So I reviewed Floyd in Dune and he sounded similarly to his posts in TH so I guess his non-posting isn't alignment indicative. Now what about Wilgy? What game was he good in? I'd like to see the contract. He was bad in GOC so I'm going to look at his first day there to compare. Also, I might just go back where I started with my suss today and that is Sxotty. Enrique made me feel stupid for leaning toward a vote for him (no offense meant Enrique) but I see other people with the guts to do it. So I'll take a look at those two. Be helpful to have that civ game for Wilgy.

Oh sorry TH, I don't remember seeing that post. I remember AWR but didn't play Dune. I'll take a look at Dune.

I am tempted but only because he hasn't posted once or logged on in ages and if that goes on there's no point him being around. If he posted even once I'd be unwilling to vote him straight away though. I'm also considering Floyd and Bubbles because honestly they've contributed as much to the game as Lovedelic has and both consistently get away with low participation for long periods of time in my experience. For Floyd in particular I actually associate tend quietness and badness based on my experience with him in TH.
I was just about to ask about Floyd and whether anyone had any reads from past experience of him being quiet. What game is TH? All my silly brain will think of is Turnip Head. Anyway, I'd like to take a look at Floyds posts in that game.

Thats the reason I wouldn't vote him day 1 Scotty. I usually give the BOTD to someone who's first game it is on our site unless they have been playing a lot of games elsewhere.

Does anyone have info on ekeknat's playstyle? He's hardly said anything (4 posts) and what he has said has been jokey. He also hasn't posted in 2 days. If I had to go low poster I would think about voting for him unless someone can tell me he's like this often when he's civ. I'm not decided I will go low poster as it is not my preferred choice and always seems to work out bad for me but I'm looking at them just in case.

I'm not sure either. I was leaning towards Scotty but Enrique has made me stop and question that. I don't see a vote for Enrique, Golden, Zebra or SVS. I can't read SVS at all so I really have to have good confirming evidence to vote for her. I understand TH's use of we and don't suspect him for it. So I'm going back over some people and see if I can find anything that speaks to me. Not much time.

Lol. I'm actually thinking quite the opposite. In fact, I was wondering if town would be able to coordinate our voting in night polls, so we have 3 or 4 people who vote different options each night. We could randomize who votes where, so there's no funny business with three on the same team voting somewhere and giving us bogus info.
Matt, not saying this is a bad idea but what of Epig's warning?

This is similar to my thinking. I'm concerned that Epig warned us about talking about the map and the info I got from the Arkham Asylum choice made absolutely no sense to me. If I understood it, I might share it but I don't understand it so I'm going by Epig's guidance, if that makes sense.

I dislike how strongly Scotty is campaigning for lynching a no-show. I mean I get the sentiment, it sucks to play with someone who isn't playing, but it doesn't help us solve the game at all and it's basically admitting that the last 1000 posts were worthless. I feel pretty good about most of the high profile players and would lynch a no-show if it went towards saving someone I feel good about, but I'd rather lynch someone who is acting suspicious than lynch someone who's not playing at all
Im not discrediting all that has been posted thus far. But my modus operandi is matching people's suspicions, voting records, and lynch results. I am bad at finding a guilty party day 1, but will reference things from early on after we get more info.
Ultimately, I'll have to make a vote based on suspicion, but this is just how I do my day 1's.
Dom wrote:...but you think someone is suspicious.
And you'd rather vote for someone with no posts, and therefore no evidence?
That's not a difference in philosophy, that's a contradiction.
Yes, because that is a safer bet in short term AND long term to help civs.
If I don't have concrete info, and I can't no-lynch, what's the next step? No-poster. I still fail to see the contradictions but apparently many of you do. So be it.
TH beat me to my question.
What constitutes "concrete info"? Votes?[/quote]
I'm still confused on why someone you have no info at all on beats out someone you do have something on but it's not "concrete". I second Dom's question (no, I'm not buddying him) about what constitutes concrete info but whatever it is I know you don't have it on lovedel. And I'm also concerned that he's new like Equivocate. Maybe I'm somehow just missing the point.

Im finding Juliets and Bea really hard to read. They are both very floaty and not posting that much(maybe because of private reasons) but I will be keeping an eye on them for a while. Especially Juliets. I know I have also been somewhat floaty and not contributing that much, but I just didn´t feel like entering the arguments that some of you guys have had(Matt/Zebra, Golden/Enrique and so forth). Big walls of text about things that are kind of trivial are not appealing at all, sorry. Good discussions to have Im sure, but not something I would like to get involved in.
Hi Nerolunar, I'm not at all surprised you are finding me hard to read. I get that comment a lot so I've come to expect it with new people I play with. What's funny here is in the same paragraph you hit on why I haven't been posting all that much. I generally don't get involved in major brouhaha's between people and really can't conclude much until the disagreement is worked through for awhile. For example, I feel like the Enrique/Golden disagreement boiled down to a misunderstanding because they were both saying the same thing by the end, both mafia and independents are important to pursue. Anyway, it feels like we have had nothing but giant brouhahas other than a few comments about Matt, Scotty, and Turnip Head (maybe there were a few more). My posting will pick up as the game goes on but I can't promise you won't still feel I'm floaty (what exactly does that mean anyway, usually people say blendy?). If you have any questions for me let me know and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

Do you suspect Bass for thinking this?
No I don't suspect him for saying that. I'm just questioning a broad sweeping statement that seems like it would be hard to back up. I've played a lot of mafia and I couldn't say that I've experienced that most people are bad who compare themselves to their baddiness in another game. Since he's saying zebra is bad because of it I would expect there to be something else behind the assertion. But thats not enough to suspect him.

