Could that be the final 5? Or would it make sense for there to be 2 cylon mafia groupings?
I don't know if a two-team mafia is possible in this game, based on show context, but I'm leaning on doubting that. The Final Five in the show split into four cylons that continued to help the human race and 1 Cylon that embraced being a Cylon against humans. That's hardly probable material for a second mafia team, to bloom out of nowhere, at least imo.
I appreciate this Final 5 talk. 4:1 ratio is pretty good.

Ricochet wrote:Then again, I see that indiglo didn't have a problem with MetalMarsh89 jumping to E3?

Indi, can you clarify, when you read this, if MM's E3 check was part of a pattern established earlier or random do-what-I-want tier?
It was Marmot choosing a random square, iirc. By that time, we had discussed so many options, and no one wanted to only stick with the straight checkerboarding, for fear that was a manipulation. So my thinking was we'd come to a consensus on another pattern - like diagonals, for example. Marmot stuck to the original checkerboard pattern, just did a rando sector on it.

It didn't feel like dicking around to me, so I'm cool with it. Did it bother you? Do you think it would be better for us to stick to a definite pattern? (Such as diagonals along the checkerboard?)

Didn't Golden already say that the stories weren't to be taken at face value

LC: If you would have been online in time, would you have offered the next scheduled spot or picked one of your own?
The only way I would have done either of those things would be if I were convinced that neither Metalmarsh nor anyone else was there to do it on time... and I would have done the next scheduled square.

So, Metalmarsh went off the schedule and voted for E3 without notice. Indiglo, Scotty, Ricochet, sig, I am interested to know what you think of that, since the four of you lost your cool a little when I went off the expected plan.

Thank you early bird S~V~S for hitting up that 5:49am timeslot so awesomely. Who is up for 11:49, in exactly two and a half hours?
How I feel about Marmot's square choice should be patently obvious, after I told him "BOSS SORTIE SENDING MARMOT". It was awesome, and I loved his reasoning for choosing that sector. He was scheduled to cover a sortie, and he covered it perfectly.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day Two

Replying as I catch up...

@ LoRab, Re Final 5 - I'd love for others who watch the show to chime in with their thoughts too on this. My stance on the Final 5 is this: In the show (I'll try to avoid spoilers as best I can) there were some humans who were high ranking, well trusted members of the human race. Some had worked together for decades, and were basically family, after being through so much together. Some of these beloved humans later find out they were Cylons. IIRC, none of them betrayed the human race or cause. (That one I'll have to review, but I'm pretty sure that is true.) They each had a decision to make, though. Fight with the bad Cylons, or fight with their human comrades. They chose to fight with their human comrades.

So my guess is that those humans who will become the Final 5 in this game (which I'm guessing may be an event triggered by something that happens in thread?) will also have a choice. They may be able to decide to join the bad Cylons, or stick with the humans.

I want to read more on the wiki when I have time, just to remind me of some of the nuances. As Rico said, as the show progressed it became extremely nuanced, and became much harder to label everyone bad or good. Though some of the Cylons remained evil throughout. At one point, there was heated disagreement between the Cylons themselves as to what direction to take, as well.

@ SVS

Your mission this morning, should you choose to accept it is to send Kat and Hot Dog on a sortie at 5:49am EST. If you choose to continue our original checkerboard pattern, go with sector B2.

You also have many other sector options. Take a look at the grid below, you may choose a random sector that tickles or fancy, or start a diagonal off one of the other blue sectors.

I think her personal feelings have just gotten the best of her and she's reacting based on that.

For what it's worth, I believe you to be for the townie cause, regardless of your cylon role.

I think Ika and LC have BTSC based on a few comments that have been made. My vote tomorrow will be for one of them. Most likely Ika because at this point I'm just tired of reading page after page of the same thing.
Interesting. I'd be interested in hearing what those few comments are, if you have the time and are so inclined.

I like where your head is at on the ika/SW thing too. It's almost reminiscent of Turf Wars, where that very thing was true. (ika baddie, SW civ) Though, it's hard for me to sift through all the (what I consider "crazy") to see actual things. If that makes any sense.

