Re: Homestar Runner [Day 8]

In reading back thru jc's posts, I realized the few posts I thought didn't sound JCish were during the first couple days. But I went off on a tangent before I got that far.

Jc, do you remember when CBK expressed suspicion about you? I don't know if I just missed all that, or if I had forgotten it, but I just spent time rereading some of that time period, and also cbk's posts. I don't think I feel so good about her.... Very defensive of gleam, susp of llama and mp, and then little else.

I also noticed something else, which I am going to hold off discussing, until after this lynch.

I'm not sure about anyone at this point, I could go for a timmer vote, but more because I was pinged by his early game play than just recently. I think I have recent gaps I need to fill in, evidently I've missed a bit.

I kind of want to vote cbk, but I'll go with voting timmer this time.

JC, I should have phrased it more like this: for the most part, jc seems to be on her civvie game, sometimes it seems like you are imitating your civvie game. Certain posts were ringing a bit hollow to me, but- it could very well be attributed to this being such a massive game.

When I have enough time, I will go back through the thread and pull the quotes that struck me as odd, because on a reread, after this much time has passed, they might strike me differently. But I'll pull them just the same, so you'll know I wasn't trying to blow smoke out my arse-

I just laid my cards out for timmer. I really don't trust anyone unreservedly yet, which is weird at this point in the game.

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 8]

Timmer , I haven't had anything worthwhile to say. I actually have no trust for anyone in the game.

If it would be helpful, I'll give my opinions. But take them as that, just opinions. I still think that dp and df are popping up when mentioned, which strikes me as possibly their bad game. When they are civs, they tend to post at a usual time. When they post shortly after being mentioned, I kind of think they have teams.

I think snow dog has flipped flopped a bit. I'm not sure whether mrf was the civvie that he appeared to be. I still have the feeling that borok could have been Trog, and maybe stopped killing so that people wouldn't connect him to Trog. But again, that assumption depends on mistakes being made.

I wish I could trust JC, she seems to be doing a good imitation of her civvie game. It's kind of hard to tell with her, but a few times, her JCism's have seemed a bit hollow.

I'll try to get time later tonight to reread a bit, but it might have to wait until tomorrow.

Oh one last thought before I go, although I'm hesitant to express this. I can't go back to pull the quotes, because I don't have time at the moment. But it goes like this:

Mp said that svs was around. Someone else said she wasn't. My question is who is right? Has she been around or not? I feel like one of these two people maybe said something they shouldn't have. I think this needs to be explained, but I'll have to look back to find the second player, can't remember and don't have time. Ok that's all for now. :omg:

MovingPictures07 wrote:Also, Bullz, as to overreacting, I'll openly admit that. I'm insanely invested in this game and my life is a bit on the stressful side at times these past few weeks, so it's made for an interesting combo.

Not only that, but I've received two or more lynch votes so far every single day period. No one else has. Sad to say it isn't too different from most games I play anymore.

As to Dom's overreactions, they seem in character, though they do seem a bit more amplified than normal. I'm having trouble discerning what that means, if anything.

Mata, what are your current evaluations; who are you eyeballing? I'm curious.

Woah, LINKI! Hold on, let me read that.
First of all, apologies to the host and players, I have been so sucked into indiglos contests at HV that I can't concentrate in a huge game like this one.

My state of mind is at a point of 'ruling out' rather than trying to convince myself that anyone is bad. If I can't rule out thread evidence, then I might have to seriously consider a player as bad.

So- I mentioned last night the stuff about borok. He might have mistakenly sent in a hut on the first private night, but other than that being the host error, I wouldn't connect him to Trog.

SVS, I would think that if she missed more than two nights, the host would have replaced her. Since this has not happened, I wonder if she just has a role with no night action. I would have to see who it was that she replaced and when, which I think is a good thing for me to pursue tonight. She could well be on a baddie team, they can carry out her actions for her, but I would still think after several days of no posting, she would get replaced. Not sure what to think.

