I'm perfectly fine with a Carmen lynch as well. I think it would be worthwhile for some of us to have a second candidate just in case something happens again. I would lean toward Laine most likely. The Gobnait vote and posting during the previous day made me crick my eyebrows a bit, so he /she might be someone worth looking at. However, I think Carmen should be the main focus for the following lynch.

I don't understand how you were here, but failed to notice we were in non-speaking mode.
I don't know how - my brain mustn't have computed it. Seeing Eurolyvn post and others saying who they are voting for also threw me off as I didn't realise until later that Euro was insanified (even though I did think it strange that Eurolyvn was talking about Jesus).

I'm not sure. I didn't think Carmen's apparent role hints were suspicious and I don't even think they were meant as role hints but now that I think about it, as I have said before in agreement with others, her not outright saying if they were/were not role hints is not civ behaviour. Then again, would she even be allowed to say if it was or was not without incurring the wrath of our hosts? If she was allowed to answer if they were/were not role hints and didn't straight away, then that is suspicious.

Regarding the Gobnait vote, I was unsure about Gobnait and Queran and after re-reading, I leaned more toward the case against Gobnait. I was clearly wrong to be persuaded by Queran's case as Gobnait turned up as being good and Queran was bad. Sorry about that again. I still feel like such a fool.

I was unsure of Carmen's role hints because I didn't think that they were role hints, it sounded to me like it was a bit of fun. But I've now realised that her not answering if they were/were not role hints is un-civ like behaviour. Damn! And if Gobnait is good, does that mean Queran is bad? I shouldn't have been so rash and will have to re-read their posts.

Not very much to be honest, it's more of a feeling based on their tone, but I find the fact that Dallon jumped into the thread immediately after his name was mentioned a little suspect, considering his lengthy absence before that.

Lyel's excuses have shifted over time, lacking a little in consistency (Although I hate to be too hard on him given how hard a time he seems to be having in RL.)

Grutfud has basically been MIA, missing votes and not saying anything, so he is the one I suspect least of the three right now, although I do think a good strategy for the baddies would be to switch lynches while remaining very quiet in order to throw suspicion on others.
Thanks Fane. I have been musing a bit on these three as well. There's just so little to go on. I agree that the timing of Dallon rejoining is pingy, but I think for now it's probably wisest to give him a chance to establish a thread presence while looking at candidates I have a better feel for.

I also agree that I would almost feel bad putting Lyel up for lynch because of the difficulties he's mentioned. If he's lying to hide baddieness then it's extremely poor form, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that's the case. However, if it is true I still have no idea whether he's good or bad. Same with Grutfud. I think these baddies have shown they're too powerful and too tricky to take a chance lynching someone we can't read (or slightly better, since baddies now outnumber us, but my point still stands).

What are people's thoughts on leading lynch candidates for tomorrow? I know Carmen has still been getting some attention, but who else do people think is on the chopping block, as it were.

Oh! And as a side note for the folks keeping tally at home, I believe Queran has now voted for 5 straight civs. 4 are confirmed and then 1 vote for me. Just sayin'.
That's a horrible thing to say. Lyel wouldn't make up that his father-in-law died. Though you're only saying if, don't even question what happens in real life and if it influences the game.

As for the poll, I like both equally and you can't have one without the other but I'll go for characters.

There's just that small element of doubt about Carmen and Finnian which makes me wary of voting for either today. Carmen's alleged role hinting, and Finnian, if he were a baddie would he miss lynch polls, thereby surrendering his nightly powers?

Talking of this later, in the absence of any other strong candidates, I thought it might not be a bad idea to look at low posters who were not missing the lynches. They, I believe, are much more likely to be mafia, flying under the radar, but ensuring that they have full use of their evil powers at night.

I found two names: Fane with 11 posts, and Dierdre with 15. Both have voted in all lynches so far. Anyone have any thoughts on these two? All the other low posters have missed at least one vote.

15
All I've noticed about Fane is that, when he does post, it's usually about having too much to read and it being hard for Fane to keep up. This is not unusual and I am in a similar situation. But I still find this odd. Even though I haven't posted much of late, I do manage to catch up on what is being said. This might not mean he is a baddie, but it could be as Fane may be, as you suggest, flying under the radar. I'm not sure, though.

With no real case or suspicion, it feels to me like the idea of finding someone in the Rumpy discussion to lynch would be a good move for the mafia, but more than that, a smart mafia would promote the idea in theory, let it take root, and then back away from it to avoid being attached to the lynch.

I don't have as much of an issue with the first part tbh. While it would certainly have been nice to have discussions on other topics, the fact that there was discussion at all is definitely much better than how many Day 1's have gone. I do agree with the second part though. It does strike me as a discussion that could have been mafia-led or mafia-influenced.

