Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 5)

Long Con wrote:If Roxy wasn't Captain Cold then that makes Bass look pretty suspect.

I was really hoping to hear something more reasonable from Timmer, like who he thinks is trying to frame him. Black Rock's mind control seems to have been Timmer related, and Metalmarsh had to keep saying Timmer's name. Timmer's response was a roleclaim and a big No U and not a lot of interest in figuring it out.
I'm just pretty busy today, tbh. To be clear, I didn't roleclaim, saying I'm an old Rogue is just synonymous with saying I'm a civ. It's just that in this game, the civs are so outnumbered that it veers towards a role claim, but I'm ujst simply saying I'm a civ, essentially. And I don't have disinterest in this lynch, i just have no ideas at all. If Roxy was bad, then Bass is definitely bad, that's a given. But we can't know what Roxy was. if bass is just misguided towards me, then the New Rogues are... who? I've got no clue.

I NO U'd Black Rock because the tone of her vague accusation against me nicely mirrored what I felt Roxy had done the other day; announce that you've got thoughts on someone that could be important (Roxy's mystery BTSC partner, BR's proof that mind control points to me) but then don't reveal it (must check with host), meanwhile the clock ticks ever towards the lynch. By the time BR may indeed say something about me, the lynch will be all but decided, which is very convenient, you see?

Suggest evidence, but don't reveal it, and let the lynch run its course. It's a very easy way to get someone dead, because i can't defend against it. And yes, there has been a bizarre attachment to me personally with these mind controls. And i know very well that I've got an ego, and that i can play too cocky and sure of myself, but I'd ask anyone if they really think I'd spin mind control into things linked to myself so brazenly. Of course, it would make for a huge wonderful wifom, but this just isn't anywhere near my style.

LC, what do you make of Bass, now that llama has suggested that a lynch of me isn't the right way to go? And what do you think the odds are of BR fabricating evidence against me protected by the "have to check with host" line?

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 5)

I'm not going to be around today, I'm stranded at work on a busy day. I've got no other way to defend these charges; he's a new Rogue! No, he's Grodd! no, he's The Top!

I'm an Old Rogue, and none of those other roles. The fact is, if you look at the win conditions for the various groups, it's entirely likely that some of the people so urgently trying to get me lynched are New Rogues trying to win the game. By my count, there are two of us left, so they are very close, as the indies will win no matter what. But there aren't enough of my group left to make a difference today, and so it's really up to the indies and detectives etc to decide if they want to deal with a new Rogue dominant game or not. I can't defend any better than that, and whatever this mystery reason is that Black Rock has for me being bad seems to be taking a lot of time to emerge and it's likely either a frame job on me or she's making it up. Either way, I haven't been mind controlling anybody.

I can only hope for the best, Happy Mother's Day!

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Night 4)

And SVS has already insinuated that there was something regarding me and BF on Night 1. So unless you think she is lying about that, that's furthur proof that killing Splints was not what I was up to that night. Furthur proof that I am not Grodd. And my push against Bass 1.0 should show that I am not a New Rogue.

I can see which way this game is turning. Frankly, my team is decimated, if Bass is right about his thoughts about Roxy. Capt. Cold already had two NKs which means I've got just one friend left if that's who Roxy was. So I'll hold my vote to see if I can do anything with it, but this is the New Rogues' game at this point, it's obvious, and I haven't got enough leads to try to fight. You'll see I was civ in post-game. I'm not sure what else to say. :noble:
I understand why you are claiming that but I find it hard to believe. Unless someone can give me a better explanation on who is mind controlling I shall continue to believe you are Grodd. All the evidence I have from night stuff points to you being Grodd.
Also, this is a bit meta, but I think it's worth saying. This is my first game with splints in over a year. I was kind of excited about that. Who here honestly thinks that I would NK her on night 1? I'm not Grodd.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Night 4)

@LC, here's my defence.

While you had first brought up the idea that Bass 1.0's posts were pingy, I jumped all over that EARLY with my conspiracy theory about him being Double Down. It wasn't at a time when Bass was a sure lynch or anything, I brought that up early. So if I were a New Rogue, would I torpedo a teammate like that, that early? Some people, like Dom let's say, go after teammates all of the time. We know this. Anyone who has been my baddie buddy knows that I only turn on a teammate when I feel like the writing is on the wall. This was not that case, so let's face it, I'm not a new Rogue.

