Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Day 4]

Hotel wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2017 8:42 amIt's not me, unfortunately. Please don't throw away the game by voting me out.
I think technically speaking even if we mislynch today we won't lose the game unless there's two remaining baddies.

Which.... if Hotel isn't part of it then it would have to be a Golf+Delta pairing. If we can be sure that the mafia isn't Golf+Delta, then I think Hotel is our best option for today.

Idk, I'm open to input.

Well..... Not all signs as much as just the one sign. I looked back over Bravo's posts again and it eased my concerns. If Bravo is mafia then he's played an exceptionally good game.

Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Day 4]

The reason i don't think Delta is a solo remaining baddie is that the last kill that happened was generally relevant to the game. Charlie was reasonably cleared of suspicion and not likely to be mis-lynched. I still don't understand Foxtrot, but that's a different matter i guess, since at the point of Foxy's death there were (likely?) 2 mafia alive and at least one of them had read the whole thread.

If you asked me right now i would probably say that Hotel is our best chance at snagging a baddie, whether or not Juliet was mafia he still looks the least good based on PoE... the other alternative is... Delta and Golf I guess?

Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Day 4]

If there are 2 mafia left and delta is one of them, then there's a pretty good chance that the mafia's kill won't be sent in tonight.

I'd like to propose that we narrow down our lynch options to Hotel and Golf for this day phase.

i wanna point back at some thoughts i had back when we were considering Juliet as a lynch candidate

Alpha wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2017 12:28 am Gonna think out loud for a second.

Delta hasn't expressed any thoughts on Juliet, positive or negative. though to be fair they've only posted 3 times and only talked about echo, india, and foxtrot.

Golf voted for Juliet on day one, I don't see them being teammates. Without flips there's less incentive for distancing, so there'd be no reason to pull such a risky vote with things so close. i think that if Juliet is mafia then Golf probably isn't.

Hotel could be a potential 3rd teammate, assuming Juliets is mafia, early on hotel listed echo as a townread, later voted echo "because why not"

these are the posts where those things happened

I think hotel could be a reasonable pick for a mafia team member of Juliet and Echo. I also think that agreeing that 'this lynch seems too easy' and 'there's no opposition to it' is ironically a pretty good way to passively oppose it without being too obvious about it. i'm pretty sure the first 5 posts before and after the night post included the phrase 'we should lynch juliet' in some form. a player other than juliet themself starting a counter wagon would seem obvious and probably result in that players death soon after

i guess what i'm saying is that lack of resistance isn't necessarily a sign that juliet isn't mafia in this circumstance
in that post there^

i still think hotel is the most logical teammate to link to both Juliet and Echo. Golf voted for Juliet on day 1, which doesn't make sense as a teammate thing. I also want to point out that if Juliet and Echo were Mafia #1 & #2 then we probably wouldn't have had a kill last night, since Delta has been MIA. If we assume Juliet was mafia #2 then i think Hotel makes the most sense as mafia #3

I guess the next question is..... would Golf and Hotel make sense as teammates?

Who Watches the Watchmen: A Critical Look into Bravo's History

okay you know what? i was gonna do a larger more pointed post to go over all the data we've had again and see if i still come to the same conclusion as before but Bravo was still one of the first players to question Echo (aside from India) to question their motive behind Oracleclaiming. If we assume Juliet was a mafia as well, and with their acceptance of Echo's claim and strategy then this would put Bravo as being a wrench in his own team's apparent plan. Maybe he saw the plan as being really misguided and wanted to make sure to distance himself ahead of time?

i don't think Bravo is mafia. I'm also not mafia, and i think thread evidence will support that.

*if* there's 2 mafia left then what we have to do in the next 48 hours is decide which player between Hotel Golf and Delta is least likely to be mafia and then... don't vote for them. If the game doesn't end at that point then we vote for the other one with whoever is left on Day 5. If the game doesn't end then then we just lose I guess.

This assumes that everyone will actually vote, which is.... let's be realistic here, unlikely.

I believe that Hotel or Delta could be alright picks for the next lynch. Hotel seems like the most viable teammate for a mafia that includes both Juliet and Echo. Delta basically..... Can't be connected or disconnected to or from anyone.

I still see ABC as a civvie block because of what happened with Echo and India. That leave Golf in a kind of awkward middle ground I guess.

Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Night 2]

well.... if it is, it at least half explains your agreement with echo's plan, but half unexplains it?

if you really didn't understand how the oracle works then that might have caused you to believe that Echo's bad fake plan was a good real plan. if you thought that the oracle was just a role that we could lynch at any time to have info flips for the rest of the game following that then revealing themselves would have been ideal and we should have voted to lynch Echo on the last day phase.

or if you had everything wrong but the "lynching the oracle does nothing" right then... even then the mafia would have even less reason to target the oracle. the better tactic would have still been to be super town and make themselves a target for the mafia naturally.

there was also a bunch of stuff written in india's posts that you rap-responded back to that should have contradicted your viewpoint of what the oracle did, and prompted you to go back and review the role.

In case I die tonight:

Juliets was suspiciously quick to not only accept that Echo was the real Oracle but also to practically praise Echo for their strategy which involved leveraging possibility of Oracle information in exchange for personal survival. In the light that Echo was a mafia member fake-claiming Oracle, this looks really bad. Juliet was also very quick to drop their suspicion of me and there was also some inconsistency there regarding their reasoning for suspecting me in the first place. The whole thing just felt kinda sketchy I guess. As of right now Juliet is my top scum read.

I've been personally done with the subject since the end of day 1. I brought it up in the first place because I didn't feel like the negativity had any purpose other than to make sprityo feel bad. I probably went a little over the top with hyperbole calling the behavior "whining", and I'm sorry for that, but it seemed like the thread was going down a bad path and I wasn't okay with that. I didn't like that players were saying they weren't going to care about the game or take it seriously because there weren't any flips. I also didn't like that it seemed to be bothering sprityo.

J, this is a really weird wagon for you to hitch your horse to considering you just claimed you weren't caught up yet.

People were acting like babies and complaining about how the game wasn't fair and wouldn't be able to keep their interest. It became this whole thing and Sprityo intervened and had everyone vote for whether or not future lynches would include flips.

I was upset that people were giving up so easily, and weren't willing to try out Sprityo's vision just cus it was unfamiliar to them. I was also unhappy that our only power role had apparently leveraged their role's utility (giving us information) in order to keep from getting killed, but that turned out to have been false.

I complained that the game might be hard but I never gave up, and I also didn't just stop posting for three days straight. I'm still here playing because I believe we can win this game, and even if we can't I'm going to have fun or die trying.

If Echo we're the real Oracle then it would have been impossible for us to have been given Oracle results listing him as the Disguiser, because the Oracle cannot self target... and even if they could the oracle's ability is separate from the Disguiser thing, there's no reason why the Disguiser would effect the oracle reveal... Right?

If India was the Disguiser and Echo was the real Oracle then this looks like a weird move. If that were the case then. This post would have been the disguiser telling us to lynch their future self right?

Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Day 2]

Are you saying that Echo was the Oracle and India was the disguiser?

Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Day 2]

They must have been worried that India was going to cause problems for their fake claim strategy and didn't think about the potential risks of hitting the real oracle.

i wonder if the disguiser role was going to factor in somehow? It's weird that the player who chose to fake-claim was the player they designated to have the disguiser role.

Re: Phenon: Origins Mafia [Day 2]

i don't understand why they chose to kill India. India didn't seem to buy Echo's claim. Echo was deliberately fake claiming so the mafia should have known there was a possibility that the real Oracle would be their strongest opposition.

India wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2017 11:11 am We could have waited for day two to pull that. Then the oracle would have a choice regarding who to reveal. How unfortunate.

And furthermore, since the oracle is vanilla so long as it lives, I would imagine that the bad guys would avoid killing it. And the good guys would avoid lynching it as well.

So, I don't really want to believe you, Echo. I wonder what your motive is. Bad guy, trying to avoid being lynched? Good guy, trying not to get lynched or killed? Or are you a genuine Oracle, though very short-sighted?
It's not short-sighted, it's a pretty, solid plan,
What would you have done if you were dealt that hand?
Do you have some thoughts on why he took this stand?
I think it's legit, and he/she's a cool little can.
I have stated the possible motives. I dare not put words in the mouth of Echo. Such would be ironic.

You ask what I, as Oracle, would have done? I could consider this to be role phishing. But I will answer regardless or your motive.
Oracle, should they desire to do well and be killed rather than lynched, should be as town-centric in action as possible. I believe the term is 'supah-town,' if you will forgive my use of non-words. The gambit that Echo has enacted is not ideal for a real Oracle.
In light of everything else, the Juliet post quoted by India here seems to be relevant.

If I should die tonight I will do so with only one regret; the regret that I failed to complete my most sacred mission.
