Re: [DAY 6] Bioshock Mafia

RIP Mongoose!

Presumably killed by the plasmid?
Could still be a civ kill, but I don't think anybody's been poking at him in thread.
That's how I read it too. I think it's possible that a splicer attacked Mongoose and that the kill didn't go through. It's hard to say, the way MP has written it; it could just be part of the story line. If a splicer did attack Mongoose then I would be surprised, since I was not getting any baddie vibes from her.

I'm still not convinced about the case against bea. Like it has been mentioned several times, I don't think we should put too much stock in a day 2 vote, irrespective of its timing. I think the problem with that argument is that it's easier for us in hindsight to suspect foul play, but at the time putting a vote on someone else sometimes just makes more sense. It's very difficult for us to relive that exact moment when bea put her vote, from her perspective. Having said that, I also respect the fact that quite a few players think bea might be a baddie. With all the complex powers and role-interactions in this game, there may be reasons that I don't understand why people think so. I'm willing to consider that possibility, but at this moment, based simply on what's been happening in the thread, bea is not in my bad books. Equally importantly, I also see some subtle/some not-so-subtle bea-defense going on, and that makes me a little wary. I would like to hear more from bea herself, especially regarding her own suspects.

I haven't had a good read on Bullz so far. I'm going to read through the thread once again, a little later. Hopefully I will have something more to say about my own suspects at that time.

Re: [DAY 5] Bioshock Mafia

Catching up today was thankfully a lot easier; yesterday was absolutely nuts!
nutella wrote:I'm FAR more sure about Boats than Bea. And he hasn't been modkilled yet. So *votes Boats*

Bea's recent post actually reads rather genuine to me.
I agree with this. From what I know of Bea, she isn't the type of player who would emotionally blackmail other players to survive a lynch. My understanding of the current scenario is that the only really solid argument against her is her late vote in a baddie lynch. I think this argument is valid, and that's why I will be keeping my eye on Bea. At the same time, we're talking about an early-game vote, where civvies blunder all the time, and townies die in friendly fire or baddies survive lynches. Unfortunate as this is, I think reading too much into it may lead to us lynching even more townies.

I also agree with FH; the case against Boats is much more Occam's Razor friendly, and it's very likely that Boats has BTSC. I have to vote now since I won't be up by the time the poll closes. I vote Boats.

Re: [DAY 4] Bioshock Mafia

I have spent the last hour skimming through the posts, but there are just too many to fully catch up. Honestly, I am finding visiting this thread rather intimidating; unless I devote my entire mafia time to this game, I don't see how I will be able to keep up with things. There's just too much to read. I feel terrible for not being of any help so far, and I would request MP to find a replacement, but I think I would feel even more terrible about that considering how difficult it will be for a new player to catch up, and how much I was looking forward to this game. I would say I will be more active from the next day period, and hopefully be able to contribute, but I have made that promise earlier, and haven't been able to keep it.

Regarding boo, I do trust Aces judgment, but Boo's defense seems over the top to me, and the scare tactics seem to change the form they take - first it's a lynch switch threat, then it's about being an important townie role. It doesn't fit.

I am voting boo.

Re: [DAY 3] Bioshock Mafia

I have finally caught up with my reading, though I will need to go through the posts again to fully grasp everything. Based on my first read, BwT's subtle defense of Vompy (early random voter), and llama's not-so-subtle defense of BwT have pinged me most. But then, Llama's defense of BwT, although very vocal, came in a tad too late. Why would BwT's teammate virtually give himself up for naught? Llama is a much smarter player than that.
thellama73 wrote:Boo, my defense of BWT was a calculated risk. I knew I would get lynched if I turned out to be wrong, but if I had been right it would have made me look good, while at the same time hopefully sway people away from lynching a civ. I thought there was a more than 50% chance of the latter, so I gambled.

I don't resent any of your votes for me today, because I knew the chance I was taking and accept the consequences. If you do lynch me, however, I hope you get some good info from it.
In light of the above, this post I found most interesting. Llama admits that defending BwT was a calculated risk. I think Llama is being completely sincere here, but not in a townie-way. If llama was not on BwT's team but on an opposing baddie team instead, then by defending BwT (quite late in the day too), it would be a great way to gain cred if BwT turned out to be a townie. Llama would probably figure that the odds of BwT being townie (assuming llama is on the opposite baddie team) were high enough for the risk to be worth taking. Unfortunately it didn't come off. These are my current thoughts on Llama. I am equally pinged by Vompy, but not wanting to spread votes around, I will now put my vote on Llama.

Re: [NIGHT 2] Bioshock Mafia

Hi guys, I just have a few minutes so I have to keep this short. Those of you who know me also know that I despise inactivity. I've never been this inactive in a game before, and I'm truly ashamed. Real life has been unrelenting over the past several days, and it may take me another day or so before I can be back to playing my normal game. Hopefully I will be able to make up for my lack of contribution soon.

Once again, sorry MP, and sorry everyone.

Re: [DAY 1] Bioshock Mafia

I'm really sorry I haven't been able to pay as much attention to this game as it deserves. Real life has been getting in the way. Please give me a day or two, and I promise I will try to be more useful. For today, unfortunately, I have to do something that I usually hate doing, voting random. It's bed time for me, and I won't be up by the time the poll closes.

Re: [DAY 0] Bioshock Mafia

Hello everyone! :) My first post on the syndicate as Ajira, though I have played a game here before. I'm very excited about this one, my first MP game! And the player roster looks phenomenal! :D

I tried to read through all the role descriptions earlier, trying to translate everything down to a bare bones description. Well, unless you've hours/days/weeks/years of free time, I don't recommend this exercise. I've decided to just take it easy for now, and leave the complexities for later in the game when things become (hopefully) more manageable.

I'm not taking the free plasmid -- sounds very tempting, but the possible aftereffects make me shudder.
