headed defense of Bubbles when she was already the clear lynch suggests to me that he really did believe in his defense of her and was stubbornly pressing it into the thread -- indicative of someone not on her team.

I could be wrong about that. I don't know. The fact that the lynch didn't actually take place is also a relevant factor that I will mull over that moving forward. For now though my stance remains that DrWilgy is not on team Ubzuccini.

While I did not vote Dr W I did find him suspicious but not bc of the reasons you list - but bc of the way his posting style changed since the first day or two. I think it is bc he got recruited and more comfortable bc of the btsc. Ergo he posted more and also had content (something his earlier posts lacked)

people who I feel may have been recriuted or a recruiter:

JJJ - already said.

Teeth - his play is off especially since day 2. Always saying he is busy and wil contribute more later but later never seems to come.

Bullz - says he is not invested but demands much more of other players - fishy is fishy.

Devin - for reasons I have stated previously which he has TWICE ignored but yet responded to MP.

Dr W - only bc I think he would make a great recruit and his posts have adifferent feel than they did in the beginning of the game.

Sorsha - like Teeth she keeps saying she will come up with her own suspicions but so far she seemsto have only focused on other peoples cases - though she does add her own thoughts and opinions (which I respect)

Are russti and df even playing? MK IMO.

I'm pretty sure LC said he wouldn't reveal stuff like that in the flavor text. I don't think we can assume anything from that.

I'm trying to reason through DH's confidence about SVS. It's possible that he had a check and actually has some information about her alignment. It's also possible he's been Hungered and is being forced to go hard against her. He's been so adamant and stubborn about it that I could see this being the case. Or he could genuinely just really strongly suspect her.

I'm still suspicious of Rey and want to hear more from him today.

Other than that I'm kinda lost for this lynch. I'd like to find Bubbles' teammates but I haven't the first clue how.

And you are right LA:

SVS, that doesn't make sense, I've been voting for you for awhile now. I didn't list 1 and 3 as cause and effect, I listed it as possibilities. Your pursuit of Golden is what throws me for aloop the most. I agree with what Rico said.
timmer wrote:
S~V~S wrote:Day one there was a 12 or 13 player tie I think.
Oh that?

Wilgy, so your case is three points, one of which is that SVS likes being bad (WTF?) and one of which is that she is one of a ton of people who didn't die from a hugely tied lynch? And this is because you assume one of them was Ubby? What about Terras protecting all Guardians that day?

If that's your case, I'm moving' on, sorry dude.
Uggg... Timmer, I have stated previous the conditions for my vote and didn't want to go through it again. Her pursuit of Golden didn't feel genuine when I read it. I didn't have time to quote everything at the time, due to working on house renovations. Your WTF would be understandable if I hadn't already spoken about SVS being SK in a open role choice environment. I don't assume one of them is Ububudoo, but the possibility is there and we shouldn't forget that. Statistic wise, if we go after a Golden hounder, she's our best choice.

I'm currently packing for the move tomorrow, so I don't have alot of time left for mafia today, nor will I tomorrow. I'll chime in when I get the chance.
I did not respond to it since I had already responded to the shorthand version, plus I saw a statement here, not a question. You have not been voting for me for "a while now" you voted for me two lynches ago, and had your vote on Timmer most of the past day until DH asked you to switch it.

This game is NOT an open choice environment. And I don't think my preference for being a baddie is a secret from anyone here. If "liking being bad" is criteria for being bad in any given game, I would be screwed EVERY game. It is so well known that I like being bad that I actually think I would be a liability for a baddie recruiter, like I was in RM# when I was recruited by Reywas. I was taking suspicion from both Epi & DH from fairly early in the game. So take what you will about my current recruitment status from that.

And re Golden, that is how I tend to Mafia. I see something I suspect and I go pretty hard after them.

As for your other thoughts, I am sorry that Unfurl died. Other than Roxy I am probably the last person here to kill Unfurl. She is a gentle presence, and I think we need more of her, not less of her.

And had I been bad, and known Bubbles was gonna flip bad, i would have voted her, and I would have voted hella earlier than I did, as would, I think, pretty much anyone else playing, so this is not really WIFOM territory.

Linki @ Roxy, yeah I noticed that too. But why would she make herself come up as bad?

Bc I was thinking the windscout chooses when to use their power - I did not think they had to use it on themselves - I was thinking they made Bubbles appear bad not that she chose to appear bad.
But I am prob looking at this wrong bc I am still heavily medicated.

However, it should be noted that her case against Golden seemed to be reduced entirely to a single post (in which Golden claimed to have baited the Epi kill).

Golden fought and fought to explain his maneuver and his perspective, but S~V~S never got over that post. Would you folks say that tunnel vision of such a focused sort is normal of S~V~S? Because that is a special sort of tunneling -- instead of hating everything Golden posted, she hated one thing he posted. Enough to drive him over 300 posts defending himself to no avail.
Yes typical of SVS.
You against Boomslang I feel just the opposite. I would think a good JJJ would look at both sides (you even admonished Scotty about his case being one sided) but you were one sided with Boomslang in a nitpicky way.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 5)

Rico/Lorab - n/rc or n/n or rc/n etc. I am not sure. What I do think we have hereis a style clash of sorts. I have reallly had no particularly bad vibes from either so I think I will just be watching them both for now. Beside when you watch loran she does this
cute twirly thing.

DH/SVS - I am not feeling DH:s case atm It feels like he just popped up with it so he would have something new to add to the thread to discuss poss bc he was not agreeing with the Bubbles lynch but then he goes on and asks to be voted for. I do not understand this ploy at all.