So that leaves one lone role that anyone should even care about me being, and that is Grodd. (unless someone is a New Rogue, of course). Correct me if I'm wrong, but Grodd hasn't killed since Night 1, so I'd guess he's not around, or inactive.

Apart from that, I've just got to say that I can't believe SVS is bringing up Epig's idea from Day 0 to try to make a case on me. Like, really? I don't think you're bad SVS, I've got ideas on your role, but I think you WANT me to be bad for whatever reason.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Night 4)

Looking back at Bass 2.0 to try to figure him out.

He subbed back in on Day 3. At the time, Roxy had map BTSC with Aces. Before Day 3 was over, Bass had already mentioned his idea that Roxy was the Capt. So, unless he is Heat Wave, the idea would not have come from BTSC, thus it makes sense to say that he genuinely came up with the idea from thread evidence.

Day Alt 3 then begins.

Bass agrees with me about voting for BF and does so after me.

He says at one point "I wish Roxy or Aces could answer my question." indicating even less of a chance that Bass shares BTSC with Roxy, thus even less chance that he is Heat Wave if Roxy if the Capt.

BF is lynched and then boom, Bass hits me with the "1.Timmer is lying about what happen with Roxy in his BTSC. Roxy was Captian Cold. If you don't believe me look at who Cold killed. It was Donner party mafia all over again. Roxy left a trail for everyone to follow but everyone is to busy eating out of Timmer's hand."

So here's what I think.

If Roxy was Capt. Cold, then she couldn't have known who BF was, because she never suggested to be that I should not vote for him. After the BF lynch, my initial reaction was to assume that Roxy had lied to me. However, some of the content of that chat fits with Bass' thoughts regarding her, so it could be I misread the situation. If she was the Capt. and BF had never found her, we have have just not known anything.

That said, what Bass is MISSING here is that even if Roxy WAS the Capt., it doesn't make me bad. I interpreted what went on in btsc as best that I could. I came to the conclusions that I thought were correct. If I made a mistake, which I won't know until post-game, then so be it, I've made plenty of those. But I'm not lying about any of this, I've spent this entire game trying my best to find cases and flesh them out, and people have called me pushy, and all kinds of things for it.

My main point is, if you think Roxy was the Capt., the fact that I didn't doesn't make me bad.

Now, the flip side to all of this is, could Bass and Roxy have been/be baddie teammates? The only way I could see it is if one of them was Blacksmith and had checked the other before Day 3 started, but that is horribly unlikely. Bass 2.0 was an absent player at the time, so either he was Blacksmith and hadn't been checking people since it was an absent role, or Blacksmith chose to check an absent role. Neither is likely at all. I don't see how the remaining arch-villains would have had btsc, so that doesn't fit, either.

My best guess: Bass clued into something about Roxy but is wrong about me. Or Bass was wrong about Roxy, but I'm not sure about any of that anymore. I misunderstood thing sin the heat of the moment, but am not bad.

This was a great result, yes.

As for Bass... I won't go into specifics because MR asked us not to, but if Roxy was who you say, which would make you a certain other someone, then you wouldn't be going after me and voting me in lynch polls. That's all I've got to say on that.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 4)

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Until five minutes before deadline, Aces was going down, right? And it's not like he was saved by a teammate, I think I'M the one who suggested we move our votes off of him. So Aces would have been expecting to be lynched, so maybe he was fine with self-voting instead of trying to save himself because he knew something was up. Daisy may have bounced it back to him not knowing about that "something"

I think you forgot to answer my question though Timmer. Is there a reason you're voting Bass over Aces today given that Aces is more explicitly connected to Roxy? Are you worried he'll survive again?
It's a question of gut. One the one hand I've got Bass' in-thread blatant vouch for Roxy that turned some of the tide (including my own vote) away from her. On the other I've got the fact that Roxy talked of having a mystery btsc partner she wasn't sure of without ever mentioning it was Aces until way deep into the lynch, hen he was literally five minutes from being killed, and then people including me decided to pity his self-vote and move the lynch.

they bot hook bad, and I will not stand in the way of an Aces lynch instead of a Bass lynch at all.

Incidentally, now that I've typed this... I wonder if Aces knew he could save a lynch, as well? Could it be that his entire "poor me" self-vote was because he knew he wouldn't die?

