Re: [DAY 9] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Day 9

MP took a call and listened to the information he was given, "And everyone agrees?"

He nodded, "ok, I'll take care of it myself then. He deserves that much at least."

A short while later he sat down next to Scotty at the bar and motioned for the bartender to give him a beer.

Scotty didn't even look at him, he knew what was coming. "So it's official, huh?"

"Yes, unfortunately."

"Why couldn't they even give me just a little more time? This is ridiculous!"

"We're running out of time, Scotty."

"But you believe me, don't you?"

MP didn't answer, just took a swig of his beer. Scotty understood what that meant. He gave a deep sigh and guzzled the last of his own beer, "Guess it's time to pay the piper then. I hear he's got a peck of pickled peppers with my name on it."

MP never could quite understand Scotty's sense of humor, so he just remained silent as Scotty paid his tab and left the bar to turn himself in.

--------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in prison...

The Warden sat behind is large mahogany desk with classical music playing lightly in the background. He was shuffling through the stack of papers in front of him when a blaring siren went off. He knew instantly it meant trouble in the Prison Yard, so he leapt from his seat and rushed out just in time to see the guards subduing a group of prisoners with billy clubs and tear gas. When the gas had cleared and the inmates were back in their cells, there were two bodies left laying in the prison yard. The Warden glared at his guards and ordered, "take care of this mess," before heading back to his office. He would have to write up a report on the deaths of Prisoner 219747 and Prisoner 153930. He hated writing reports.

Scotty has been arrested. He was Messaggero, a member of The Sockfaced Famiglia.

Prisoner 153930 has been shanked. He was Dragon D. Luffy.

Prisoner 219747 has been shanked. He was Golden.

It is now Night 9.

You have 23 hours to send in your night actions.

If this is something you're able to clarify: would you, under any circumstances, allow a player to intentionally get modkilled?
No, though naturally a player could intentionally break the rules (by role outing) and there technically wouldn't be any way for me to know whether they did it intentionally or not, so other than those kinds of situations, no.

To further clarify, there's no way I would let the Seemer benefit from their role use in the event of a modkill. A Seemer, if modkilled, would flip as Seemer.

Absolutely don't do it.
5. No dumping information you received from the Host (whether role-related or not) into the thread. This includes statements that more often are seen as implications, rather than statements of fact (role outing). An example would be declaring that "I have reasons to believe MovingPictures07 is Beat Cop" without elaborating. If you are unsure if what you are about to say constitutes info dumping, please PM the hosts first before making the post. If you fail to do this and your post does violate information dumping, then you and your faction will be punished.
6. You may, however, alignment claim truthfully or falsely, although it is not necessarily recommended.
Role outing and strong role hints of any kind will not be tolerated. They potentially break the game.

Can I still post my role-guess for Epi using game-based facts without breaking any rules?

My internet absolutely shit itself, and I'd have had this posted like 20 minutes ago if I could. I'm basically done but I'm gonna wait on MP.
As noted in Rule 5., it's totally acceptable if players use in-thread reasons to speculate on why players might be certain roles. For example, you can say "I think MovingPictures07 might be such and such role because he's strongly defending Spacedaisy and it seems they might have BTSC given this post" or whatever.

The problem arises when players make statements about their role that otherwise would not be surmised by normal thread behavior. Like, sig's "Message" statement couldn't possibly be interpreted as anything other than "I am heavily hinting that I am the Messaggero".

Thanks for asking. Hope that clarifies. If not, let us know.

sig, you've broken the role outing rule blatantly here. We were tempted to kill you at the time you made your "Message" post, but it went essentially unnoticed, and we decided to be lenient on the matter. It's too late for further leniency now that your statement has seriously affected the game.

I'm not kidding, folks, please don't role out or hint to the point that anyone can figure out your role, whether it's true or not. We won't tolerate it. It's not fair play. At all.

Although Warden has access to the sockpuppet, Daisy and I do as well. For Prison Yard trials to be effective and timely, as well as to obfuscate the Warden's identity, your hosts have posted using that account in the prison. In addition, many posts by Warden in prison have thus far been direct or twisted quotes from Shawshank Redemption.

So while prisoners and main game players are more than welcome to hunt for Warden using whatever methods they wish, Daisy and I personally advise against reading too much into Warden's posting timing, language, etc. in prison threads as a sole basis for hunting down that player.

Did you post using the warden's sock account in this game thread at any point?

"I think the impact is even better right for this very moment."

Re: [DAY 7] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Day 7

The families gathered once again together, to discuss who might be a cop. There was a lot of disagreement and MP and Daisy watched from an office window above the warehouse floor where they were gathered. "Who do you think it will be today?" Daisy asked.

MP shrugged, "I've given up trying to anticipate what this crowd will do."

"And hope that they hit the mark."

On the floor the conversation flowed on until finally they began to coalesce around Turnip Head. He defended himself, but to no avail. The mob had decided. Turnip Head left the room, headed for the police department where he would turn himself in. He was only a block away when a shadowy figure stepped out, "Stop!"

"The families decided, if I don't go now, they will kill me."

"No, they won't. We won't let this happen. Come with me."

Turnip Head hesitated, but in the end he valued his freedom, so he followed. After all, he was too pretty to survive in prison.

Re: [NIGHT 6] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

This is a generic message meant for the entire thread. I'm definitely not calling anyone out here, but I want this to be bluntly known for future reference.

Nobody deserves to be told to "fuck off" or called a name. That's not in the spirit of the game and makes the game inevitably personal. I'm tired of recent games on this site where everyone seems to be increasingly becoming more comfortable with name calling or very aggressive curse phrases. So I'm drawing a line. And that line clearly stops at insults and personal attacks, including name calling.