So I'll say that I've got my eye on Laine Crystalsteam. This progression of posts is ping-y to me. It's all promoting voting for people who had certain kinds of posts about Rumpy and then BAM, I'll just vote for this guy who said he'd vote for the lowest poster but then didn't quite vote for the lowEST poster. It smells.

Though, it's very tricky to get a read on people right now.

I do agree that Laine's vote was a bit odd. It sounded like he was trying to be very opportunistic and latch himself onto a vote for me. When I and whoever else it was (still trying to figure out names, but I think it was the elf guy. Starts with a 'D' I believe) mentioned the foreign languages thing might not be very effective, he seemed to drop his suspicion of me altogether. But to jump from me, to Caillic, to Bac the way you did, and have the "it's very hard to read people right now" disclaimer at the end of 2 of those seems disingenuine to me. Like you were trying to throw some random names out there for small pings and hope other people latched onto the idea.

My fellow Puppet Magicians and myself will keep a close :eye: on you today.
As I have said, Day 1 votes are difficult as I barely know anyone it is difficult in coming up with a reason. After Dilan explained about the foreign lanuage thing, I realised that my reason was wrong, as it would have been difficult to communicate. Therefore, I could not vote for you for that. Also, I could never vote for Caillic anyway. Caillic was on a different table to the one I needed to vote for. Sorry that you think my vote is odd. I was just looking at people on the list and looking for reasons. As I have just posted, it looks like my reason for my vote is wrong.

Yes, I suppose you're right. It would be difficult. I just don't really have a reason for voting anyone.

I agree with what you said about Caillic. Seems like a good way to go. It is very odd that he/she would not try to find a way around the ability. If she/he is on Rumpelstiltskin's team and knows that there are consequences, he/she might be faking civvieness by alerting us to consequences from the hosts. Though, it's very tricky to get a read on people right now.

After Dilan responded to my post, I thought about it and realised that Gaerwen and Dilan were right and that communicating in another language would not work, thereby negating my reason for the vote. I then looked and noticed the contradiction in Bac's vote and voted for him. I don't see anything wrong with that.
I do :)

I did not do so, I never mentioned "no shows"; I mentioned people who low posted. You extrapolated. You were reaching, very much so.

I must say I agree with Diedres analysis; I think Laine wanted to vote for me for whatever REAL reason s/he had, and made up a reason.
If that is the case, then I apologise. Clearly, my reason was wrong. I do not have anything against you. It was Day 1 and I was trying really hard to find a reason to vote for someone.

Dierdre Wonderbird wrote:So reading back and catching up, I noted a few little things, nothing big but enough to make a note of them for later.

First off, the only real topic of discussion on Day 1 was Rumpy and potential ways around his power. While I applaud discussion, and I think the back n forth was good, it inevitably led to one of the thing i hate about Day 1s which is that someone got lynched for something they said about a side topic which everyone seemed to admit could have been said by a civ.

With no real case or suspicion, it feels to me like the idea of finding someone in the Rumpy discussion to lynch would be a good move for the mafia, but more than that, a smart mafia would promote the idea in theory, let it take root, and then back away from it to avoid being attached to the lynch.

Re: Grimm's Fairy Tale Mafia - Night 1

I am pondering whether to journey into the woods or to the castle. Grandma's house and the woods both sound sinister. Bad things always happen in the woods or at grandma's house.

I think I'll journey to the castle. (There may be good wine. We satyrs do love wine).

He may not have been sure of what to do, but he has caught our eye with his indecisiveness, so we vote Ironbeast.
Not indecisive, sir. Decisive! I decisively decided not to vote randomly!

This seems like an awfully nitpicky thing to single out. It is likely Bac just clicked the thread to see who had the fewest posts. Since people with zero posts don't show up, it makes since that she would overlook Etain.

I realize this is the second time I've commented on your vote choice, and that voting on day one is hard, though, so I cannot say I blame you.
I do realise that it is nitpicky and you may be right but I have to vote for someone and considering it is day one, it seemed like as good a reason as any.
Besides, it seemed strange to me.

As for suspects no one stands out, a few helpful people out there with bringing the usual day one suspicions to light, ie low posters. and listing who has to vote who which was helpful.

Someone said something about someone (sorry I forget who) about rumplestiltskin and his power, and how people sometimes subconsciously talk about their role, I have done this in the past, so know it happens when I've hosted I've seen players do it also. Whilst I'm not condemning the other person it is something to think about later in the game, if that person starts acting shifty or becomes more suspect.
Sorry to hear you are ill. Glad you're feeling better.
