@ SD - We wanted to win with you guys so bad! lol Yeah, that weird vote was due to my misreading you. :haha: You noble civ, you! :fist:

Let me say to everyone - I had a blast! This was my first mafia game in probably 2 years or more - I loved it, and thanks Enrique for hosting!

Ekeknat, I am truly sorry. You have a great analytical mind! I really was confused about that Typh stuff for a long time, but when I finally put it together, it was a genius connect the dots.

Re: [DAY 9] Mafia of Montreal: A Variety of Whimsical Murder

Partly not being certain who was which civ... and partly due to Dana... had she come in she could have tied the vote up and that could have been bad for us. Partly Zebra had been dogging on LC so long it may have looked shadier not to vote for him.

And partly I seriously thought I had gotten the vibe off SD that she was down for a dual win... so I thought we might get help from her, thusly saving LC. But she wasn't down for that until today I guess. I can't wait to hear what she has to say!!

At the moment, I think yes. However, to be fair, I chose to do his re-read first because he has about 1/4 the posts you have. :haha:

It's more daunting, but I do think it's time to start re-reading you. Well now, I'm actually going to do a re-read analysis of ekeknat's final posts. I want to see in more detail what he said about you.

And this is all assuming I'm right about SD. But, since nobody else is looking at her... I'm assuming my assumptions are right. (This sentence brought to you by our word of the day - ASSUME)

Re: [DAY 9] Mafia of Montreal: A Variety of Whimsical Murder

Ok, and this one is the clincher for me. After spending the entire game, from night 0 to day 6 defending LC, not seeing a case on LC, and looking at people who voted for LC... ekeknat posts some confusing as shit stuff in the thread (no offense ekeknat, I know you had to be delicate)... and DF suddenly just lets go of all that defending, etc with nary a word, and votes LC. I really think LC told him to vote him, because he was going to likely be lynched due to the info, and if DF kept on defending him it was going to look worse than it already did.

Day 8
DFaraday wrote:Well, since I'm not, maybe they were. :shrug2:

I really haven't been able to get a feel for what everyone's alignment is, but I feel like Ekeknat might have been onto something, so I'll go ahead and *vote LC*

Day 4
DFaraday wrote:Since I pretty much talked myself out of suspecting the LC voters I previously had on my list, I'll just go ahead and vote Made since there is a chance that insanity business could make him bad.

I have no strong feelings about LC or BR, but I lean civ slightly more on LC. I don't want to vote DP since he hasn't done anything to warrant suspicion.
I wonder if LC told DF in BTSC chat to let go of that suspicion of LC voters because it was looking strange. He did still manage to fit in a subtle defense of LC though.

Day 6
DFaraday wrote:Because the end times are awkwardly right in the middle of my day, I won't be around for the rest of it. I'll go ahead and vote BR, since I find her more suspicious. I haven't really seen much of a case on LC. :shrug2:
Granted, the BR vote was a good one, but the GP team would be ok with that lynch too, because it didn't hurt them. Also notice more subtle defense of LC.

Then, Day 2 posts:

Day 2
DFaraday wrote:I have the LC voters at the top of my list right now, except for SVS, who had a reason. I'll go over their posts and see what stands out.
DFaraday wrote:I am *voting Daisy* for her weak reason for voting LC. It was also the last vote on him, making it feel extra bandwagony.

I have no idea what's going on with Boulder/Skyloverguycat, but I feel like it's probably unrelated to their alignment.

DFaraday wrote:We can't really assume that since there are two baddie teams. But either way, I read the LC voters (besides SVS) and finding a convenient place to stick their votes without having to make a case on their own. It's what I'd have done as a baddie. :shrug2:

More subtle defense of LC, and continued "looking at" those who voted him. He said he was going to go over posts, but I don't know if he did, he never posted anything more on that topic, just his vote for SD.

Re: [DAY 9] Mafia of Montreal: A Variety of Whimsical Murder

Well, I'm just working on finishing up a re-read of DF. I have noticed a pattern of a subtle defense of LC by DF from the very beginning. So, to start, we have this:

Night 1
DFaraday wrote:I'm so sorry I missed the vote, Enrique! I saw the end time when I wasn't logged in and thought I had two more hours. It won't happen again!

It seemes like the most obvious solution is that Scotty is a Repudiated Immortal. And even though I have nothing to support this idea, I suspect that Nutella is the other member and Scotty kept saying he suspected her so that people wouldn't draw a connection between them.

At the moment, I'm most suspicious of the people who voted LC for no particular reason (i.e., all of them).
DFaraday wrote: Eh, I think suspecting him for not recognizing your meta (which, as he pointed out, you can deliberately change) wasn't very convincing, although you did cite more reason than the other LC voters. And Boulders straight up saying he wanted to join the LC bandwagon made it look even weirder to me.

If Nutella is the other Immortal, she would know that Scotty wouldn't die on Day 1, so it makes sense to me that she'd throw him under the bus. Distancing when your teammate secretly isn't in any real danger seems like a clever move to me.

I wasn't playing at that point, but I gather there was a vote for LC. (I is so smart.) And that DF was then suspicious of those who voted LC "for no reason"...

Re: [DAY 9] Mafia of Montreal: A Variety of Whimsical Murder

You can think that my mistake was not honest, that is your right. And there is no way I can prove it to you until I'm either lynched or the game is over and my role is revealed. (And I can't wait for that to happen to prove that I am civ.) You can think that I have a convenient excuse, but I have not used this website in probably close to 2 years, and it is formatted differently from other sites I currently use more frequently. There have been multiple aspects I have had to relearn about using this site.