I do think that Trog may have died, but if not, I will say this- shortly after someone first brought up a Trog/svs connection, DP was right on it. It made me feel just a little antsy about Mr. Silent-type.

I also agree that Gleam should be left alone for a few days. Or should I say nights? Time will tell, unfortunately, if he is a civ.

Random thought on BDH- he's played remarkably well for a first timer with no team. But, I have seen a few other players do that. No on second thought, I haven't. The players I'm thinking of were on baddie teams. But on the flip side, most new players on teams don't do as well either, so maybe he's just really born to mafia.

I'm not good at reading JC's baddie game. She seems civ to me but I'm still watching. Because I'm not good at reading her baddie game. :)

That goes for a lot of people though.

I'll be back later with more thoughts.

I've been trying to go through borokkuei's posts today because something has made me feel uneasy about him since this post:
borokkuei wrote:tfw someone finally died and the game can progress.

w00t

RIP if you were a civ, llama. I didn't have a read on you at all, but hopefully you were bad, considering you're dead now.
not sure what TFW means, but he's happy someone died...really?!?!?! While there were many questions about Llama's affiliation (i think most of us were leaning more toward Llama being one of the civilians), in the end, he was killed by the blue laser team which is a victory for the badguys and hardly something to celebrate.

Then there's this post:
borokkuei wrote:Oh, I didn't know that about the "survived a lynch thing"-- that he has previously almost been lynch, survived it, and the ratio of civ to bad roles that had that power.

I think everyone is underestimating the degree at which I am totally not paying attention to anything. If that makes me look like a baddie, then I guess I agree, but by now there's nothing I can do about that.

linki: again, I dunno why I survived that trogdor thing. All I know is that it was a "host error". For all I know, someone messaged daisy with a message like "lol I'm trogdor kill brorokrkuieiiiiiii"
First, how could he not know about Llama surviving the lynch unless he truly is not paying attention. Which brings me to this theory...

What if Borokuei is trogdor? He could've sent his hut selection in and the "host error" was that Daisy randomized his name in the list of everyone else in that hut. realizing she let trogdor essentially commit suicide she had to rectify the situation and brought borokkuei back. Then, as he admits, he hasn't been focusing on the game and forgot to send it his other night PMs.

All in all, borokkuei has jumped straight up to #2 on my suspect list.
I had considered the same thing, but after I thought about it, I realized that trogdor probably doesn't have to send in a hut now that it's done privately. Unless he accidentally sent one in the first night, not realizing he didn't have to. And then daisy might have randomized him, without catching it.

I don't know though. It seems like he wouldn't have to choose a hut anymore.

MP, I'm withholding judgement on all fronts until timmer finishes his read through. Frankly, his take on everything page by page is like a blast from the past, he seems to be having the same reactions to each event that I, and I'm sure a few others had. So I'm curious to know whether he will change his stance about you after catching completely up. I have relaxed a bit about you, but I still don't know if you just have me fooled or not.

I'm hoping BWT will tell me why he stopped being susp of you. It's good to have opinions from people who are familiar with each other.

Timmer, I'm so glad you brought up the parchment. I have been wary of mp, and then I'll relax a bit where he's concerned. But I can't rule him out completely as a baddie. I was going to ask the dreaded question, for people familiar with mp as a baddie vs. mp as a civ. yes, I am reduced to making a judgement based on 'feel' instead of the logic.

BWT didn't completely trust mp at the start, but I believe he does now. I'd like to know whether people believe this is his baddie style or his civvie style.

Oh, and I believe that trogdor is either dp or borok himself. Yes I know Trog killed borok, but a mistake was made, and since I don't know what the mistake was, I'm not ruling him out.

I just hate to see you get lynched a civ again when/cause your playstyle is so unique.

