Re: Monopoly Mafia [Day 4]
Here's my thinking on it: I have an event I would like to do for the only resurrects that will be in the game. That means I need dead players who actually have an interest in coming back, which means if we keep bringing in dead players to fill replacements, it just won't happen, and (if we're not already there) we're quickly reaching the point where it just isn't feasible to expect a new player to be able to come in and really catch up and get into the game. So, I am considering for players who want to be replaced now and in the future to just be pseudo-killed off, with their properties going up for auction. My problem there is disadvantaging their potential teammates if it's a public auction, which makes me lean towards wanting to do this, but having those bids be private, and perhaps a bonus to teammates of the people leaving the game to give them a better chance of remaining competitive in the game.fingersplints wrote:Yes. I can thank my wonderful husband for that. I even outbid myself once there in the craziness of trying to win thatLong Con wrote:Wow, Splintsy. Wow.
Another good result. BIH Penn. Railroad Bye hedgie
boo, is there any way we can know who else is being replaced still?
I'm thinking maybe Ash. or SD
I'm open to discussion on this, but at this point it's the best solution I can come up with.
In the short-term though, my preference would be to not name the people who want to be replaced since in my hosting view, a person isn't out of the game until their actually out of the game, and discussing things like who wants to be replaced changes how people may play things, which is a level of influence I prefer to avoid (although given this scenario I suppose that's kind of a lose/lose situation going on).

PMs for the powers will start going out soon. The 5 votes is slightly harder because order they came in matters with later ones at the same amount not trumping previous ones. I think I have it correct but I want to double check first.

Re: Monopoly Mafia [Day 4]
Day 4 End/Night 4 Start: Lynch and Hedgeowl
“Snake eyes, bitches!”
*voters roll eyes*
Hedgeowl gets upset and demands money from everyone.
The game descends into anarchy.
Someone flips over the board.
It gets blamed on Hedgeowl and the mob kills her.
Hedgeowl has been lynched. She was Pennsylvania Railroad. Thanks for playing hedgeowl!
It is now Night 4.
You have 22 hours to get PMs in.
Pennsylvania Railroad, Short Line, and Park Place are now all up for auction. They all start at $1, bids must increase by $1 from the previous bid (hedgeowl voters get +$200 to any bid they make).
We are still in need of replacements. If anyone is interested please PM me.

Re: Monopoly Mafia [Night 3]
Night 3 End/Day 4 Start: Seven
Hedgeowl: Wait, I thought all you did was kill innocent people.
B. & O. Railroad: Innocent? Is that supposed to be funny? An obese man... a disgusting man who could barely stand up; a man who if you saw him on the street, you'd point him out to your friends so that they could join you in mocking him; a man, who if you saw him while you were eating, you wouldn't be able to finish your meal. After him, I picked the lawyer and I know you both must have been secretly thanking me for that one. This is a man who dedicated his life to punishing people who make money by lying with every breath that they can muster to keeping murderers and rapists on the streets.
Hedgeowl: Murderers?
B. & O. Railroad: A woman...
Hedgeowl: Murderers, B. & O., like yourself?
B. & O. Railroad: [interrupts] A woman... so ugly on the inside she couldn't bear to go on living if she couldn't be beautiful on the outside. A drug dealer, a drug dealing pederast, actually! And let's not forget the disease-spreading whore! Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face. But that's the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it's common, it's trivial. We tolerate it morning, noon, and night. Well, not anymore. I'm setting the example. What I've done is going to be puzzled over and studied and followed... forever.
And then there’s a box that makes Hedgeowl angry and they fight. And B. & O., losing, manages to run away.
No one has been killed.
It is now Day 4. You have 48 hours to lynch someone.

Powers for auction:
1st) Risky Investment (Allows the player who uses it to invest any amount of money they want. At the end of each Day+Night phase, they will either lose the invested money (5% chance, +2% after each successful return), or get 7%-20% of the invested money. Cannot withdraw the invested money unless they’ve been returned an equal or greater amount of the original investment). - Starts at $100
2nd) 5 Votes (5 votes you send in via PM. Do not all have to be used in the same lynch. When this power is auctioned, 3 are available, 3 highest bids each get 1). - Start at $75. Please note, you can only get 1 of the 3, they are three different auctions, just the 3 highest different players each get 1.
3rd) Lock In (Allows the player who uses this power to make all votes cast in a lynch unable to be moved in two lynches of their choice. Other players will not know this power has been used until voting. Players who vote and then realize it can tell the rest of the thread, but the player who plays this power then gets $100 from the person who states it in the thread and $10 per vote on the person who gets lynched in that lynch from the bank) - Starts at $200
4th) Deflect (Deflect all night actions done to a player of your choice to another player at random, if you spent less than $200 on the the power, or to a player of your choice if you spent $201 or more on the power) - Starts at $50
5th) Epigfier (If you obtain this role, you may force one player to not use the letter S for a single day period. If they break the rule once, they are warned. If they break it a second time, they lose any vote (including modification) for that day period. Any additional infraction will result in a loss of $50 per post that will be rewarded to the Epigfier) - Starts at $50
6th) Mutually Assured Survival/Destruction (This power lets you and all current BTSC teammates combine all of your current and future money into a single amount when used. If combined you ever fall below $0, you all die) - Starts at $100
7th) Rob a player (Allows the player who uses it to attempt to rob another player. They can get money, a power if the other player is holding one, or get sent to jail) - Starts at $10

