Re: Disney Cars Mafia [Day 2]

EBWOP: BWT, what I'm saying is, instead of just looking at players who bandwagoned Blooper OR who made jokey posts, why not examine them all?And then decide who you believe is least sincere or most likely to have nefarious intentions?

I'd like to hear what others have to say re: Llama, and others, and I really need to get this lit review done, so this time I'm gone for real.

Re: Disney Cars Mafia [Day 2]

Literature reviews are seriously the most grotesque endeavor imaginable. (may be an exaggeration... but they suck) :wall:

Snow Dog, I don't know where you actually voted, but you said you were voting me (which was obviously a joke), so I saw your behavior as hopping more than once.

Nonetheless, even if you consider it only hopping from Blooper to not, could you not understand why it seems you made a meaningless vote that appears as if you didn't want to take responsibility for a bandwagon vote?

I don't even necessarily believe that to be true, but that's why I listed your name, because I'm unsure as to your intentions.

BWT, here's what I said before:

birdwithteeth11 wrote:Alright. So I am now finally caught up. And here's what I have so far.

-Ninja took quite a bit of flak for her post where she questioned why so many people were voting early on Day 1. And from what I gathered, llama got heat for seeming to be jumping on an "easy case". But I thought a lot of people seemed way too eager to vote for ninja, even with it being Day 1 and all. So I will be taking a good look at everyone who voted for her and got her lynched.

- Sabie and LC voted for me because I hadn't shown up. After I did show up, both of them continued to leave their votes on me. I remember sabie actively stating she was leaving her vote on me for missing the Day 0 poll. Honestly, if that's the only poll I miss, that doesn't mean anything at all. I've just been really busy this week and only had enough time/energy to check in once. I do find it odd that LC said he'd leave his vote on me because he "didn't feel the need" with Ninja ahead of me in the votes. But I'm more likely to give him a pass on it than sabie.

Yeah, that's all I've got so far.
What about Made and Boogs that voted for me basically for no reason whatsoever? And all of the llama voters?

You think you should look ONLY at the Ninja voters nonetheless?

See, here's the logical fallacy we always run into as players. Consider this:

Llama is civ. (I'm not saying he is, I have no idea, this is just a scenario). Let's switch the number of votes that struck Llama and Blooper yesterday. Llama gets flipped. Then who would everyone be looking at? Llama's voters. Even though there were plenty of players who voted each, and each were civ, the players who get exclusively eyeballed by the masses are the voters of the lynchee, even though it's possible baddies voted for either player.

That's the problem I always have with looking solely at the "______ voters" for each lynch. Yes, they should be considered, but I think others should get the :eye: and be forced to disclose their intentions as well. Because we honestly have no idea what the baddies did last lynch: whether they bandwagoned onto Blooper, bandwagoned onto Llama, or threw off onto me or you or someone else.
MovingPictures07 wrote:Why can't a civvie vote for someone after someone else has voted for them?

Why can't a baddie lead a lynch with a case?

Ambray very well could be bad. I argue the first because I am a civvie and I voted for Blooper because I thought Ambray and FZ.'s observations rang with some content when I revisited Blooper's post.
My problem is you're focusing to groups of votes by players instead of just looking at all of them. We don't know what the baddies would have done. Players bandwagoned onto Blooper and Llama, as well as threw off jokey and meaningless votes.

Re: Disney Cars Mafia [Day 2]

BWT, to be fair, Boogs voted for me because at that moment in time, I had voted for him, and he's apparently busy. Made just voted for me right off the bat and never moved it. It doesn't help that the game started around a busy time for a lot of people (not faulting anyone for that though).

Why are you not looking at Llama voters?

Anyway, I know you've recently caught up, so I'm just curious to see what you'll find.

I need to work on a bunch of stuff today that I was ignoring yesterday and the day prior, so I'll be back... sometime.

I'm quite interested by all the 'joke votes' on D1 that ended up not being a joke at all because they were never changed. I think overall that led to spread out votes and an easy to manipulate poll. I'm going to have to go look at it again to remember what the end result was.
I agree on the joke votes. I don't understand why we wouldn't examine those as well.

I think of all the Ninja voters, the only one I'm probably not going to examine closely is Ambray. Since she actually put forth a case of her own for voting Ninja. Everyone else felt like an easy bandwagon to me.
I don't think anyone falls into that category other than Snowy... right? I'm not sure though.

Why not FZ.? Did she not put forth a case?

Something about his reactions seems too cheerful or merry, as he calls it, to feel genuine. But I know he gets lynched often on day 1, so I wonder if it's one of those instances
Good point re: baddies on D1. Never thought of it that way before.

Regarding this, yeah, I don't know. I haven't seen enough actual baddie hunting from him yet, but I'm not sure as to his alignment really at all right now. I wouldn't say his behavior so far is out of character for his personality, so I'm hesitant to let him seeming too careless as indicative of baddieness.
I don't know. When I talk about baddies pushing a little too much, the line where he explains why he's voting Nunju strikes me as a good example for that. I'm kind of torn between those two. No one else caught my attention other than that so far.

