Yep. Chances are you will be recruited at some point. I don't think the game will end with anyone being vanilla.

Re: Blackest Night: A Recruitment Mafia

Also, everybody will basically be playing themselves. Or at least thats what I have so far. Could change it in the future, but I think having everyone's role be themselves is interesting.

Its not going to be a direct telling of that story no, but it may or may not incorporate aspects of the Blackest Night storyline. I just picked that as a name cause it seemed to fit :P

Yeah, I didn't want it to turn into a popularity thing either. And I also didn't want certain things to take the fun out of the game. For example if MP somehow got to be the first Yellow Lantern and he got lynched, there would be a discussion of whether or not he recruited SD and that would put undue suspicion on her. Same thing with say Mongoose/Llama/Vompatti/AP and Epi/Eloh.

This way, even if you get one of the "Baddies" there is no real way to predict who else got recruited.

Re: Blackest Night: A Recruitment Mafia

DISCLAIMER: I am not an avid comics fan, and this is a really rough draft, and may not explain everything 100%.

Each of the Lantern Corps utilizes a different aspect of the emotional spectrum, which manifests in a different color of light. Using their RIngs, lanterns are able to control these powers in many different ways. Each color on the spectrum correlates to a different emotion, which the Lanterns harness in order to control and expand their powers. For example:

Green Lanterns: Green Lanterns utilize the green light of Willpower.

Red Lanterns: Red Lanterns utilize the red light of Rage

Yellow Lanterns: Yellow Lanterns utilize the yellow light of Fear

Blue Lanterns: Blue Lanterns utilize the blue light of Hope

Star Saphires: Star Saphires utilize the violet light of Love

Indigo Tribe: Indigo Tribe members utilize the indigo light Compassion

Orange Lanterns: Orange Lanterns utilize the orange light of Avarice

At the start of the game, each player will be technically a vanilla civvie. After Day 0, the various Corps will begin recruitment. Players are recruited to different corps based on in-thread actions and criteria, as well as other elements of the game that will remain secret. Not every Corps will be active at the same time, and not every Corps will be able to recruit initially.

When a player receives a power ring, they will also receive abilities that reflect their new Corps. Every ring will interact with its host differently, and therefore members of the same Lantern Corps will not necessarily possess the same abilities.

Blackest Night: A Recruitment Mafia

Just posting this here so I have no excuse not to start working on it. Basic idea is a recruitment mafia based on the Lantern Corps of the DC comics.
