Re: [NIGHT 5] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Night 5

Matt shifted his weight from one foot to the other. He was anxiously waiting on the other family delegate to show up for the meeting. He idly looked over the pictures that lined the shelf beside him. Zebra's family seemed nice, but they all had family so he didn't think much more about it beyond that. If he thought about those things too much, the consequences of their actions would suffocate him. There was a knock at the door and he quickly turned to watch Zebra open it and let Golden in.

"Did anyone see you?" Matt asked.

Golden gave him a look of irritation and said, "I wasn't followed if that's what you are asking."

Zebra motioned to a chair, "Have a seat."

"I'd rather stand, Matt's making me nervous and I want to just get this over with."

Zebra shrugged, "suit yourself."

Matt reached down to pick up the brief case that he had been ordered to bring to Golden, but just as his fingers closed around the handle the door burst open. A smoke bomb was tossed in and he quickly found himself blind and disoriented as the room filled with smoke and yelling ensued. The police team were swarming in the room amid shouts of, "down on the ground, hands up, don't move!"

Golden dropped to the floor quickly, he didn't want trouble. Just as he got down he heard one of the police call out, "Gun! He's got a gun!"

Then came the ear splitting repercussion of the gunfire in such a small space. When the commotion died down only moments later, Golden snuck a peak to figure out what had happened. He could see two other people laying on the ground, but only one of them was moving. Zebra wriggled as the cops cuffed her, but Matt lay with his eyes open wide in a permanent look of shock. Blood pooled beneath him from where the police had shot him through the heart.

"Son of a bitch," Zebra muttered. It was a very bad night for the families. Seemed like they were having a lot of those lately. She hoped they hadn't started a war they couldn't win. The cops hauled both zebra and Golden from the house and placed them under arrest.

Golden has been arrested by the Police. He was ?????.

a2thezebra has been arrested by the Police. She was ?????.

Matt 2.0 has been killed by the Police. He was the Hitman, a member of The Sockfaced Famiglia.

Hey all. Just a warning that stuff might be a bit delayed because I'm flying solo tonight (Daisy is working) and I have a ton of permissions stuff to do right after the poll deadline. Might not be much, but it'll probably take me a little while to wrap everything up.

What's on your mind with regards to prisoners?
I'm not quite sure, about any of them. I assume they knew they'd be paroled which is why they got so involved. At least one of them is a mafia member potentially more. I like what I saw of 509, and we need to vote for one, but I dislike this whole process can't help but think it will go poorly for the civs.

@hosts why did the breakout happen this phase? Was this triggered by something or is it a mafia abilty.

Also, just to be 100% clear, prisoners can vote as well as main game players. They just cannot self-vote.

Re: [DAY 5] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Day 5

The Syndicate had erupted in a state of chaos. All the prisoners from Syndicate Penitentiary had escaped and they were running rampant throughout the town. Free members were confused and concerned and the Police were frustrated. This was not part of their plan, so they were frantically trying to incarcerate the prisoners once again. In the meantime, votes were pouring in. The prisoners were making the most of their freedom, letting their voices and opinions be known. The question is whether or not they were helping the families. As the day drew to a close the prisoners became more excited to see who might be joining them in the prison. The final tally was counted and they had their answer. Dragon D. Luffy was quickly cuffed and led away for booking.

--------------------------------------------------

MP and Daisy sat at a small table at the front of a crowded room. Everyone was crammed in here now, prisoners, police and both families.

MP banged a gavel on the table (it made him feel important, like a judge or something) and called for attention, "The time has come to grant someone parole, all of the prisoners are here and it is up to us to grant one of them freedom."

Daisy nodded, "Your decision here is important. Each prisoner is allowed to vote as well, but self voting is strictly prohibited. Choose wisely."

Dragon D. Luffy has been arrested. He was Sockface, a member of The Sockfaced Famiglia.

It is now Night 5.

You have 24 hours to vote on a prisoner to be paroled.
You have 23 hours to send in your night actions.