Tink and Simon are surely to be enigmas.

Ambray I haven't played with in forever, so not really anything there.

Kate and FZ. can both be insightful, yet aggressive (in a good way). Scary if they're bad, awesome if they're good. They're also both quick to voice their opinion even if it is the unpopular one.

Seems like an easy way to hide your bad vote if you're bad. I'll wait a bit before I make my decision since we have until tomorrow, but these votes ping me something awful.

I thought that at first, then I realized there were more votes than baddies so the civvies have just hidden the baddies intentions for them. I thought, hey might as well. It's already too late to get anything real from the first few pages.

Another time out? :overreact: Off to the local orphanage with my trusty torch.
Agreed here. For future votes I think the charm will be somewhat lost.

le vote
How is that worthy of a vote? My views on people using the Seemer excuse are well known. I hate it. Even in games with a Seemer.

Thanks for the vote. But I really have nothing to say. Trust me when I see something I will be sure to bring it up.
Lol, fair enough.

Well, I'm moving to BWT until we hear from him then. Apparently my vote of breaching the silence worked.

Personally, I don't get all the early voting. To me, all it does is garner reactions that are allowed to be humorous because no one can really take them serious, hence it helps the baddies blend it.

limki: why do you need a vote on the board? Did I miss something? Do we not have 48 hours?
I don't either, frankly. I missed playing with you over here, FZ. :p

But it seems the trend in games anymore to have changeable votes (personally, I don't like them, but that's just my preference). I used changeable votes in Doctor Who, especially early on in the game, to vote the person that currently was highest on my :eye:, and whether I kept the vote on them was usually specified in my posts.

I don't feel comfortable ending the day period with my Rox vote, but I do think it was odd she was like "WTF with the early votes?" then turned around and made one herself. I just wanted to make her and others aware of that. It also is an easier way to start discussion; players are less apt to ignore suspicions if you've accompanied a vote with them.

I presume something better will come up and I'll change it, but if I don't or if I miss the vote, then at least I have a vote of some ping registered.

It's really a case of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". Normally I would never vote this early, personally. Can't speak for why everyone else is voting the way they are.
The feeling is mutual :)
By the looks of it, you're much more vocal then your last few games. Any reason for that?
I get that. We used to do a lot of voting on the first day to start the game rolling, but a. not used to it here, and b. in my opinion, if it's just followed by a joke, it does the opposite of what it's supposed to do
Several reasons for that:

1) My PhD work pretty much dictates the bulk of my schedule, and the times where I am absolutely swamped versus mostly swamped and have some goof time come in waves.

2) Ever since Annie came to visit me and left a couple of weeks ago now, I had a whole week where I was out of commission, and subsequent to her leaving I was feeling sort of down which caused me to not be as enthusiastic about playing mafia as I would otherwise.

3) Due to 1 and 2, and other reasons, I wasn't feeling 100% engaged in Monopoly, Zelda, or the Teen Wolf KSite game.

4) The reason I am particularly active today is getting a lot accomplished over the past weekend and because I've been trying to write an essay for my seminar class -- and it's been nice to take breaks in between segments of writing.

Also, it takes a certain amount of time before I become properly engaged in a mafia game, and it's possible for me to even become engaged after a long period of being disengaged or become disengaged after a long period of being engaged, though the latter is less likely. If I feel I have been out of the loop of a game for too long, I feel it's harder to get my bearings.

As I've said in other games, my posting volume never really has anything to do with my alignment; it's pretty much always just outside factors interfering.

Now, regarding your last point, you raise an excellent argument, which is why I'm a bit wary of taking the early voting for granted myself. I feel players should take responsibility for their votes (also why I'm against randomizing).

What made you change your mind?
Her response made me realize it was more of the dynamic between Rox and Llama specifically (a perspective I didn't consider when reading it the first time) and less to do with Rox placing her vote on someone she thought deserved the vote. And my vote reasoning felt more weak the more I thought about it.

Not sure I plan to vote early in future periods now. :p

Made wrote:Yo, what exactly is restarting the day do? I've never actually seen it used. Is it like the day didn't happen, votes cleared. Also does it need to be triggered at a certain time or anything like that?
This is a good question, Made; I too await the host's response.

I've only seen it as a role in two other games, and in both circumstances (my Super Meat Boy and llama's The Shining) it didn't get used. The way I intended it when I wrote it for SMB was for the whole day to restart, i.e., the player who died comes back to life and the whole lynch period is repeated, as if it never happened.

Yay game!

Lol @ Made's "green buttface car".

I picked #7 because I like that number. :noble:

I won't be here very often myself; RL has been busy with getting close to wrapping up the semester and now I'm in three games. Lol. But I'll try to be around as often as I can!