Linki w/ Matahari: I think Timmer and DP are better candidates than Lizzy. I hadn't thought about DFaraday. He's been dropping in just enough so that we won't super notice his absence, but I don't know how active he usually is in other games.
Mongoose, I know comparisons to other games are not foolproof, but I think it's helpful to know and combine with other thread stuff. So I look at that too. I've noticed that dfaraday does most of his posting later in the evening, and I won't swear to this, but he keeps it simple as a civ. If he gets mentioned earlier in the day, and he shows up soon after, I worry.

But again, that is just the experience I've had in games with him, and I'm sure other players with more experience, might be able to tell me a thing or two. And either way, I would want more to go on before I would consider a vote there. I hope other players will give their two cents on whether they think he would be a possible option for Trog.

BWT- interesting point on timmer. I'm thinking he said his vacation was over in four days, and that was a couple days back, so maybe he'll be more active soon.

Was borokkuei maybe being targeted by Trogdor? I don't see anything in his abilities that would allow him to target a specific player like that though...

It's possible that I don't understand how the trogdor thing works, but I was think that trogdor doesn't get to specifically target a person. Just a hut. And daisy randomizes between the players in the chosen hut. Have I got that right?

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 3]

I've been a bit suspicious of a few players because of a possible link to elohcin.

First it was mongoose because of the chatting in the thread, then Bea, for the exchange about voting elohcin for randomizing. Then she tried to make it seem bad that i never explained my vote until she asked for an explanation. But I felt a tiny bit better about her, after she explained that she had missed my original post. Then I started to doubt her again after hedgeowl said the same thing, that elohcin was being voted because she randomized.

I briefly suspected jc but after thinking about it, I started thinking that jc was just questioning things because that's what she does.

I'm going to vote hedgeowl today (sorry Hedge, I enjoy playing with you, but I kind of think you're dangerous this game).

After this , I'm going to try a reread of devin and Bullzeye. I have just an inkling of suspicion in the back of my mind, regarding one of the bad teams having a dead role check, someone rezzing someone, someone hinting at what role they might be; these thoughts are kind of turning over in my head, and might mean absolutely nothing. It all feels kind of funny though. I'll do some investigating.

I mentioned that I was randomizing low posters but nothing about Elo randomizing.
Sorry jc- I think I read way too much in one sitting yesterday, and things probably got overlapped. I should have double checked before posting, but frankly I was at a point where I was tired of looking back.

Also, thanks Bea, I feel a bit better where you are concerned too.

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 3]

Devin, sometimes the petty shit is just something someone else felt like they needed to say  What in particular are you referring to?

Ive reread the first fifteen pages, and kept up with the last 5 or thereabouts, and ive firgotten half of what i wanted to comment on. the long posts are a bit tedious to read and tend to be distracting. I don't know if that is the purpose of making so many long posts, or if the people doing it really feel the need to say so much.

Anyway, my point in the reread was to see who defended elohcin, and to try getting a grip on MP's turnabout on the day 0 poll stuff.

Bea, hedgeowl, and Juliet's all said almost the same thing: why are people voting elohcin for randomizing? I don't think anyone ever said that they were voting elohcin because she randomized. I'd like to know where that notion came from, because it smacks of chat room talk to me.

On the whole 'lets talk about info on the poll, and then let's don't talk about it'- something is just not right about that whole thing. It was suddenly bad to talk about it because it would out civvies to the baddies. The last time I was a baddie, everyone was my teams enemy- I didn't give a rats ass whether we killed a civvie or a baddie on the other team, or an Indy. As long as no one on my team got killed. Everyone else needed to die.

So all this talk about protecting the civvies seemed more like a diversion, or a scare tactic to shut down discussion. I wondered why and if it was to actually protect a baddie from being discovered. Snow and bullz both admitted to getting info about which option they needed to win, in order to win something, but only one of them actually won something. If, (just an if) the castle was the civvie option, then bullz voted a non civvie option. If castle wasn't a civvie option, then snow admitted freely that he won info, which somehow doesn't seem like a likely thing to volunteer if you're a non-civvie. This makes me want to keep an eye on bullz just a bit.

