Re: [NIGHT 4] Avant-Garde Mafia 2

OMG Dom!!!! Welcome!

Bye Roxy--I'm sorry for your loss.

RIP Vomps. That is a truly sucky result. And I don't want to kick a civvie when they're already down, but I just don't understand the not defending himself! :(

I'm feeling a bit better today and am back at work, so hopefully I'll have some time to do some reading back on people since so far we've been way off.

What do people think about the possibility of other members of the Resident's team being among the rabbit voters on Day 2 now that we've lynched two of them and gotten two civvies in return?

Here's the Day 2 voting order again with the rabbit voters highlighted (I crossed off Vompatti and Mr. Droopy):
1. axxon (LoRab) 1
2. Epignosis (The Truth) 1
3. triceratops (SVS) 1
4. The Truth (SVS) 2
5. Vompatti (rabbit) 1
6. DH (rabbit) 2
7. jokreher (bea) 1
8. Aces (rabbit) 3
9. Kate (bea) 2
10. LT (bea) 3
11. SVS (bea) 4
12. LoRab (triceratops) 1
13. Illyria (chaindeath) 1
14. chaindeath (rabbit) 4
15. Mr. Droopy (rabbit) 5
16. insertnamehere (bea) 5
17. Flyin' High (bea) 6
18. DisgruntledPorcupine (bea) 7
19. Captain Bunny Killer (rabbit) 6
21. Boomslang (bea) 8
20. rabbit (bea) 9

I find it hard to believe that none of Bea's teammates attempted to save her, but I also don't want to keep lynching those rabbit voters on a chance. Thoughts on this issue?

I'm also going to take some time to read back through INH and DH since DH is clearly frustrated and feeling like his posts are being ignored.

Re: [DAY 4] Avant-Garde Mafia 2

Sorry for my complete lack of input today. I stayed home sick from work today and didn't really have the energy for mafia.

I didn't have the chance to read back on the people I'd planned to look at so I'm sticking with the Vomps suspicion--I hope this turns out better than the Droopy lynch.

Re: [DAY 4] Avant-Garde Mafia 2

I was busy watching football yesterday (Go Falcons! Sorry about the Texans, rab--I was rooting for them).

I can't wrap my mind around Vompatti's behavior. It screams "lynch me!" which makes me nervous. I remember Vompatti offered up a defense for Leech on Day 1--I want to read back and see what that defense was and if it had something to do with trying to get lynched.

I still can't shake the feeling that at least one of bea's teammates was among the rabbit voters because I highly doubt they would have just thrown up their hands and let her get lynched without a fight. So I'm going to re-evaluate that again today as wel.

I am now looking at FH and The Truth.
So as you say, you are looking at me because I was wishy-washy on Mr. Droopy.

And to that I say, that is how I play! As I showed yesterday, I often talk myself in large circles as a civvie. And as someone who has played many games with me before, I'm surprised you've either a) not called me out on it before or b) don't remember that is something I do all the time when I play.

If I was just jumping on the Mr. Droopy bandwagon and being wishy-washy, maybe I could see you being pinged by me--but I took the time to analyze votes, build a case from thread evidence, and listen to his responses before making a decision.

Have we heard from Captain Bunny Killer on her vote for rabbit, yet? I need to look back again.
I've read the case on Droopy, it makes sense to me. What catches my eye is this post from FH. I've seen this done by baddies before. The classic, "Oh I don't know, he could be a baddie, but I'm just not sure" thing. It is a way for the real baddies to cover their ass when a civie gets lynched. I'm not saying FH is a baddie, just that his made such an impression on me that I actually quoted it. I don't quote very often. If Droopy does turn out to be a civie, I will be looking at FH.

I've also seen The Truth post some things like "This is all confusing", which is another word baddies like to use so they don't have to pick a side. Just saying, those things make me pay attention.

Vomp's vote is a bit odd, especially after someone said that if baddies voted for rabbit to try and save Bea, then they wouldn't vote for him today. He could very well be Droopys teammate.
Kate wrote:Ok just looked. Seven (7) SEVEN posts in three days?

