Yeah that is a pretty badass comeback. I always liked Matt Smith's warning to the Atraxi at the end of his first episode, 11 was generally awesome with the speeches and intimidation. Also (paraphrased):
"This trap has something wrong. There's one thing you never put in a trap. If you're smart, if you have any plans about seeing tomorrow there is one thing you must never EVER put in a trap... Me."

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
I got bored of River and felt like she was just being crammed in wherever she could fit, so I'm glad she's not around any more. Maybe a few years from now I'll miss her and feel the same as I do about Jack though. I sort of miss Martha and Donna as well, with UNIT being so big in the 50th special they could have thrown Martha back into the mix for a little while or had one of them with Tennant at the time the story was set. Can see why they didn't though, since the 10th's companion would have no reason to forget what had happened and it wouldn't make sense.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
He's way too competent. He'd be the one rescuing The Doctor half the time, plus there's the whole 'likes to shoot at his problems' thing. The Doctor doesn't like guns. It'd be interesting to see him interact with Capaldi and Clara though. I can't believe they never kept on with Torchwood. I thought Miracle Day was really good. Children of Earth was too depressing though and I wasn't a huge fan, and if it ever did come back I'd rather it go back to the original format and stop killing half the cast every other episode.zeek wrote:^ THIS. They serious need to bring him Jack. But perhaps he's too compotent for a long term companion.Bullzeye wrote:I'm still holding out for a Captain Jack return.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
I'm still holding out for a Captain Jack return. Torchwood was cut off before its time (understandably though) but that should really free up the character for a one-off appearance in the main show.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
Oh yeah definitely. It's like you and they said, Cybermen are only better at dying :P I do like the Cybermen too, but they're probably not among my most favourite villains.MovingPictures07 wrote:Agreed, love this scene, and awesome episode. And explains exactly why both mafia teams couldn't win with each other.Bullzeye wrote:Also, the premise of this game reminds me of one of my favourite scenes from the show:
"This is not war; this is pest control!!!"
"You are superior in only one respect... you are better at dying!!"
Daleks > Cybermen, any day, IMO.
The two teams could never work together to any lasting succcess. Both believe in the superiority of their own race and that everything else is theirs to exterminate/delete/rule over. Kinda reminiscent of Germany/Russia/Japan in WW2, which is probably what they were going for really.
Also "It's like Stephen Hawking meets the Speaking Clock" is probably Mickey's only valuable contribution to the entire show. I barely remember him at all, except from this and that other Cybermen episode in the parallel universe.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
That is exactly how The Doctor would react if he knew I'd signed up for this game. Rightly so too.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
On reflection, after some encouragement, persuasion, threats, tears, tantrums and outright flattery from MP, and since I absolutely would never miss an opportunity to play under any circumstances I will give this game a try and hope I'm not too busy.

I especially like the way so much was left vague and not fully explained. Reminded me of Midnight. Do we have a Doctor Who discussion thread somewhere? If not, why not? :P

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
I sure wish I wasn't going to be too busy to play this. I'm still tempted to sign up but as I've said I hate dropping out of games and leaving hosts in difficulty. Has anyone else seen the newest episode? Definitely my favourite of this series. I highly recommend not watching it in the dark while sitting in bed at 1am home alone. That was a bad move.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
I ain't scared of you MP :P I just don't want to end up dropping out. In second year I dropped out of like 4 RM games in a row because of uni and it was really annoying.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
It's where everyone wears socks on their hands and we record ourselves making silly voices in character as the socks then post those videos and that's how you play.Made wrote:fingersplints wrote:a sock puppet game
for future reference, what are sock puppet games?
OR it might be a kind of game where everyone uses anonymous accounts as opposed to their own. X-Men and American Gods are the first two that come to mind for me from this site. LOST Revolution years ago on RM used them as well and was probably the most popular sock puppet game IMO.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
I'll put myself down as a potential replacement. If I'm needed during September I'll jump in and do my best, after the 27th (when I move back to uni) if you're desperate give me a shout and I'll evaluate the situation to see if I can help.

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
In other news, I think Capaldi is shaping up to be an awesome Doctor. His first two episodes haven't been amazing IMO but I'm really enjoying his attitude and humour.
"Clara's my carer, she does all the caring so I don't have to".

Re: Doctor Who Mafia - Sign Ups
Unfortunately I start my Masters course in three weeks and have therefore forbidden myself from joining any more mafia games. Once I get back to uni I'll just be too busy and won't have time for mafia any more. I would have wanted to play this one as well, shame it had to occur during the several months where I can't/shouldn't be around.