So the second Electric is now an SK, essentially. @boo~ will we be told if a team is eliminated (even by NK) and what happens to the kill if it is eliminated? This is pretty standard stuff, but we have some unusual mechanics, and a two person baddie team, so it can't hurt to ask.
And Metalmarsh, this also got my eye from you~ you said it while I was dead, and at the time I was surprised when no one really noticed it. I had forgotten it until I saw it again in a multiquote:
What LC said here was addressed to baddies, and you replied to it. Day 2 End/Night 2 Start: Why So Socialist?
FZ: Targeting me might get their money back. I knew the lynch mob wouldn't go down without a fight, but this is different. They crossed the line.
FZ’s Butler: You crossed the line first, madam. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation, they turned into mob.
FZ: Ugh, the mob is so complicated, not-Alfred. How will I figure out what their after?
FZ’s Butler: With respect Master FZ, perhaps this is a mob that you don't fully understand, either. A long time ago, I was in Burma. My friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to spread the wealth by giving tribal leaders precious stones to share with their communities. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a group of bankers. So, we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never met anybody who traded with them. One day, I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bankers came over, yelled at the child, took the ruby back, and ran away.
FZ: So why steal them, if not to spread the wealth?
FZ’s Butler: Well, because they were greedy. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like giving others precious gems. They can be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just don’t want to watch the world burn.
FZ has been lynched. She was Atlantic Avenue. Thanks for playing!
It is now Night 2. You have 24 hours to get PMs in.
Atlantic Avenue is up for auction. Bidding starts at $1 and new bid must increase by at least $1. If you voted for FZ, you get $200 added to your bid.

Re: Monopoly Mafia [Day 2]
Yes, in the sense that to increase value BTSC or owning is needed. If one utility dies and the other utility keeps the property or gets it back at some point after, owning it would be enough to have it at x10 the roll (would show up as x4 if they won it straight after the lynch as is the case with the RRs). Since the board movements occur before night actions, last night was $25, and if SVS did have the card and PR did take it after killing her, that value increases to $50 for PR and SL going forward, even if there is no BTSC with other RRs.birdwithteeth11 wrote:That is indeed possible. With the utilities though, they already know half a dozen roles. So it makes me wonder if any of that will factor into their decision too.FZ. wrote:I did think about the option that the baddies would try and NK those who have the most money.Long Con wrote:Yeah... by my spreadsheet, Electric Company is up $480. Great, they get $240 for 3 people stepping on...
Epig seems to be down the most, at -$500, from his big bid on the Chance card (will you let us know when you use it, Ep? Are you using it yourself or someone else? Is it Chance or Community Chest that can send you Directly To Jail? That would be funny.) Then Hedgeowl seems to be down $375, which I believe was the price she paid for the Windfall.
Ha, I just thought of another reason Epig could give for the early big bid. Maybe the baddies will consider him 'closer to bankruptcy' and avoid wasting their nightkill on a player that is so much closer to death.
I would guess the answer is no, since they don't have BTSC yet. The utilities do, and they're collecting 10 times the amount that someone rolls to land on one of their spots (IIRC, in Monopoly, it's only 4 times if you own one of them). But I'm going to ask just to make sure.juliets wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong but can't we at least assume Pennsylvania is getting $50 because they own the Short Line?Long Con wrote:So those payments to Pennsylvania RR are indeed $25 each. It's worth noting, though, TH, that boo will display the payments as $25 even if they are more, so as to hide the Railroads' actual current earning power.
@Boo: Is my example the case, or not?
Also, LC, what exactly is your case against Epig? Do you think he's bad, or is it that you don't agree with TH's early read of Epig? Sorry if I'm making you repeat yourself, but I might have missed your reasoning somewhere.

