Yeah, I think you're right. Also, I told Wilgy already and am not sure if he passed this info along, but we must go to Emerald Tavern next time; Annie and I went there on Sunday and it was awesome. Tons of awesome games on sale and in their library (to test out), really awesome and helpful staff, and good food/drink.

And for sure! You all are too awesome and too close in driving distance to not visit again.

But seriously, I've played mafia for 5 years now, and all of the games I played for the longest time were open setup and final votes, but that seemed to be general culture among sites that grew out of the Lostpedia-based mafia community.

Since then, I've played on various sites, and while at first I hated changeable votes when Hosts started experimenting with them here, they've definitely grown on me, and I just treat them as two different mechanics. Inevitably, it alters the way I approach the game a bit, but not drastically.

I'm very much looking forward to the tables turning. I think it'll be a lot of fun, since obviously the majority of folks here will feel less at home with the closed role setup, but will all be treading water together and know each other pretty well. The switching lynch votes (or changeable votes, as we call it) system depends on the Host of each individual game. Usually it is not implemented.

Indeed, I've played a handful of games with changeable votes, but more typically they are final once cast.

I've never played a game here with meta gaming here, but that's because the roles in every game that's been hosted here to date, except one, are open setup (all roles are listed), and thus role claiming is disallowed.

Anything is allowed here, really, it's up to the Host's discretion. I plan on hosting/co-hosting two closed setup games in the next hosting queue where claims and meta gaming would be allowed.

Funny thing is TGG got interested in mafia on our site through the first GoC even though he was a member of our site way before that (SRK back when we were playing there), and signed up a couple games later and stuck around.

Also, Gamer Dude was in my game in the first GoC, and signed up to JTM during the nomination period of this year's championships.

So this is a great way to build up communities and players. I only really knew of one other Mafia community before the GoC and that was Smashboards; ironically, they were put into my game as well.

I've always been very curious about other mafia communities; this Championship has opened up a wide universe to us that we are very excited about. I'm definitely loving branching out and meeting new folks!

I've played mafia since 2010.
I like to think I'm important, but I don't think I'm more important than another mafia player necessarily. :P
I think I'm nice... except when I'm mafia.
I am definitely "Loud MP".
And... if sucking at mafia counts... then sure, I suck.

I will never forget in the spectator chat for the last game and some folks kept saying MP did such and such, and all I can remember thinking is WTF is going on right now? I haven't done any of that!

Took me a few minutes to realize that they weren't talking about me.

That's a good point; however, it may be more complicated in our case. I just always call them Snowy and Daisy... their names are more easily broken up. :P

And don't worry about killing this forum, I am pretty sure I'll be hosting this website and playing mafia until my deathbed. If I have to give myself all the roles to make that happen, I will. :P Until then, things seem to be pretty decent here, but it only helps to get more and more awesome players and hosts!

And Secret Mafia 2 was amazing. One of my favorite games still and one of my most treasured wins.