Also, I will most likely be voting for Droopy.
rabbit8 wrote:Nice to see you playing, Ace. Also good catch on FH, I agree that's something to look at.
For fun I pulled a few quotes of mine from previous games I've played where I've been a civvie and been wishy-washy (which for those who know me should know that's completely normal for me to do because I hate being responsible for helping to lynch innocents!)

I was Damon (civvie) in Vampire Diaries Mafia:

I'm tempted to vote for a quiet player because they aren't being helpful at all by not posting. But that may be taking the easy way out today.

I am wavering on Timmer at this point. I do not think OA is bad, so Timmer's insistence that she is still definitely concerns me. Maybe I'll give Wazz a chance today and go with Timmer.

(Just realized this post got stopped in linkitis)
And a prime example here: Me under the guise of Dan D. Lyons for Superheroes Mafia (I was Palisade, a civvie)
Dan D. Lyons » Sat Dec 11, 2010 3:55 pm wrote:I am really torn over who to vote for today. I feel certain that Jess has been silenced again. Otherwise she would be posting. So why would Tempest silence her again? My gut tells me that Barb would have wanted to silence her. And that if Barb was an independent killer, she would have already killed Jess at this point.

Which is why I am hesitant to vote for Barb today.

But I am the master of talking myself in circles.

I'm not sure the choice should be only between Barb or Jess--that makes me nervous.

I wish we knew what happened to Aileen--she hasn't posted since Day 5 when she voted for Phil.
Another great example (I was Spike, a civvie, in My Little Pony Mafia):
Flyin' High » Tue Jul 24, 2012 12:15 pm wrote:I am seriously talking myself into circles. :circles: It's driving me insane.

And if based on my latest zany idea, reywaS is actually ???, then Dex wouldn't have been blocked since ??? did kill last night.

And I am going to have a brain aneurysm. :overreact:
These were 3 easy examples I quickly pulled up me being a wishy-washy civvie. And I could pull more, but I just want to show that this is not something associated with me being a baddie at all.

Haha, I actually totally see where you're coming from about the way I'm feeling wishy-washy about Mr. Droopy, Aces. But I am never 100% certain (unless I have information).

I could probably go back through many games and pull quotes of myself being "unsure" about a player's alignment while being civvie myself.

I feel like there's enough points of evidence to support Mr. Droopy being a baddie. The tiny part in my brain that is uncertain is knowing this is his first game ever and that we may be seeing a true case of a newbie civvie freakout.

But meh, I've been discussing this all day. Gonna put my vote where my mouth is and *vote Mr. Droopy*

DharmaHelper wrote:Alright, Kate, seriously? Your big ping about Droopy is "he never said he WASN'T a baddie!!!" ??

I've not said "I am a civvie" all game, doesn't mean I'm not a civvie.

I'm still locked in on either Rabbit or INH, but for this lynch I'm leaning on voting INH...
Since I was the one who took the time to pull all of the quotes to corroborate Kate's comment about him not denying he's bad, I just want to say there is a difference between not denying you're bad when you are under suspicion versus when you aren't (in my opinion).

Players who are quick to claim "I'm a civvie" or "I'm not bad" when they aren't under suspicion inevitably make me look their way. But when you are under suspicion, in my experience people who are civvies include that as part of their defense. Whereas Mr. Droopy has spent most of his time trying to deflect onto anyone but himself (rabbit, low-posters, chaindeath or Captain Bunny Killer).

And if I vote for Mr. Droopy which is where I'm leaning it won't be because I've jumped on the Droopwagon (though I've gotta say that's an awesome term!) but because based on voting results and thread evidence, I think he's likely a teammate of Bea's.

I am very pinged by Vompatti's comments. I can't decide if he has evidence about rabbit, or is just being zany.

Kate wrote:Thanks for checking on that FH, I just didn't have it in me last night to go looking and I was on my iPad, makes everything much more difficult.

I love your last two points. Its certainly easy enough to say (PARAPHRASING), "well I see the case on Bea, sure, but I feel stronger about Rabbit." What he did was ignore the Bea situation entirely then come back to say (PARAPHRASING, AGAIN), "oh yea, I was suspicious of her all along too!" (Maybe even more so than Rabbit, but to vote her would have made me look bad?) What would make him look bad about voting a baddie OR at the very least mentioning his suspicion? I don't think he went to school the day his teammie taught "bus throwing." Not to mention, Bea was no where to be found during that lynch, so he may have felt uneasy about voting his teammie without her express okay.