Lastly, I'm not sure i trust hedgeowl. I haven't finished reading her yet, at the page I stopped on she seemed to be defending Elohcin.

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 3]

I remember the other thing I wanted to post about. A few other people also brought this up. Mongoose had sort of a ready answer for everything- first she was just discussing theories about the day 0 poll, then she was worrying about discussing theories, after someone questioned her about it. mp posted that everyone should stop discussing things, I don't know but if they were teammates, maybe someone was close to figuring something out about them connected to day 0. Or maybe it's nothing. I reread Kate, who didn't get a lot of time to post but she did mention mongoose and elohcin.

Now mp said he couldn't see mongoose and elohcin actually having that Convo in thread if they were teammates. So maybe they weren't, but mongoose could be on the other team and unluckily for her, chose to converse with a cheerleader.

These were just the thoughts going through my head while reading and they may not make a lot of 'logic' cents, but thoughts and theories happen. So there ya go.

Speaking of fowl, I'm going to reread hedgeowl next

Sense when? I just think you have roughly the same chance of dying with the hut thing and just randomly choosing someone to die.
Scents my sniffer is detecting something foul here. Isn't everything chosen very randomly? How could anyone predict anything?

Re: Homestar Runner [Day 3]

Good grief, it's hard to catch up in this game. I started trying back when svs made her last post, and then more posts/ accusations to catch up on, then more, until I've almost forgotten where I started. I'm going to weigh in now, before trying to catch up again.

First let me say that I'm sorry I can't do multi quotes. I am completely on an iPhone, and each time I start a quite post, I have to transfer between screens, when I grab a quote, and go back to my screen with the post, it starts over and whatever I had in there is gone. Sucks. If its very important, I can do a lot of 1 quote posts, boosting my post count unfairly, but if I'm mentioning just pings, I'll try to just address people in one post.

So here goes: svs, I'd like to hear your opinion on Bea. It would be nice to move her off my ping list, if other people trust her. She made the one response to my post to her, saying that she might not have noticed my original post, then she was removed from the poll. Then she got fairly quiet after that. That us one reason why she is still a ping for me, because I feel like she is trying not to attract attention. I don't know if that is for a good or bad reason, so I'm interested in opinions about bea's style of playing.

Mp- at one point, you stated that you were leaning 1% civvie on mongoose, but by the end of your post, you said mongoose was not getting your vote that day. 99% non-civvie seems like a powerful incentive to lynch someone, I don't understand your thinking here.

Ok, there's more but I forgot it. I'll be back after I read back a little.

:omg: I am so far behind! My apologies, to host and everyone. I placed my vote on MP because he and Bea are still the only pings I had before i went awol. I will try to catch up on the last couple of pages now.

Re: Homestar Runner [Night 1]

I went back to read about trogdor, and I'm curious now, after A Person pointed out that the hut would be gone forever. That seems like common sense, if a location is incinerated, the location would be gone as well. Does that mean that trogdor is limited in locations, or when those locations above have all been decimated, will new locations be added?

Re: Homestar Runner [Night 1]

I have a few questions to answer, hope I don't miss any, if I do, just tell me.

Jc- the reason gleam was a ping for me was because he said that he was voting vomps because vomps went on the most about not having info. I didn't see it as the truth, actually mp went on about it a bit more than vomps did. Then mp seconded gleams vote. This put them in my minor ping list.

Mongoose- I'm not saying I necessarily think you're bad because of including elohcin in your post. I'm saying that you assuming elohcin had an innocent motive caught my attention. This was why the two of you became my other minor pings.

I randomized between my minor pings. I tend to keep an eye on minor pings, because sometimes things develop from there. Sometimes the ping goes away.

I am now more pinged by Bea, but depending on how she responds, that could also blow away. Or not.

I'm going to reread some of the poll posts, I skimmed those, and I'm not sure i understood what bullz meant. It sounded kind of sketchy, but maybe I'm not getting it yet.
