Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Just a heads up, the we_universal style may conflict with (at least) multiquotes in some browsers. I'll leave it turned on for now, but if you prefer a lighter style over the default black, prosilver or prosilver SE should both have the same functionality as dark with the various extensions, so may be a better choice for a stable experience with the site

I tested one and it wasn't working as expected. The only other ones I can find are out of date, or too up to date, or there isn't a working download.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
I've been looking since I saw that on MU, but nothing so far. There are site-wide notes available (top menu drop down, above board index), but that just isn't the same.
It should, yea. Just a weird current quirk of the extension. It isn't a finished one though, and AFAIK, the author is going to make that change themself, so I'm waiting for it instead of digging into looking to do that myself.Long Con wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:44 am Ok, I've got one. When I use the new multiquote feature, it works like a dream, BUT, after I hit "Quote (5)" or whatever, and make my long post, the "Reply with selected quotes" popup still appears. Ideally, it should disappear after the button is pushed, right? I have to press the trash can icon to get rid of it.
And another "out there" idea that may have been discussed before already... a simple Like button for posts?
I haven't seen anyone discuss wanting a like button before, but yes, that I can do. The one I've seen and would add currently doesn't have a functioning link to access the download, but there's a few others that might work, so I'll add one now and we can test it out.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Yea, it's just because phpbb styles are all required to be responsive now. The exact nature of how that will display on mobile/tablet will depend on the device, and can change based on updates they get. If I remove the coding that makes the style responsive, it would break the extensions that are used, as those all rely on being part of a responsive style. So no great way I can think of to change it.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
That's been changed, so it's a textbox that lets people put in what they want rather then having presets to choose from. It did require deleting what was there, so everyone will need to go into their profile and change it.

Oh wow, congrats!M Plus 7 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 6:04 am As... someone who's recently come out, I'm realizing that perhaps our gender / pronouns options here while at least better than they could be are... certainly less than ideal.
Would it be possible to change the gender section to something open-ended, or perhaps provide a much more exhaustive list of options similar to the ones available on MU? One thing that might be particularly helpful is a combination option, like she/her + they/them.
Thanks!
I can look into that. I believe making it so those are blanks people can enter their own answers into rather than a drop-down selection should be doable.

Besides the mention tags? More up-to-date versions of: header banner, post numbers, who posted that, and... one more I can't recall off the top of my head. I can't imagine any of those resulted in any changes that should be overly noticeable, it's mostly just future-proofing so they'll still work when the phpbb version is updated.Sloonei wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 8:49 pmWhat else did you clean up today?boo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 7:26 pm That's everything updated correctly now. Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
There's a few that do. Plus a few other changes I'm going to try. So there will be some blips with features not being there/not working as expected and possibly a full-on outage of the site briefly, all over the next few hours. Might as well get it all done in one go. Everything should be working as expected for about another hour or two, I have to finish up some stuff I'm currently working on, and then I'll do site stuff.

It should now be auto-setting the width correctly. The extension that let people adjust width had to be disabled, as it interferes with things working correctly.

Yea, that was me. Editing CSS to fix the width problem properly so it can auto-size itself. Black is just a finnicky theme that doesn't want to do it easily.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Okay. I also noticed it can get confused when posts are piling up. I think it's probably a result of my using opening a quote in a different tab and posting it, which sees all the posts, which confuses it on what my account has and has not read. But it works okay for the most part.

nutella mentioned the same problem on an Android (and a couple people on iPhones did to):
Are my other current thoughts for solutions to try.boo wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 5:43 pm I'm not sure then. Turn it off and on again? Actually...
A few more options:
1) You could try deleting cookies/site data and cached files. I don't think that'll fix it, but you probably haven't done it in a year or more and you should be doing it at least once every couple months. Please stop abusing your devices.
2) You could switch to viewing the site on the desktop version (I dunno if iPhones have that option, but on an Android in Chrome, in your menu it'll be an option you can tick on and off). Not a great option because it'll maintain that between sites... although it shouldn't between tabs, so you could always keep a dedicated syndicate tab I guess?

That's good. Only thing I can think of that might cause it is if a poll was deleted and a new one was made that would take you to the first page. Otherwise on standard settings nothing should do that.dunya wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 10:59 amnvm, this is working on my laptop now...very weird. didn't test it out on my phone since, but ill do that later lol.dunya wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 6:38 ami don't and it did that on both mobile and pc for me. i only use chrome.

Auto refresh is now live. If you're in a topic, on the last page of it, and there are new posts, a bar underneath the full editor & preview will have 'x number of new posts'. Clicking on that will refresh the page and bring you to the first unread post.
It's currently set to update once every 30 seconds.

Okay, in that case yes, iPhone's must just auto-remove that part of the HTML to better fit the screen. That isn't something I can think of how we could change on our end.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Yea, I installed that hoping it would give you an iso option on mobile.Sloonei wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 3:24 pm I like the new "posts in topic" counter, which also seems to effectively be a second ISO link.
... which also doesn't display on mobile for iphone users. I'm assuming the problem is with the iphone and not the website if android users don't have this problem.
I just clicked on it, the link in the "posts in topic" counter displays a person's post history in reverse order, while the old ISO link displays them in standard order. That's not really a problem, I'm just pointing it out.
If it's showing on Android for Turnip and I both fine (I'm assuming you're using chrome on it as well Turnip Head?), and not on iPhone (using Safari or on a different browser Sloonei and JaggedJimmyJay?) I would guess it's something with that. I'd expect the browser over the device to be the issue, but it wouldn't be the weirdest thing I've seen an iPhone manage to do, so hard to say.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Well, I'm still not clear on where the Isolate Posts by user bit is coming from (there's no extension installed that should be doing it. My guess right now is that it used to be a mod we had installed before phpbb switched from mods to extensions, and somehow it stayed implemented). But now there's also "Post in Topic: x" at the top of user information stuff beside their post, does that work on your phone Sloonei?

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
ISO will show up if you go landscape instead of portrait.
I'm not sure about linki posts. I would guess it can be solved the same way though (that seems to solve a lot of mobile issues).
A problem solving either of those in a better way though is that, from what I can tell, those are both just features of phpbb now, not something we have extensions running to do.

Forums can now be collapsed:
Use the plus/minus icon to collapse or bring back up a sub-forum you do or do not want to see.
It works in both the prosilver and black themes that are available.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
That would be doable. I would've assumed letting each user set things up how they wanted was an option, but it looks like that's overly limited to just the admin control panel, so that wouldn't work. But I agree it's overly large, so a discussion about ways of minimizing things that aren't needed all the time would probably be a good idea.Turnip Head wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 12:56 pm Home page takes forever to scroll through and looks bloated. Any way to clean it up a little? Maybe just one subforum for sign-ups?
My suggestions, in addition to what you said about one signup subforum (it's a good idea):
1) Job subforums that don't have an active game can be moved/hidden so they aren't showing up, and only be brought out when a game is actually being played.
2) Make game submissions, hideout, hall of fame, and museum all subbed into one (so you click through and then see all 4, rather than having all 4 at all times on the front)
3) If possible (I'd assume it should be via extension, but I haven't looked yet) make the non-mafia games and off topic hidden by default, and those headers have to be clicked on to expand them (and then would be viewed as they currently exist). If that isn't something that can be done, like with 2), just make those each sub-forums, and then everything within them sub-sub-forums.
I don't know that it would all be necessary (on mobile it would make things less painful, so I suppose it depends if people are predominantly on computer/tablet or on phones), but doing some of it should tidy stuff up.