Hmm... I read the whole thing as Daisy being the indy with the lynch-switch/lynch survival. So if she knew she wasn't going to die, maybe she switched it to Aces, but he also survived somehow? I agree that there is no way Daisy is civ. But bad? not sure.

I know you asked Timmer, but I have two points to make about this. First, people seemed pretty sure that it was Spacedaisy that explicitly survived the lynch, and second, I've seen people survive lynches before, and it generally doesn't involve the whole day resetting.
I'm with LC on this one. A "survive a lynch" is just that. the lynch ends with "no one was lynched". the game moves on.

But this was a no-lynch followed by a lightning strike followed by people getting shunted around on the map (not sure if this happened to everyone, but I saw at least BF mention in thread that he'd now be unable to meet a btsc partner as they had clearly planned, and it happened to me as well) followed by the llama being brought back followed by "Alternate Day 3".

This was a Game Event, which puts it more into mystery role's lap imo than an indy who can survive a lynch.

My view on the whole vouching thing was the way Roxy approached it in the thread. It seemed like she was leading up to a vote but keeping important info out. Then all of a sudden she was convinced Aces was good. If I'm remembering correctly I do believe Aces was a lynch subject and the lynch could have swayed that way. I believe they hid behind the map BTSC to cover up their baddie BTSC. The way she led into it flipped peoples opinions of Aces. It would be a grand scheme that Roxy is capable of.

That's exactly what she did, and she got help from a teammate. i realize that much of that day I was screaming and rambling in the thread like an idiot, but I think I was right on point. I didn't like Roxy's whole mystery btsc partner, and I didn't like how the clock was down to about four hours to lynch deadline and she was still saying but not saying anything. She was hedging, hedging, hedging, and then just as people started looking at her in a really negative light, there was Bass 2.0 vouching for her in a blatant way.

When I couple that with Roxy's claims the next day in map btsc and her lack of any attempt to dissuade me from a BF vote, it all becomes clear.

Also, either the New Rogues or the Arch Villains, whichever Roxy was part of, know my role (I didn't out myself but I sort of laid a trail), and it makes the fact that I'm taking on votes very interesting and clever on their part, in light of my role. I won't say more than that, but I'm very impressed with their moxie. (I'm not saying that anyone who votes for me is a New Rogue or an Arch Villains, just that I think much of this push is likely coming from there).

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 4)

Oh, and the other thing is Bass 2.0.

Bass specifically, unequivocally, vouched for Roxy in the thread during the Aces/Roxy lynch. And once I got BTSC with Roxy, she fully supported that lynch and suggested very heavily that SHE was Capt. Cold. She mentioned how she thought Epig was bad and "look at who killed him" "you don't get it, do you?" And "think about why Bass would vouch for me".

The two of them set that up. And if you look back through my posts, you'll see that that Bass 2.0 vouch is right where I started wavering on Roxy.

So I've got Bass 2.0 and Aces as two people i will be voting for until they are dead.

When Day 3 had its weird reset, Roxy and I ended up in btsc together. She insinuated that she was an Old Rogue and that she had contact with Glider, and thus when I suggested certain things about MY role to her (we weren't outing ourselves, but speaking in certain generalities that I think we both understood, etc.) she said flat out "you know I'll know if you're lying pretty quick, then, right?" The point is, that entire day I kept telling her that I had no idea who to vote for, and she knew SPECIFICALLY that I was going back and forth between DH and BF, and she never said ANYTHING about not voting BF, or tried to push me away from such an idea.

Then we both traveled in sync last night but she never came into btsc before day started. I left a long thing in btsc asking "wtf roxy?" but she never came in.

All in all, I think Roxy was bad. I think I sat there and suggested certain things to her carefully, I think she just soaked it up. I feel like an idiot.

So yeah, I think that we had a baddie nailed to the wall the other day in Aces, and I think, like an idiot, I helped save his ass.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 4)

If you work out Capt. Cold's tildes I think you will see why he has been killing. I'm heading to bed but all I will say is that Roxy bamboozled me in map btsc and my inability to see her true nature cost us yesterday's Lynch and valuable time. I blame my misread on saving Aces and pushing his lynch to Daisy. In fact, he is very likely bad and my actions really hurt. More tomorrow.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 3?)