Hopefully my thoughts on Epi are clear at this point. I have avoided mentioning them again due to obvious thread craziness, and so as not to trigger more carbon copy posts. I'm not concerned with lynching him. I'd prefer to look elsewhere so we can info gather as we explore for Rezz Ships. There are other Cylon roles that are more important to eliminate, imo.

Ok, popping off again.

@ ika - for the 3rd time. I did not miss my time. If you read the thread, you will see I was watching the clock, waiting for it. It was typed out in another tab, ready to go. (Along with a boss Captain Picard reference, btw)

I'm not dominating anything. If any player has a problem with the way I'm organizing the sorties (besides you), they are welcome to take over. I'm not in charge of them, just organizing them. Any one person dominating the sorties is bad. Which is why we are changing up the original checkerboard plan.

I am going to hope that any reasonable player coming through and reading all this will see things for what they are.

well we have a divide on people who want to do "LOL RANDOM" vs "EVERY OTHER"

so like i said already, if people are here i will let them take their turn, otherwise im going to post
So why did you post the D5 when you did? That turn had already been taken stolen by LC. The problem with your idea is that, you may come on, there may be 10 pages of posts you don't have time to catch up on before posting a sortie. In those 10 missed pages, the assigned person may have already posted their sortie, and then you come in and do another "D5" post.

Does that make sense? The schedule of volunteers is intended to prevent that, and to also make sure each player is accountable for either making, or missing, their own sortie.

You are wrong though. I had my sortie all typed out in another tab, watching the clock and ready to hit "submit". I was about to do it, but refreshed my game thread tab just before posting it, and low and behold you had ninja'd me.

Here's the thing. You, nor ika, know everything about every other player. You say it looked to you like the sortie would have been missed. But that's not true. I was posting in the thread things like "8 minutes till my sortie", "6 minutes till my sortie". So you are wrong. I don't know if you are lying, or just missed all those posts of mine. But you are wrong.

Also, ika just posted a random sortie at a non-sortie time. So what good will that do? The time table is of utmost importance, I keep saying that. Are you being intentionally obtuse here or what?

Spreading the sorties around give us opportunities for more reads on more players. And the way those players react to our teamwork will say a lot, in my opinion.

Look. It is important we spread this around. It will give us a good chance to get some reads on other players. Seeing if they show up, if they do it as asked, etc. No single person is in charge of the sorties, nor should they be.

The last sortie you posted wasn't even on the time schedule, LC already has these 6 hours covered. So it was invalid. (At best, I'm hoping it doesn't cause any negative side effects.)

Be difficult about it if you want to, but I want to make it abundantly clear that you are, indeed, being knowingly difficult and uncooperative.

Correct. And we're still awaiting confirmation if LC's rando pick counts as well
Right.

I honestly don't think we need to wait for confirmation before doing the next sortie, but I don't have any real facts other than what Goldama said. He didn't say anything about waiting for confirmation, just every 6 hours. I do prefer to hear from him on that, but we have another 5 hours or so until our next sortie is up.

Long Con does bring up a good point, or at least he did earlier. Do we know how many spaces the ship takes up? Why not move down and diagonal to cover more ground?
Literally suggested that. To which LC agreed!
I also agreed to this. As I have been saying multiple times, when YOUR TURN COMES UP feel free to deviate from the planned sectors. I have zero problem with that. But to avoid any problems with this:
Golden wrote: Any person may authorise a mission, noting the 'one every six hours limit'.
It is far more important we stick to the time table, rather than the planned sectors.

LC, please don't jump in again without being a volunteer. My concern is that if we screw up the "one every six hours limit" we may be frakked. If you come in, stealing people's scheduled time slots, we may screw that up, because they may not see that you've stolen it if they aren't caught up. Please don't skim, and then come in and screw with a well thought out plan.

I don't care what sector anyone wants to pick. I have said this multiple times. Please just let's stick to the assigned time slots. This is not difficult. Let's work together.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day One

@ Rico, oh, I forgot to mention, it is past time. LC literally posted at exactly 11:49 am EST. So, I'm pretty sure his call will go through, unless we have to wait for confirmation of a sector before moving on. But the 5:49 am time did not wait for confirmation on previous sector to go ahead and call in, so that may give us our answer. Now that I think about it, I don't think we should wait for confirmation before calling a new one, because why would Goldama want to come here every 6 hours for the rest of the game?