Bubbles - already stated how I feel about her and her lynch.

DP - was very disappointed that he cba,ed to respond to me. I understand why he is getting the votes he has so far.

Llama vote for DH - I cannot remember much from you inre:DH. is it bc of his asking to be lynched?or his overall play this game?

I wanted to be inspired, but he seemed to focus primarily on people who either aren't posting much right now or never were posting much. It's still very easy content to throw into the thread when the feeling of need for content is there.
And tell me, why is bringing attention to people who are slipping past attention a bad thing? You want to play logic? The "very easy content" descriptor is classic "No true Scottsman." I contribute, making points that need to be made, and you're saying effectively that it's "not true content." You're tunneling something fierce, and it grinds my gears.

Anyway, voting position 4. I'd prefer to run the cycle and deal with the negative powers we know than deal with unknown consequences.

I am ignoring his case bc now it is sounding more like what he was saying about Bass. He asked for content then disapproves of the content given. yah not following JJJ on another Neutral lynch.

Play this game right? What does that mean?

I've tried playing the game your way. I can't do it. Even if I could do it succesfully, I'd get lynched for not being myself. Recall the "it's just MP being crazy, so that's normal" excuse Devin gave for defending you? It's kinda like that.

Why don't you convince mafia to nightkill me or something instead?
It means actually play the game of mafia. It's Day 4 and you say you have no suspects. Get out of here.

Your over the top reaction to a couple of votes is quite illuminating. Why so emo over a couple of votes?
You are being mean to MM when you tell him to "actually play the game" and "Get out of here".

This is what I meant last time - it is toxic and no fun to read and unfortunately I play for fun MP not this.
I finished reading this part oif the thread and now Know neither had voted you - still this major reaction. I don't understand it at all. :stare:
I did vote for MP though. But seeing the lynch switched to a player with no votes implies that it doesn't even matter. I've seen lynch switches before, but I thought the player being switched to had to have at least one vote.

BRaLC, can a lynch be switched to a player with no votes?

Depends on the Hosts I think bc sometimes I say they have to have a vote and sometimes I don't with games I have hosted.
Interested in their response.

Wow. Srsly? I only played 2 of those games plus this one. I had no idea she had that many games under her belt. I better have a second look at the case against her now knowing this info.

You've literally gone from accusing people of cliquey exclusionary behaviour to making a very cliquey post yourself. Dom's sarcasm had a decent point, if you want to argue that there are certain players more likely to have been given recruiter roles, you're definitely in that category.
Like I tried to explain up there - that is not what I am saying at all.
I do not think the Hosts cherry picked roles. But I also do not think that they would be so unfair as to say put Bubbles as recruiter being so new to mafia and never having played a game like this before. Not that they wouldn't put say DP or someone else like that who has played a recruitment game. Understand?

still sounds elitist. fuck it. I stand by my thoughts on fairness to newbs. maybe I think way overboard where they are concerned I think it is the mom in me.
Hmm... Okay. I get what you meant now but... I mean I haven't played a recruitment game either so does that rule me out or do my four(?) years of playing other games make up for it? I do see what you're saying more clearly but I don't think I agree. If it were Bubbles' first game ever, then perhaps I could see BR thinking a recruiter role might make things too confusing but even then this isn't rocket science. Sure you get the odd Mr F announcing how many PMs he's had on day 1 but most new people pick the game up pretty quickly IMO. By my 4th game I was being NKed for naming an entire baddie team in my suspicion list and I'm not special.
No I would not put you in the same category as Bubbles.

I did not like his non reaction to the Golden lynch and his disappearance after. I really felt he shifted to Golden with a progression - yes - but it did not *feel* right to me. I know you will think that is not clear but something about the way posted - tone- mixed with vibe. Its all I got.
I agree; I'd like to hear from him as well.

I actually can relate to what you're saying here with tone, but I don't feel strongly about reywaS at this time. I've had moments where I thought he has appeared genuine and moments where I thought he has appeared opportunistic.

Exactly I agree with everything you say here.

Re: Recruitment Mafia IV: Dawn of the Clans (Day 4)

MovingPictures07 wrote:Look guys, I'm sorry, but I think it's completely unfair to throw out a baseless accusation at this stage of the game. Why even bother playing the game? If some players are just going to sit back and not even play it, then it ruins the game for the players who actually do play. Mafia is a game where you either are a civilian and try to baddie hunt, or you're mafia and try to act like a civilian. If I invest hours upon hours of my free time, of which I barely have any (it practically almost all goes to this game), and then some of the players don't even play the game by not posting or by posting a bunch of fluff and not issuing any opinions, then I won't play. It's clear I need a break from mafia, because I'm stressed out enough RL with the PhD as it is, and I've become testier in games over the past year as a result. I apologize for that. But you can understand why I'd get upset investing time into ISOing Devin's posts only to have it immediately denounced by two players as if I have underhanded intentions, with accusations that are impossible for me to defend against at that.

At least you've given me a reason now, MM, and I will next post a response to that post and the other two Roxy posts I wanted to respond to.

I will never play up to your standards and I am afraid a lot of the members of this forum would not be able to live up to these expectations.

I, like others, do not have hours and hours of free time - I work 7 days a week. I do not play games to appease your standards I play games to have fun. I like a bit of fluff. I also adore spamming. I like that everyone is different and has a different approach to the game. It makes it interesting. It would be very boring and more like work if we all to live up to your expectations. The fact is we are not the same people. We are different and thank goodness we are different!