If anyone has a better case to be made against other lynch contenders, I'll poke my head back from home right before deadline.

I don't really want to end up lynching a detective, so if you guys think my hunch was right, please say so. I'm very conflicted today.

@SVS, it does, but nothing I can do about that.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 3?)

Well look I'll spell it out.

Even though back when the bullz/BF thing happened BF said he was not a detective, I still felt that he likely was, and when llama rezzed, BF even said "WB friend" which felt co-detective-ish. But frankly, llama's few posts today haven't clicked with that. All he said was "BF's defense of me was odd and unexpected, but I do not read him as bad. I don't think baddies stick their necks out like that."

Maybe that's calle dbeing subtle and in my mind if it were me, I'd be a bit more blunt, but it doesn't feel like I'm right about my hunch.

And yes, quick turnaround, but I'm about to leave work and had to make a decision.

I'll go with BF. If my hunch about his role were correct, I think I would have seen something today that frankly, I didn't see. So my thoughts on his role are likely wrong.

Well I'm not going to toss my vote or anything, so I'll likely go along with either the bf or DH lynch idea. Neither is great imo, BF's posts read a certain way, and DH's reply about Made is conflicting me, but neither of them feels like a civvie, so I don't think a lynch in their direction is necessarily bad.

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 3?)

I'm really conflicted about this lynch. Yesterday ended up making me doubt a lot of the things I thought I had down, and I don't have anything I'd call a major case to lay down atm.

Why isn't llama answering this? There's a chance I'm going to vote for BF. His suspicions seem too easy, and have you noticed that he focuses on one player per day? It's like he doesn't need to bother himself with commenting on all the rest because he already has a suspect. In my opinion, that's usually more a baddie tell than a civvie one
I just did a complete reread of BF.

About the only really ping-y thing i could see was his "wtf?" reaction to how the Bass 1.0 lynch went down. For the rest, I've got an alignment in mind for him, and he seems to be pursuing leads as he sees them. I'm not sure I could say he's bad, but I don't think he's an Old Rogue, either. I won't vote for him, but won't really be going out of my way to defend him, if that makes sense?

Thanks. Who are you thinking about voting today?
I'm mulling some things over. If Made were on the poll I might have voted for him.
Thanks for the reply, DH, but I think you are twisting things a bit. This^^ is from what I can tell, your first mention of Made today. Thus, it had NOT been established that he was on the poll yet. Right?

I'm pretty sure there is also "insanify", "lynch switch", "role check" (or block), "power steal", "silence".

Re: The Flash: Battle for the Gem Cities (Day 3?)

I'm quite busy at work today, I've been skimming as best I can, but I'm not really available to post a ton.

Here's the thing that bugs me about DH's Made suspicion today.

If you look back to DH's first post about Made today, it mentions that DH thought that Made was off the poll. Once others pointed out that he was actually there, DH ran with that knowledge, but I cannot get over that

a) there are clearly multiple players missing, not just Made. Even if you can't remember all of them, there are enough names on the poll who aren't posting that I find it hard to believe DH missed it and thought it was only Made.

b) it's a comment about a player DH thought was off of the poll. That means he was bringing up stuff that he thought would have no bearing on today's lynch. With all of the chaos yesterday, cases against Daisy, Roxy, Aces, older cases still against Bullz, some against SVS (his own, that one), BF, DH brings up a point about someone who he thought wasn't even relevant to today.

c) I won't go check, but I believe there is a protecting role, and likely a blocking role. Whether someone kills on odd nights or even nights, they'd have only had one chance so far to kill since instead of a night 3 we got day 3.1. So I don't even see how there is enough evidence yet about missed kills for Made to be a suspect anyway.

and lastly, d) I find it is more often baddies than goodies who bring up lynching low posters/absent players.

All of this means I am not liking DH's output today.

I don't. But the hunt has to start someplace.
I've done a light readback, will do a fuller one on my lunchbreak, but this pings me a bit. So much happened yesterday and yet you are promoting the idea of lynching an absent player, and a specific one, when there are at least four, and they cannot defend themselves.

Wb llama!

Amd this lynch result is probably for the best, on several levels.

I apologize for getting overheated and a bit belligerent, sometimes the game gets the better off me and I let my theories out into the open before I can adequately make the case proper. I respect you all, and don't want to diminish the enjoyment of the game for anyone.