His last post, where he says, sure I'll vote for the last 2/3 of Bea voters, who should we lynch Rab? Image So lets look at the people who DID vote a baddie instead of me (who was suspicious of said baddie but declined to vote her or even mention her)? I don't even know who he was referring to, but since only Rabbit and -in hindsight- Bea were his suspects, why in the world would he be willing to simply pick 2/3 of the players and then just pick a name out of a hat OR even more ironically, be willing to trust Rabbit who in his last 50 post was his TOP SUSPECT???
Exactly! There are enough oddities in Mr. Droopy's reasoning coupled with when he voted for rabbit that make me think we have found one of Bea's teammates in him.

@Vompatti: You still haven't explained why you're voting for rabbit. You said personal reasons yesterday which is beyond strange to me. I was running under the assumption that maybe you were forced to vote for him yesterday, but to vote for him again today and again without explanation definitely sets off my ping-o-meter.

When I read this post, I went back and reread Mr. Droopy's Day 3 posts again to see if this is the case. And it's true! He never did deny his baddieness in any of his posts since entering people's radars.

Ahhhhhhhh............................................. no you're wrong.

But we will be finding a FEW of beas teammates in my voters, for sure.

Vompatti (8), DharmaHelper (9), AceofSpaces (11), chaindeath (17), Mr. Droopy Cash (18), Captain Bunny Killer (22)
I hope people don't read too much into this...you yourself could be a baddie. :pirate: I'm not at all convinced that you're a civvie.
Here he seems concerned about people looking too closely at the voting order and then attempts to deflect back onto rabbit. While I try not to use voting order as my sole evidence for baddie-catching, I have found it very useful in catching baddies over the years.
Mr. Droopy Cash wrote:So I'm pretty sure I have a 0% chance at being in the Top 3 of the Event but I shall continue to post when necessary (and possible) as to avoid being Sock-Killed.

We need to get some of these non-posters out of the way...I'm getting bored with them.
Here Mr. Droopy tries to deflect onto the low-posters (I know this was discussed already, but I am trying to show a trend here).

His next post (viewtopic.php?p=2262#p2262) he tries to "defend" his rabbit vote and why he wants to focus on low-posters but again, doesn't ever deny that he's a baddie.

And this post here really made my nose twitch:
Mr. Droopy Cash wrote:If I would have come out and said I'm suspicious of bea but I'm voting for rabbit, wouldn't that just made me look worse? There is no win in this lose-lose situation for me.

rabbit-that's exactly why I did it...you're so smart my friend! :dead horse:
He calls this a no win in a lose-lose situation. Lose-lose because he knew if he voted for bea or called her out he would have been throwing a teammate under the bus? And admitting to that means he could be lynched and will appear as bea's baddie teammate? :eye:

Then he follows that up with this offer to rabbit.
Mr. Droopy Cash wrote:I'll tell you what Rabbit, you think 2/3 of the late bea votes are baddies-I would be willing to vote for either of the other two. Who seems more suspicious?
This is pinged me the most because sure you can make the offer to vote either of the other two! But it doesn't mean you're not bea's teammate. And it's the third major attempt at deflecting the attention onto someone else.

I could keep quoting his posts, but as Kate noticed, in none of them (until the last one which came after Kate's observation) does he ever actually refer to himself as a civvie or say he's not a baddie.

And I know many baddies who tend to shy away from making direct statements about their alignment lest they get caught in a lie.

Okay, in reading back through Mr. Droopy, Captain Bunny Killer, and chaindeath these are the comments I have.

Mr. Droopy: Finds rabbit suspicious, but thinks the case against bea has some merit. Decides to vote for rabbit because of his aggressiveness.

Captain Bunny Killer: Doesn't acknowledge the case against bea at all focusing instead on Vompatti and rabbit. Perhaps she didn't want to weigh in on the suspicion surrounding bea because she's her teammate?

chaindeath: Also doesn't acknowledge the case against bea. So same with the Captain, did chaindeath not want to weigh in because he is teammates with bea? I realize chaindeath himself answered my question about whether or not he always talks in the third person--seems he's just doing it this game for the fun.