By trying using the arrows to scroll up and down (which I always do because using the touch pad on my laptop is a complete PITA), my vote marker moved without me realizing it. It's not a convenient excuse, it's the truth. I was rushing because it was nearly the end of the poll, my laptop battery was about to die, and I didn't want to miss the vote and die. It's that simple. I have explained myself clearly and honestly, and that is all I can do. Well that, and try to figure out who is the best person to vote for today.

Ok, for a little on topic talk before I take off for the evening and relax with the sweets.

Dana had a super weird voting record, for one thing. She voted people she thought were good more than once. I also noticed that she did not participate much (hence the modkill, I suppose finally) and when she did it was safe stuff. Like, she had a lot to say about the weirdness in the beginning with Boulders/SkyGuy/and maybe someone else? (It was before I replaced in for skydude.) Like, she knew her sh!t on that stuff... but then really didn't have much of substance to say until ekeknat started posting a bunch of info in the thread that he had figured out through his role and the Typh lynch. At that point she was basically just agreeing with ekeknat. (Which seemed weird to me because I found it all super confusing - unless I'm either dense or rusty. :p )

Is she new to mafia? Or she is a more experienced player? To me that could easily be a nub baddie. So yeah, I think there's a good chance she was a GP baddie. Looking at the death record, no GP baddies have been lynched. And Coque baddies only had 2 NKs - sig & SVS. Now I do believe SVS was civ, but sig was NKed so early I have no read on them. I don't really think he was GP baddie though, that would be some crazy luck.

So, assuming they didn't NK any of their own members (unless something weird happened with the ekeknat NK, but I'm thinking he was civ too once I figured out what he was saying - but of course I didn't want to spell it out any more clearly in the thread for obvious reasons)... I'm thinking their team was likely intact until today. When I think it is likely they lost 2 members at once.

This is when I wish I had Mata/Cyn/Dilly's mad spreadsheet skills, and not just a confused jumble of notes. I do hope this makes sense anyway. It does in my head. :haha: DUH!

@ekeknat - as far as "would a mafioso miss 2 votes as the game is winding down?" Well, as I stated during the BR lynch, I don't like to let WIFOM influence my thinking and decision making that much. I think anything could happen to anyone at any time, honestly. And I have seen many a baddie team sacrifice a member for the "greater good". Nearly anything can happen in a mafia game.

Re: [DAY 7] Mafia of Montreal: A Variety of Whimsical Murder

Here are a few thoughts after doing some re-reading.

Re: Made - Ok, recently DF and LC have mentioned Made seeming suspish for being insanified 2 times. I'm not sure I find that fact alone compelling enough to throw my vote there. I did notice that he was insanified on Day 3, and then did not post again at all until Day 5, at which time he was again insanified. After that, the only half-way substantial post he's made was about knowing Dana IRL, and that she seems civ in the game.

Is he a mafia nub? What does all this tell me? It's a weird posting record.

Re: LC - And while I don't think I saw whatever SD was talking about, I think I may have seen something different that puts a question mark for me there too.

If they are teammates, then it doesn't really matter to me which one of them goes... so maybe that will take some of the pressure off.

For those who have played with LC before, when he's baddie, how willing is he to throw a teammate under the bus?

@ekeknat - interesting observations there. I will give it some thought. Remember too though, different civs have different win conditions.

@BR - what are your thoughts on SVS's alignment?

I would very much like to understand what sprityo was saying. :confused2:

@sprityo, are you comfortable going into more detail about what you mean? I'm not seeing it. :puppy:

a2thezebra wrote: Why is everyone saying RIP S~V~S when her alignment wasn't revealed?

I know this wasn't directed specifically/personally at me, but I wanted to reply to it anyway. I said RIP SVS because I got a genuine civ read off her. That Day 0 (I think, or else Day 1) circling and defensiveness was exactly the thing that SVS and I have done in nearly every game where we're both civs trying to figure each other out. It genuinely read civ SVS to me. It just did.

And after my re-read of both SVS and BR I feel better about my vote. I see some roles that have the potential to be SVS's... and that makes me even more comfortable with my vote.

*Votes BR*

Sorry, I don't know you, it's nothing personal (I'm sure you know that), I just think you're a role we don't want around. :hugs:

From my (Civ) point of view, this was an easy and obvious way for the baddies to secure a frameup job. Of course you won't know that, because you're not me... but I know it.

Thanks! Now I do remember that. It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now. /meatloaf

And I 100% hear you, and understand what you're saying Re: frame job. My only issue is that something SVS said at least once just gave me a twinge that she may have had some inside info, and wanted to share it, without dumping.

Also, I feel like the WIFOM-iness could go even further (if you want to get real crazy)... like maybe a ballsy baddie team WOULD go ahead and do that, just because most peeps would expect them to NOT to do that, because it would seem too obvious. So then, they could do it to try to protect a member of the team. If that makes sense. Not that I'm saying I 100% believe that's what happened, just that I don't really like a WIFOM-y reasoning to overly influence my thinking. I think it's speculation at best, and too easy for baddies to manipulate at worst.

Hence all that why I want to do some reading. I'm on my way out the door currently, but wanted to share these thoughts ASAP to get some more input and conversation going. I may be missing something uber-obvious here, but I just got that "inside info twinge", and I think it's important to consider that. At least for me it is, due to my read on and past experience with SVS.
