Re: The Shining: Night 6
Also I knew SVS' role for about half the game. On night 1 I got sanity check info regarding MP, then on night 2 I asked for a secret about SVS and was told she targeted MP the previous night. Wasn't hard to put 2 and 2 together after that.

Re: The Shining: Night 6
Awesome game
I absolutely loved my role, I wish I had Tony with me in every game! Each night I got to ask Llama for a secret about a specific role, specific player, or general mechanic. The 'theory' I was coming up with about Lloyd wasn't really a theory, I found out the bartender's secret on I think night 4 and was going to bring it up in the thread as a guess at what the drinks do.

Snow, you're not going to die anyway. I just have no idea whether to trust you or Mongoose any more. One of you is clearly someone I need alive and the other has either outright claimed to be or allowed me to believe it for most of the game.

Interestingly the other two you mention are claiming to be the same person, I'm claiming to be someone else. I'm actually gonna put my vote on Snow because I'm no longer sure if he's the person I used to think he was, and while I doubt he'll be lynched I'd rather not go into the final night a fool.Hedgeowl wrote:Ok bullz it is because while i dont know for sure who you are. i know who are not for my win.

I've never had one, I'm beginning to think the barman doesn't love me! Re: The Shining: Day 5
I've yet to receive a drink but I imagine quite a few people have had them at this point. My question would be has anybody been given more than one? I have a sort of theory about what they do but I can't elaborate on it yet. I'm also one who wants to vote and not lose their night power but if nothing decent comes up I may reconsider.Hedgeowl wrote:You are correct, we all have to be some role, but I am not a twin. I can't speak for Mongoose. I think at this point its hard to define baddie. There are no more NKs, therefore I think it more accurate to say that we each have our individual baddies. Meaning those who prevent our win condition.Vompatti wrote:It has to be someone though.Kate wrote:I'm not suggesting its anyone, I'm just saying its not me.Vompatti wrote:Are you suggesting it's Hedgeowl and Mongoose then? I'm not getting baddie vibes from either. I wish we didn't have to lynch anyone.
While my win condition does not require anyone's death, I had forgotten about the lack of Night power if we dont vote. For this reason I am going to have to vote today, but I've been doing some rereading to help figure out who.
Have others received drinks by now? Is this a nightly thing?

Re: The Shining: Night 4
I could see Lloyd having literally one kill, like maybe there's a chance he'll serve somebody poison. But like you say none of the roles really seem set up to be killers at this point. It's possible we're just really lucky.Kate wrote:From looking at the roles, the only other roles that could be killers are the hotel and Lloyd because they have *secrets*. I doubt that llama would make a building a killer, that just seems weird, plus if it were there's no way it'd be unlynchable. It'd be practically indestructible. As for Lloyd, I suppose its a little more likely than the hotel, but I still think its very unlikely given the fact that there have been no kills since King died and no reference to attempted kills in the posts.

Re: The Shining: Night 4
I genuinely feel King was the only killer. If he wasn't we'd have seen kills from someone else, it'd be rather self-defeating for someone with an NK and a win condition that required people dead to hide and act like nobody is killing. Another thing is Wendy wouldn't be allowed to block the same person every night so even if she's that good it wouldn't matter. Of course if in a couple of hours it's mentioned that someone got NKed then disregard everything I've just said.Mongoose wrote:These are the characters that have been offed:
* Jack Torrance
* Stanley Kubrick
* Stephen King
* Dick Halloran
* Delbert Grady
I was looking at the Players List on Page 1, and noticed that no one has been NK'd since N1.
There are several scenarios for this, and more than one of these is probably occurring.
1) Until Nev died (during the Day 3 vote), he was very effective at protecting various players.
2) Wendy, who is still alive, is doing a rather awesome job of role blocking a murderer.
3) All the "murderers" have died off already
4) There were PMs missing from various players on N3 and N4. Those PMs could have come from a player who has a murdery ability.
In summation: do we think any of the remaining characters have the ability to kill off characters at night? Or: are defensive players just playing very smartly.