Okay--so I'm not sure I gleaned anything incredibly useful from reading back through those 3 players in particular. :why:

RIPIYWG axxon and Illy!

I didn't really have much of a read yet on either of you.

So here's a breakdown of the voting order with the tally of votes accrued:
1. axxon (LoRab) 1
2. Epignosis (The Truth) 1
3. triceratops (SVS) 1
4. The Truth (SVS) 2
5. Vompatti (rabbit) 1
6. DH (rabbit) 2
7. jokreher (bea) 1
8. Aces (rabbit) 3
9. Kate (bea) 2
10. LT (bea) 3
11. SVS (bea) 4
12. LoRab (triceratops) 1
13. Illyria (chaindeath) 1
14. chaindeath (rabbit) 4
15. Mr. Droopy (rabbit) 5
16. insertnamehere (bea) 5
17. Flyin' High (bea) 6
18. DisgruntledPorcupine (bea) 7
19. Captain Bunny Killer (rabbit) 6
20. rabbit (bea) 8
21. Boomslang (rabbit) 7
Didn't vote: bea, Benthayer, birdwithteeth, boatsboatsboats, reywaS, and Roxy

Since bea was a baddie, there's a chance her teammates may have tried to save her by adding votes onto rabbit in yesterday's lynch. Based on timing, I plan to take a closer look at Captain Bunny Killer and Boomslang. Also chaindeath and Mr. Droopy.

One thing Illyria had asked and maybe she got an answer but I missed it, does chaindeath always post in the third person? Or is that a behavior he has adopted that is new to this game?

Re: [DAY 2] Avant-Garde Mafia 2

I read back through DF's and Devin's posts and nothing really stands out as something they might have said to warrant getting on the baddies radars this early. DF pretty much focused on Leech's self-vote and Devin discussed the polls and compared them to his experience in Avant 1.

So yeah, I'm still clueless on who to look at today.

Re: [DAY 2] Avant-Garde Mafia 2

Gah, I have no idea where to look at the moment. I personally am not seeing anything particularly baddie about S~V~S bringing up that she thinks DF was an odd Night 1 kill choice. I'd need to go back and look at his posts and Devin's to see if one of them posted anything that might have scared a baddie team into wanting to kill them.

I am also not used to the early voting. But it is adding a level of excitement to be playing mafia with people whose play-styles are completely unfamiliar to me. Definitely adds an intense level of challenge to the game.

So yeah, I guess I'm going to go back and read DF's and Devin's posts to see if I can make sense of anything.

RIPIYWG DF and Devin.

I need to read through the roles again because I know there is a lot going on in them and I don't think I absorbed it on during my first read through of them.

Re: [NIGHT 1] Avant-Garde Mafia 2

Wow--that catch up took me a looooooong time! But I finally got through all of the posts.

So RIP Leech. I definitely found your self-vote odd, but what I found most odd was your belief that MP might have some sneaky evil planned if people posted more than 3 posts. As others said, I've never seen a host that would want to quell posting. I know when I host, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside when I see lots of posting happening. But that's neither here nor there since you were civvie! :sigh:

But odder than Leech's self-vote shenanigans was Vompatti's quick jump-in with a defense for Leech's self-vote. Now that we know Leech was civvie, I'm not sure if I can really connect the two. But I'm with Kate in that it felt strange for someone else to defend Leech's decision rather than Leech himself (at the time).

Knowing INH, his attempt to get his posts done ASAP doesn't strike me as too odd coming from him.

There are so many people I've never played with before and I look forward to getting to know your mafia styles. :)

And as for choosing where to go tonight--I choose to stay in Nebulo 9 because 9 is a perfect number in my most humble opinion.

Whew! :phew: Now that my brain has turned to mush I'm going to go rest.

This smiley :bounce: makes me all kinds of happy.

Also, I set my posts per page to 100, but even after hitting submit I still have the default 40 ppp. Am I the only one who has tried to change from the default and not been successful?