First of all, that should have been civvie. Lol damn phone autocorrect
Secondly, I go over this every game:
No-posting/low posters in early game tends to continue as the game goes on. Some people prefer not to clutter the thread early on if they have nothing to say. This isn't about quarreling with those people. IMO it is a liability for civs if someone is not participating. As can be seen time and time again on this site, and why a strong majority of games are won by Mafia, no/low posters are a great asset for baddies to keep around.
If they are civ, they weren't helping our cause anyway. That's obviously not ideal, and i would want baddies dead instead, but on day 1 specifically, there is not voting patterns to analyze, and everyone has adapted their own persona in the thread that don't scream Mafia to me. I don't know how people can GTH identify Mafia on day 1 from the bantering. It's a skill I'm still trying to get good at.
But I will most likely vote for someone not showing up to play. You want to be here, then be here. Don't not be here.
I used to default to low/no posters on day 1 but they kept coming up civ. The other thing that keeps me from doing it is they may low post but vote a civ vote which would mean they were helping the cause. Thanks for sharing your reasons, this comes up as an issue often on this sight so I wanted your insight.

TH, you asked for my thoughts (sorry, I went to bed about that time) and they are:
I'm glad the Enrique/Golden discussion has been pretty much put to bed. That was a lot of posts to finally get to basically the same conclusion that both are important and the time to have that discussion is if we are facing lynching who we think is a baddie vs. someone we think is an indy.
I understood zebra after she explained the first time that she was suspicious of the location but not necessarily the people who voted for it so I was not pulled in to that giant scramble we had about what she was really saying. I will say I didn't get it when she first said it, it took some explanation.
I don't have suspicions about those three people, but then again I don't have suspicions about the others who have spoken either. Dom is doing the questions asking I would expect, MP I'm not sure of, Mac is doing the accusing I would expect, and SVS and bea haven't done anything that raises my suspicion. In other words, it's too early for me to have any real suspicions. It did lift my brow a little bit when bea included me with her when asking a question but she did that with Mac in GOC and she was good so I'm not going to put much into that.
Finally, after all the arguments I read about a choice in this poll the person who said "it's just a day 1 poll" made the most sense. So, I am going with my gut choice of Arkham Asylum. Just as a reminder I saw this as the most logical choice because the game instructions were to find the whereabouts of the excapees and I think it's wise to start from the breakout and fan out from there. Plus there could easily be some clues at Arkham itself, people who may know which way some of the escapees are headed.
I did look at your link Mac, thank you. And I am not buddying up to you.

Bass's idea sounds sensible enough, but I'd also point out that everyone from the Asylum appears to be independent. So, it might not help us find the crime families (who seem more analagous to mafia).
But a lot of those independents don't seem exactly friendly.
Independents whom most civvies need dead to win
They do? It doesn't look to me like ANY civilians need the independents dead, to me. Whereas the town definitely needs the crime families dead.
This is literally the first think I noticed when I got my role card, so
right back at you.
This post, juliets. It can be interpreted as "we don't need ALL independents [correction: baddies] dead," but look at that last bit.
This is literally the first thing I noticed when I got my role card. That's not how it works. All but three civvie roles NEED to kill indies to even win the game. No matter if they can win with the other nine, the fact is that civvies can't win without indie hunting, and he even proposes just hunting the baddies and leaving the rest to luck. What kind of role card even suggests that? Well, there are three civvie options. And fifteen baddie ones.
Ok I see what you mean now. Thanks for the explanation.

I think trying to focus the thread very squarely on independent hunting is exactly what the baddies would want to do.
Totally called this misrepresentation. I love how bad you are already.
I'm reading your role card post added to your reluctance to go after independents
as a huuge early slip. Even if you were one of the three other GCPD roles, surely you'd understand that the rest of the team can't win as easily.

I guess I'm just simple minded. Our objective as put forth by the game was this:
A riot at Arkham Asylum has resulted in the escape of multiple inmates and a string of brutal murders. The city has hired a group of independent investigators to determine the whereabouts of some of these escapees, as well as their killing streaks and how much cash they are hoarding. If you are willing to help, they are listening.
So as I see it we are the group of independent investigators and we are charged with determining the whereabouts and etc. of the escapees. Shouldn't we base where to go on this mission we are charged with? Am I thinking about this wrong? I'm still thinking to vote the Asylum because we can question other inmates as to possible destinations and other things I see the investigators do in real life (and on Law and Order, lol). I'll wait to see if any of you think this is the wrong way to think about it given our mission before I vote.

Didn't even realize this is a map game... so that's pretty sweet. Should have assumed it would be with LC at the helm though. Where do we want to go?
I think we should start where the breakout happen to see if we can gather any clues from there. What are your thoughts?
