I agree. I think it's a fair criticism, but I ultimately do not agree. Impossible to give a fuller answer without spoilers. I have never listened to podcasts but was considering this one. Without spoilers, was my brother right?
I personally found S-Town to be pretty good. I don't usually listen to podcasts in that vein either. But it was good.
The whole show is fascinating, funny, poignant, and in some ways hopeful. Also, it's getting a glimpse into a part of the US that, at least for me, seems in many ways to be a foreign country.