Re: Monopoly Mafia [Day 2]
No. Well unless they got the card of the dead person, they'd be left default winning with other civs at that point. I'm not sure I follow on knowing if they need to bid on a card, they decide that and then either do it or don't. They'd still send in PMs unless something happened that confirmed their teammate had died (the person with that card offering to sell it for example), just nothing would happen as a result of those searches.FZ. wrote:And another question, Boo:
When a civ is NK, do the rest of the set know that one of their set is gone? I'm assuming not because then they'd bid on it, but how do they know if they need to win with the other civs or get rid of everyone else when they get their set? Or how do they know if they need to bid for a property card or need to send a PM to search the other part/s of their set?

Re: Monopoly Mafia [Day 2]
It gets taken off the for auction and gets put up for sale at its board stated value, if someone wants to buy it they can state it in thread (I'll take PMs on that one as well) and then other people get 30 minutes to give an increased offer to get it instead. If that doesn't happen the first gets it, or it goes back and forth until 30 minutes pass without a higher offer.FZ. wrote:Asking again:
What happens if no one bids on a property?
Because if we decide we don't bid and baddies do, we know they're baddies, and if they're too scared to bid on them too, they don't get them?

3 players landed on Pennsylvania RR last night, and only had to pay $25 each.
Does that mean that the Pennsylvania RR does not own any other railroads? The assumption being that SVS won the bidding on the Short Line and that Penn RR confiscated it after killing her.
@boo: What is the order of operations for night actions? Was SVS killed and then we all moved around the board, or did everybody move and then SVS died?
But yes, SVS (and anyone who gets NKed in the future) still moves and is considered alive at the time of movement (so payments and what have you still happen from that person).

Board movements
Powers available for bidding:
1st) Send a player to jail (Allows the player who uses it to send 1 player of their choice to jail) - $50 start
2nd) Silent Auction (The player who gets this power can make three auctions of their choice done privately instead of publicly. They receive half of the winning bid in the first auction, a third of the winning bid in the second auction, and a quarter of the winning bid in the third auction. They may not place bids in the auctions they make private. In power auctions, the most expensive power sold is the one they get money for). $150 start
3rd) Protect (Can be used to protect a person of your choice at night if you pick during a day, and remove a person of your choice from being on the lynch poll if used at night) - $50 start

Re: Monopoly Mafia [Night 1]
They still search, the unless they get lynched is in reference to, for example, if the 3 remaining members found each other, they wouldn't keep sending in PMs since the 4th was lynched. They can't be NKed until all of the living members have BTSC.S~V~S wrote:@boo
Does this mean that they can no longer search? Or am I reading into it? If it DOES mean they do not continue to search, are they then not able to be NKed permanently?Team 1: Railroads (4)
Each night, every member of this team searches for another member of the team. If they find anyone on their team, they get BTSC. Searching continues until all 4 find each other, unless any of them get lynched. None of the 4 can be nightkilled until all living members have BTSC. They kill odd nights, with the kill randomly being assigned to one member each night, until they all have BTSC, at which point it will specifically be assigned to one member.
I looked over the rent list for B & O, and the rails get double the rent of owning 3 rails for owning all 4 http://monopoly.wikia.com/wiki/B._%26_O._Railroad (assuming they can collect by owning the 4th card when the 4th member is dead? boo??). So, keeping it out of the hands of the other rails can't hurt.zeek wrote:Cya Made Why is anyone bidding on his card? It's hardly useful, is it?
$250
Yes, Railroads work by increasing in value for each one you have ($25 if you have one doubles to $50 for 2, $100 for 3, $200 for 4). If one of them got it and none of them had BTSC, they would get $50 per instead of $25 (with only the first $25 being listed if either property were landed on so as not to out them). Works similarly for civvies, owning the property of the one you start with in the event a teammate dies lets you get double rent if both/all 3 are together and build on them when you want (the doubling not showing up again to keep from outting you, if one of them was purchased in a post lynch and not traded. If it traded hands it would show up, but that's also the case for the railroads). And to be clear, the trading/selling of properties is all anonymous unlike the bidding. Say player 1 gets Short Line at the end of this bid, and then decides they want to turn around and sell it, they can do that ask another auction, setting whatever minimum bid they like, or just request offers, or if another player wants to ever put an offer on it, they PM me what they'll pay/trade/some combination (specifying what property your after rather than which player you think has it is fine), I PM that to Player 1, etc. It gives some creative work-arounds for trading properties to keep things from being obvious if you're so inclined.
More than you asked, but some things I think should be out there since it'd probably come up later anyways.

Night 1 Event: I have a list of 24 powers currently (there are some more that are locked up because I'm RNGing everything and don't want them to be able to get listed yet). You may PM a power description you think is one of the 24 that is not 1 of the three already confirmed (or protect/roleblock), and if you're right, you will get 1 extra vote you may send in during any lynch. If you submit one that is not on the list but I like enough to put onto the list, you get 2 any time votes.