We are not censoring anyone, so feel free to use curse words however you want, but know that privilege comes with the responsibility of not flinging them ad hominem. Hurling insults at someone inevitably borders into personal and we don't want that. There are other in-game ways to vehemently disagree with someone. If you are feeling heated, walk away or vent what you were going to say in the thread to the MoD. If you have a problem with this policy, tough luck, you can vent that to the MoD as well. I'm putting my foot down and it will stay down.

We're all friends here, so let's please treat one another like it, even among the utmost frustration of the game.

Thank you.

For the first time, Daisy didn't reply with confidence, "I'd be lying if I said it didn't."

MP looked at her in surprise, this was not the answer he expected.

"It hasn't been going as well as I'd like. In fact, I am concerned we are in real danger of losing. Both of us."

"So what do we do?"

"What we've always done, take another person out and hope for once we get it right."

MP nodded, "I got word who they chose this time, it's ika."

This is mostly the point i was makign when SF made his announcement. This is mafia so heat will be brought and should be taken, i tend to use this kind of dicussions myself to get reads. I dont get personal unless someone else starts it, i see on this site i wont be happened so i wont. if it ever got to that poitn for me i would leave the game for a bit. silver has taught me to do that when i get upset

Especially over the internet, it can be difficult to detect someone's tone and level of intensity with regards to emotional content, hence the need for the function, whether for venting or arbitration.

Nonetheless, if you are not upset, then that's great. If you (or anyone else, for that matter) ever gets upset to that degree, well, just know that the function is there for you.

ika wrote:i belive that if things are being heated (as they seem to be getting right now) that it should be monitored, i dont think anyone really got into a personal territory overall. If it did reach that for me or silver we would be telling the ohter in here ot go talkt o mod on duty, we both know our limits on it.
I don't remind the thread in order to single everyone out, rather, as a precaution for folks to make sure they remember to utilize the function if anyone reaches that point; I've seen and participated in too many instances where that was not the case.

So if you feel as though you or SW have been called out by my announcement, it was the furthest from my intention to do so. No one's pointing fingers or questioning judgment here; I just want to make that abundantly clear.

Re: [DAY 6] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Hey all, let's not forget about the Mod on Duty function, and be sure that we avoid making this game unnecessarily personal or emotionally heated for each other.

Mafia is a game of deception, strategy, and emotion, so tensions rise. Nonetheless, if you feel you've been unfairly attacked, then please seek to vent and/or resolve the conflict by PMing our lovely tentacled Mod. If it really becomes a major issue which you cannot resolve with the Mod, then I will get involved, but I'd rather not things reach that stage to begin with. If any of you ever have questions on the MoD function, don't hesitate to let Blooper, me, or Daisy know.

Thanks folks! We hope you're enjoying the game.

Re: [NIGHT 4] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Hey all! I forgot to remind you about the Loan Shark, but remember that they will always be offering votes all the time. Each Night/Day cycle is attributable to that Day's lynch.

MovingPictures07 wrote:Host Announcement:

The Loan Shark for The Sockfaced Famiglia is now accepting offers for Day 6 votes.

The Loan Shark for The Daisy Crime Syndicate is now accepting offers for Day 6 votes.

Instructions:
1) PM Sockface Loan Shark or Daisy Loan Shark and request the number of votes (either 1, 2, or 3) you would like to request. You may request votes starting now up until the end of Day 6.
2) The Loan Shark will then return your PM telling you only if he has confirmed your request. If he has denied your request, you will hear nothing.
3) If he has confirmed your request, you will receive the number of extra votes to be cast in secret only for Day 6. If you do not elect to use them during Day 6 by PMing your host, your extra votes will vanish.
4) Regardless of whether you used your votes, after Day 6's completion, the Loan Shark will then tell you the terms for payment, which you must complete.

Do NOT engage in BTSC to the Loan Shark sockpuppet accounts. The Loan Shark means business only. He doesn't want to hear about your bullsuit.

If you have questions, let your host know.

Nero (and everyone else), when you use the spoiler tag, make sure you "quote" tag it first, otherwise it'll be impossible to see on the default background.

I added quote tags for you here, Nero:

Re: [DAY 6] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

The first page posts (player roster + story) have been updated.

And I think necessary PMs and such are out... but I just spent over an hour doing 9001 things simultaneously, so please post in the thread or PM me if you have questions (depending on their nature).

Re: [NIGHT 5] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Night 5

"Freedom! Sweet freedom!" Prisoner 740359 yelled as he ran outside the building. He high-fived Prisoner 509378.

"Sorry, 740, I have more work to do. You go on ahead. I'll meet up with you later," Prisoner 509378 explained.

Prisoner 740359 didn't understand why a prisoner would want to spend one more second looking for cops. "Suit yourself, homie50. If you do find more cops, tell them hello for me... with a STABBING!" He laughed maniacally, then ran off.

Suddenly, a S.W.A.T. team busted through the doors of the building. "Get back in your cells, maggots!" the Warden commanded, as the S.W.A.T team threatened the prisoners with death if they didn't move quickly. "Took y'all long enough," he remarked at his backup.

Prisoner 509378 has been paroled! He will remain in the game.

Prisoner 740359 has also been paroled! However, he has fled the game... and completed his win condition! He was Ricochet.

Prisoner 379949 has been killed in a shooting (for being inactive). He was Tranq.

Prisoner 513538 has been killed in a shooting (for being inactive). He was Diiny.

Prisoner 980854 has been killed in a shooting (for being inactive). He was RadicalFuzz.

The remaining prisoners have been rounded up by the Warden and taken back to Syndicate Penitentiary.

It is now Day 6.

You have 48 hours to find a policeman. Good luck, goons!