Re: [DAY 5] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

I know no question has been asked, but we have received questions about this via PM, and I want to clarify for all prisoners and main game players, since this hasn't been clarified.

Although Warden has access to the sockpuppet, Daisy and I do as well. For Prison Yard trials to be effective and timely, as well as to obfuscate the Warden's identity, your hosts have posted using that account in the prison. In addition, many posts by Warden in prison have thus far been direct or twisted quotes from Shawshank Redemption.

So while prisoners and main game players are more than welcome to hunt for Warden using whatever methods they wish, Daisy and I personally advise against reading too much into Warden's posting timing, language, etc. in prison threads as a sole basis for hunting down that player.

You can use more than one set of spoiler tags in a post, but only if they're completely separated. You can't have a set of spoilers within another set of spoilers.

Re: [DAY 5] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Yeah, you can't use more than one set of spoiler tags in one post, otherwise the system can't handle it. It becomes confused because if you start with an activation, then ANOTHER activation, before the first activation can be closed with the / spoiler, the website doesn't know what to do with it, and so it pukes.

Also, when you use spoiler tags, it's heavily recommended to make sure everything is surrounded in quotes first. I've gotten in a habit of highlighting everything I want to spoil, clicking "Quote", then clicking "Spoiler", because otherwise it's very hard to read on the black/lucid lime background.

Re: [DAY 5] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Day 5

Word of the prison break had spread quickly. "Yo, I heard Prisoner 888206 broke out of prison along with the rest of them today."

"Prisoner 888206? You're not kidding?"

"No, slick, I saw him with my own eyes."

"...I hate that guy. I'll get my revenge now."

The angry former convict marched down to the tallest building in The Syndicate. He broke down the door and whipped out his gun.

"NOBODY MOVE!" He quickly looked around the room as chaos ensued. He managed to spot Prisoner 888206, who was busy talking about his time before the clink to some guy named Golden. Suddenly, he lost all ability to breathe, as a bullet penetrated his head. His body collapsed to the ground, as Golden let out a very girlish scream.

Prisoner 888206 has been killed in a shooting (for breaking the rules). He was Long Con.

It is still Day 5.

Please take utmost note of these rules regarding prisoner activity in the main game subforum. Violations will be swiftly and severely punished.

Re: [NIGHT 4] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Night 4

The police (Rooooooxaaaaaanne!) were busy blending into the crowd at a popular night club. If anyone was paying enough attention they might catch their furtive glances around the room, small nods to each other and various other clues that would give away the fact they were in the middle of a sting operation.

Metalmarsh wasn't paying enough attention though. In fact, he was busy living it up. Let's just say it, he was drunk. They were hoping it might be a good chance for them to catch him slipping up, give away his role in the mob. They were unlucky so far. As The Marmot (as he was called on the streets) wrapped up his evening and stumbled out the his car, they kept watching, holding onto some slim hope. He fumbled with his keys before managing to get it unlocked and climb into the driver's seat.

"Got him!" the Chief exclaimed as they quickly rushed in, guns pulled. It might have just been for a DUI, but at least they could lock him up now.

------------------------------------------------------

As dawn broke in Syndicate Penitentiary, the Warden quickly realized something was amiss. He walked to the first cell in the block and called out to the prisoner he could see curled up under his covers. The prisoner didn't even stir. He banged on the bars with his night stick, no response. "Guard!" he barked to his subordinate, "get over here and unlock this door, NOW!"

Once the guard had unlocked the cell and slid the door open, the Warden stepped inside and jabbed at the lump on the bed, and then lifted the blanket only to discover that underneath there was nothing but a pillow. The Warden's face flushed red as his rage grew, "Search the prison, find out who else is missing!"

It was worse than he could have imagined, they had all escaped. It was a coordinated prison break!

Metalmarsh89 has been arrested by the Police. He was ?????.

All of the prisoners have escaped Syndicate Penitentiary!

It is now Day 5.