I think Nev wants to die. Maybe he has to be dead to win, if that's the case I'll happily oblige him. If he was the hotel I can't think of any reason why he'd want his role to be obvious as I think it's probably not a friendly role. Re: The Shining: Day 3
I have no idea what this is, but I agree the 'Llama gambit' (which I won't criticise this time, given our host!) wouldn't apply in a game like this. I'm curious as to what you're thinking about the dead characters though. Could it be that they have to die while the live characters have to survive? That seems just about crazy enough to happen.Hedgeowl wrote:This isn't the llama gambit right? Cause I don't think that would work in this game. Since we all have what I assume are different win conditions, I really don't know how to interpret your suicide as having an 'extremely civ' motive. I am 95% not inclined to vote for you. I know the tendency is to lynch people for their behavior if it smacks of the weird, unpredictable, and unexplained, because they're probably a baddie, but Nev's actions strike me as decidedly odd.Nevinera wrote:After I'm lynched you will still all be confused. I won't come back to haunt you. Unless the rules allow that? That would be cool :-p
As for haunting, I have started to wonder if based on our theme there might be more than meets the eye for the dead characters. That would be one of the only ways I could consider Nev's actions rational at all.

I get that. Yes, the role setup and win conditions here are different. But I'm just going based off of what makes the most sense for the "civvies" in this game to win because I believe myself to fall under that category.
Given Stephen King is gone and Jack is gone (and he presented some complications) and the game hasn't ended, it seems logical to me that the Gradies, Bartender, and maybe even the unlynchable role need to go. I think that seems sensible, don't you?

Re: The Shining: Night 2
Regarding the poll, I'd like to think if I was lost in a maze I'd do something smart like keep left, and maybe I'd even start out doing that, but honestly I'd probably end up just wandering aimlessly, or cheating and forcing my way through the hedges but that isn't an option so I guess I have to vote for the random wandering.

Re: The Shining: Night 2
Maybe Danny is sort of an info role and 'Tony' is just a game mechanic/storytelling thing? If we don't have an actual Tony role then I'm not sure what else might be the case.S~V~S wrote:12 players, 12 roles counting Tony and Danny as one, not two.

Looking at the list Danny is a role but Tony doesn't seem to beMongoose wrote:Yeah, I'm pretty sure Danny Torrance is his own role. They are listed separately.

Re: The Shining: Day 2
Honestly Dex was basically a lucky guess for me. What I said in my back and forth with him was the truth of it: Snow said there were ten minutes to vote, I panicked and voted for someone that I thought there was a half-decent reason to vote for without having thought it through as much as I'd have preferred to do, and it turned out to be one of the best options. I think we're in a similar place right now, I've got good feelings about a couple of players but nobody has seemed particularly evil or insane to me.S~V~S wrote: Becasue you are a person who can fool me really smoothly, I need to know where you are in most games, and try to find out early. This reaction makes me feel pretty OK.
Good catch on Dex, (Burn, Stephen King, burn~) any other suspicions? I have more in the way of good feelings than bad, tbh.
Linki~ yeah, you are pretty forthright, but you soften the edges nicely. Feel free to blush
Linki @ MP~ not sure about Kate, but I have seen nothing from her to comment onShe and I can tend to get too paranoid about each other, we discussed that after a recent game, and I am trying not to overanalyze her any more than I do anyone else (except Bullz, lol)
Linki Mongoose: Are Tony and the kid two roles? I'd assumed it was just the one, sort of an info-getting deal. The twins role says it's two players whereas the kid's (I can't even remember his name!) doesn't if I recall correctly.

Really? I'm actually surprised, an opinion I've always held doesn't sound like meS~V~S wrote:Bullz is a very forthright guy, and his remark about the definition of blendiness did not sound like him, tbh. So since I was not wanting to vote Snow since I thought he wanted to get votes, and I did not want to vote Vomp for being Vomp, I voted Bullz to remind him I was looking, and hoping he was nice, normal sane BullzWith my "gotta rush, posting from phone" vote, I did not expect him to get any more votes.
I only skimmed in the few minutes since I got home, will reread and post more in a few after catching up.
Linki~ um, yeah. You seemed to be trying to drum up suspicion, Snow.

FWIW I trust Snow for now after his role hint and will not be voting him despite odd behaviour unless anything comes up to disprove what I think I know.

Re: The Shining: Night 2
I've never read or seen The Shining so I'm not actually familiar with the characters or plot, are we now basically looking for the 'baddie' characters? The whole secret win conditions thing makes it hard to tell who we actually need to get rid of.Mongoose wrote:Grady twins, Delbert, Lloyd, Stuart?Bullzeye wrote:I was just thinking I hope Snow wasn't going to get lynched, but I wasn't expecting such a good result to the lynch. Re: The Shining: Day 2
Well, you're wrong. If votes had timestamps you'd see I cast my vote probably seconds before Llama posted. I was rushing because I hate missing votes - hence why it's rare to see me do so. I kinda buy Snow's recent role hint as well so I don't think lynching him is a good idea FWIW.