Actually, this goes for anyone really. I'm not "in charge" of the sorties, I'm just keeping a record. So anyone, if you feel it prudent to change our plan, please feel free to do so. Just make it ultra clear in the thread (especially for our early morning pilots, they are still sleepy). I'm open to beginning a diagonal, or switching to random too.

@ Epi - No worries, I put the Marmot there before I saw your post anyway. But, thank you. Also, nuts to overthinking. Oh well, it was a good idea, right?

@ SW - No worries again on possibly missing your sortie. Thank you for finding an adequate replacement if need be.

I've got 8 minutes to kill before the next sortie. Oh, also a thought, if we do get a hit, do you all think we should then search the square around the hit, to make sure we got the whole thing? In case the ship covers multiple squares? I had forgotten to mention that earlier because my brain was going a mile a minute and I don't have enough fingers to keep up.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Mafia - Day One

Ok, moving on to sorties for the moment. I like the idea of changing up the pattern. In fact, this was a question I came up with for Goldama, after he wouldn't answer my "do rezz ships move as we hunt them?" question.

@Admiral Goldama - IF Rezz Ships could move as we search for them… Would it be the actual Cylon roles moving the ship? Or would they be random movements? (I ask because I’m wondering if broadcasting our schedule is a bad idea for Cylons to see, or not.)

With that thought in mind, I am definitely up for switching up our plan, or not scheduling the sectors at all, after getting more input. So really, totally up to the group, if more are in favor of dropping our checkerboard pattern and going diagonally, or just randomly, that's cool. For the moment, I'll leave the sector assignments on the schedule, but if each player thinks it prudent, you may change your sector assignment - first just make sure the sector you want to search has not previously been searched. Cool? Cool.

Well I didn't expect Epi to flip as mafia, and he might not have? I think it is possibly, I think setting up lynches like that is something mafia members would do, but I guess we will see if JJJ goes after MM know. JJJ answer though is very odd, I'll be keeping my eye on him. I also notice he gave an excuse for why he wouldn't be super town this game, could he have done this as mafia to avoid suspicion?

I agree. Something is feeling way off with JJJ to me as well this game. He's not as careful, or detail oriented.

My first experience with him was as Prisoner 509 in Turf Wars, but he was a bastion of accuracy, detail and context. Here he is... none of those things.

I'm not saying she's bad, but I am saying I feel that she knows more than she's letting on.

You guys read that Kat and Kit or whatever his name is can
die
right? We don't know anything about the odds of them dying, or really anything cornering anything. What if they both die? Then no one with the right expertise can destroy the ship. Or not. I dunno. So to just rush in naming quadrants because it's there doesn't seem like the most prudent course of action. It's like branding your face on a waffle iron because you can't afford a professional tattoo, and Mike Tyson did it.

If anyone has any information concerning this Battleship setup, I would suggest coming out with it sooner rather than later.

1 - I had no idea I would trigger these sorties by mentioning the Rezz Ship. I am a HUGE fan of this show though, so when people were standing around scratching their heads (due to not knowing the show) explaining things seemed like a no-brainer. It was indeed extremely convenient and good timing to trigger this though. As it does seem like the main way we'll be able to defeat Cylons. Can you imagine what would have happened if we only triggered it on day 5, after much frustration? I walked into it by accident, but boy was it a good thing.

2 - As I mentioned to sig, upon re-reading Goldama's post about the sorties, Kat and Hot Dog will ONLY be in danger IF they find the Rezz Ship and destroy it. And we MUST do that, imo. So we aren't just sending them off to their certain doom. (And in the show, they would have both gone anyway, certain doom or not. All viper pilots are badasses.)

3 - Yes, agreed. Anyone with any additional knowledge, please spill it. Or if you can't just spill it, give us a hint how we can help you spill it.

Replying as I catch up. No that is not the plan. We are going through all the sectors in a checkerboard pattern. Since this event has NO END, all sectors will eventually be checked. Checkerboard just seemed like an efficient way to cover plenty of ground. Other ideas are obviously going to be willingly looked at, we just needed to get this thing going last night in an organized fashion, so here we are.