Oh really? Was that clarified by the hosts?

@HOSTS if The Don just bolded every person in the game in a different post, would that qualify as a vote for the traitor, or does that mechanism only work for the final vote by EoD?
Temporary votes count for purposes of The Traitor mechanism, so to answer your question, yes, The Don could have done that and it would have activated it.

Re: [NIGHT 4] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

I agree that this conversation is off-topic and has been (and should continue to be) held elsewhere, but I want to comment nonetheless.

I think the reason(s) civilians win less here is very complex and it's difficult to assess truly what is causing it. Personally, I've mulled over it quite a lot, and I think it's a combination of:

1) Complex and unconventional game setups that are difficult to balance, skewing toward mafia-heavy balanced
2) Very complex setups that make it so that the civilians have to scumhunt in addition to solving the game's setup
3) A site full of mostly very skilled players that are at least as adapt at playing mafia roles, if not significantly better, than civilian ones
4) A mentality of civilians to look out only for themselves, when push comes to shove, rather than view themselves as a part of an uninformed team

And perhaps other factor(s) driven entirely by individual players, their playstyles, and their RL/mafia schedules.

I know particularly point 4) is argued and some don't believe that, but I'm firmly in that camp. I believe that because of the fact that many players here have played largely very complex open-setup role madness no-info dumping games for most of their career that it means they approach the game differently, and it causes 4) to exhibit itself. Civilians, especially when under pressure, can become too selfish and not reassess and collaborate as much as they should, IMO.

Re: [NIGHT 4] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Host Announcement:

The Loan Shark for The Sockfaced Famiglia is now accepting offers for Day 5 votes.

The Loan Shark for The Daisy Crime Syndicate is now accepting offers for Day 5 votes.

Instructions:
1) PM Sockface Loan Shark or Daisy Loan Shark and request the number of votes (either 1, 2, or 3) you would like to request. You may request votes starting now up until the end of Day 5.
2) The Loan Shark will then return your PM telling you only if he has confirmed your request. If he has denied your request, you will hear nothing.
3) If he has confirmed your request, you will receive the number of extra votes to be cast in secret only for Day 5. If you do not elect to use them during Day 5 by PMing your host, your extra votes will vanish.
4) Regardless of whether you used your votes, after Day 5's completion, the Loan Shark will then tell you the terms for payment, which you must complete.

Do NOT engage in BTSC to the Loan Shark sockpuppet accounts. The Loan Shark means business only. He doesn't want to hear about your bullsuit.

If you have questions, let your host know.

Re: [DAY 4] Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Day 4

"Hey Daisy, how are you feeling?" MP inquired as he knocked on the door of Daisy's office. She had started to feel ill the previous day. The lazy man that he is, MP was really hoping she would be feeling better so he wouldn't have to do more work.

No answer.

He knocked again.

Still no answer. MP sighed.

"Guess I'll have to take care of things on my lonesome today." MP left and headed toward his office. As he went down the hallway, he ran into Dom, no longer on strike.

"Dom, any chance you know which family member everyone is speculating most likely to be a cop?"

Dom shook his head. "No. Try asking Blooper."

MP walked down the hallway of the top floor and stood at the elevator. Having gone down just one floor, he then quickly located and knocked on Blooper's office door. She answered.

"You rang?"

"Any news? Is anyone under a lot of suspicion right now? I presume no one has yet turned him or herself in?"

"Funny you mention that, I just got off the phone with the Police. agleaminranks just turned himself in."

"agleaminranks?" MP shook his head in disappointment. "Why him? Ugh. The poor bastard."

agleaminranks has been arrested. He was the Traitor, a member of The Sockfaced Famiglia. He had defected from The Daisy Crime Syndicate after Day 1.

It is now Night 4.

You have 23 hours to send in your night actions.

A hammer has been swung.

Not a large one, mind you, in fact it is rather small. A hammer mostly of warning. Next time someone self votes though, I'll be pulling out the big guns (well, hammer). :slick:
