Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 4]

I am hungry for thread activity guys. I'm feeling directionless and not really confident in any suspicions, and I know we have 24 hours but I'd rather not pull votes out of nowhere. I feel helpless without JJJ or Rico to build cases for me, I could do some ISOs and try to farm something myself but I don't know where to start atm. Someone slip or something. :p

I want to take her down. Nutella vs MP!!!
Huh? Can you elaborate on what prompted this? What has changed since my defense satisfied you?
I don't think I'm latching onto easy targets because I don't think there are any easy targets today. I keep waffling on TH and Glorfindel, and I'm not very confident about Sorsha either. I just said I would be looking into them today. TH's and Glorf's exchanges last night led me to feel better about both of them tbh, and I really don't know what to think of Sorsha right now. I just don't feel like I can dismiss Eloh's hint, but I don't know which of TH or Sorsha it was about and I don't know how trustworthy it may be.
I believe I also mentioned Russ, as he's still hovering on my list but has been in a kind of stasis there since he *cough* HASN'T BEEN POSTING OR RESPONDING TO ANYTHING... I'm afraid he's trying to coast along in the background.

I'll probably do that differently today, and barring some huge slip from you, that should mean other people.

I would still like for you to address as many things as you can, including the things I pointed out yesterday.
Please tell me what I haven't already addressed from yesterday day in the post I made above.
Sloonei quoted a post of mine about your tone saying he looked forward to your response, and you didn't respond to that (though you did discuss your flippancy).

Turnip Head wrote:I'm going to assume that Elohcin has no interest in talking about her vote for me. I don't know what that means yet exactly, but it's certainly noteworthy :shrug2: Maybe she was forced to vote for me or something.
She very much implied she had info on you or Sorsha or both.

For the record, I'm a civ who does not want to duel. Sure, I have an okay chance of winning a duel, but there's always a chance I would die and I do not feel like taking that risk. I like being alive and I like playing the game, and I don't want to "sacrifice" myself (which for some reason Sorsha thinks is a good thing because it might lead to insights, but I think that the negatives of losing civ numbers almost always outweighs any benefits and we almost always learn more from a baddie lynch). I don't really get MP's enthusiasm, unless he's somehow really confident he'll win the duel and get a prize or whatever. Unless you have special immunity, there's always a chance you'd just die. But maybe he has special immunity :shrug2: If that's true, I would much rather he duel a baddie :p

OK, TH, that post you came in with felt pretty genuine to me, so I might give you more of a chance today. I did like Lorab's and Sloonei's points against Glorfindel, but a fair amount of that sort of hinged on TH also being bad and I'm not feeling sure enough about that. I could see reading Glorfindel as bad even without that condition though, tbh. Might ISO him today. At the least, I remember (a) finding it odd when he brought up just one of the mafia leaders in his reaction to both teams' lack of night 1 kill, and (b) not really liking his day 2 vote.

The main thing is a bit of wifom early in the game suggesting he may be Wilgy's and MM's teammate. Additionally, many players have cited an intangible bad vibe from him since the beginning of the game, something about his style and participation is rubbing the wrong way.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 3]

@Rico, Scotty meant to say that he thought TH was a Nanman team member, and just mixed up the baddie teams. Not a slip at all, imo. Mixing up which team is which is something that only someone who is not on either team would do. Unless he somehow made that mistake on purpose, but from his posts it's pretty clear to me that it was genuine.

Unfortunately I'm really busy now until EoD. I'll pop in briefly to vote, most likely for Timmer and either TH or Russ. I don't have time to do that TH ISO I wanted to do, but I think the wifom and general pingy gut feelings are enough for me to consider voting him. I'm a little hesitant though since he might be silenced and I generally try not to vote for silenced players; however, the silencing role is on the Nanman team and it may be a protective measure, strengthening the theory that he's bad.... on the other hand it could be a frame attempt. Wifom wifom everywhere and not a drop to drink.

DP has a total of 2 posts, one of which is a nothing and the other stating his d2 vote (not even giving reasoning). He's normally very quiet but this is pretty egregious.

TheCapsFan posted a few times on D0, but missed both d1 and d2 with just a couple check-in posts, plus the weird one today.

Niju is also quite inactive with just one D0 post and one post this Monday about how busy she is/hadn't caught up.

Bullzeye popped in briefly on both day 1 and day 2 to make uninformed votes and state that he hadn't been able to catch up.

Spacedaisy likewise; is confirmed very busy irl and voted on day 2 for self voters but has not caught up at all.

BWT has likewise admitted inability to keep up with the game.

Simon has a few posts from d0 and d2 but overall hasn't participated much.

Elohcin has similarly had trouble keeping up with the game, but I'm fairly satisfied with her Day 2 effort/participation/vote.

...That's really quite a lot. I wonder if anyone would be available to replace in for at least a couple of these people.

Players with 10-15 posts include DF, Timmer, Nerolunar, Boomslang, Russ, and Sorsha. Typical for DF, and I think he's participated a normal amount for him (mostly his back and forth with Dom). Sorsha also tends to be pretty quiet, but I would like a bit more substance from her. Timmer and Russ have been popular suspects/lynch candidates and aren't doing much about it. Nero and Boom, well, they're on DDL's list so I'll be looking into them but they've both been quite under the radar.

On to DDL's list.

Boomslang: Discussed duel mechanics/strats on d0, was away for most of d1, participated a little on d2 voting for MM and Jan. I feel pretty ok/neutral about him.

Bullzeye: see above. doesn't seem much like him to be this inactive, but idk if it's alignment indicative

Dragon D. Luffy: 3rd highest poster (2nd not counting the dead), I don't really feel like reading his whole ISO but overall I have a pretty strong civ read of him.

Elohcin: again see above. pretty inactive but I feel like she's ok alignment-wise.

Nerolunar: Kind of like DF, his participation has been low but fairly regular and decent. The only thing that gives me pause is that he voted for BWT and Timmer on D2, staying far away from the MM/Russ/Dom contest. Seems like maybe he hadn't been caught up but it would be nice to know if he had thoughts on any of that.

Quin: one of the highest posters, but that doesn't mean he hasn't blended in to some extent. I feel pretty good about him though.

OK, this isn't much but I'm gonna go ahead and post it, and then go back to the few mid-low posters that I haven't ISOed yet -- Russ, Timmer, Sorsha, and DF. After that I'm thinking I might ISO TH because a lot of people, me included, have been citing a sort of bizarre, supernatural, inexplicable odor of "something's not quite right" emanating from the general direction of the turnip.
Have you looked at those "mid-low" posters yet? Would you like to vote for any of them? What do you think of Bubbles' replacement so far?

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 3]

The weird thing about Russ is that he was around a little bit on day 2, but didn't really defend himself despite being on the dueling block. He just barely responded to JJJ's points about him, but basically nothing since. There was also this lynch reaction that a handful of people (myself included) didn't like. I really don't know what to think of him at this point tbh. The things that JJJ pointed out were never particularly incriminating IMO, but his style has been weird and, as I said of MM, rather cavalier :p Did he give up on defending himself from the bandwagon? Was he quite confident that he was going to win the duel, and just not bother getting worried?

Since I started writing this post he's made another check-in post that's really no more than that, and he says he'll probably "more-or-less random" vote today due to not catching up. I'm kinda feeling worse and worse about his style/participation here -- in fact it's pretty much the same feeling I got from MM. Russ is climbing back up toward the top of my list for today.

Timmer has very few posts of substance -- like many others he couldn't keep up with the thread, but his drive-by vote was pretty suspicious. He's defended it twice and seems to think it was a perfectly fine thing for a civ to do. I'm rather inclined to disagree, but I suppose I could see him feeling genuinely ok about it. But the fact that he voted for the two runner-ups to MM is very suspicious. Especially looking at where he voted on Rico's handy chart -- MM was in the lead but Dom and Russ were pretty close behind, and Timmer brought them even closer. Doesn't look good. I may very well vote for him again today.

Sorsha has popped in a few times and not caught up/participated in the thread discussion much but she has brought in her own unique perspective on some random stuff. Like she wanted to go after the prefects and thought they might be more likely to have teammates, which is actually not an unreasonable point, but her attitude when asked about it was a little odd. When asked about the main candidates on day 2 she said she didn't suspect Dom, wasn't sure about Russ, but "would be ok with an MM vote" but then she voted for herself and INH. Tbh that strikes me as the kind of thing a teammate might do -- saying she's ok with that bandwagon but not actually joining it -- but the fact that she voted for herself and another non-vote-getter is a less suspicious way to uninformedly vote than timmer's.

DF seems to me like his usual self, and has been completely reasonable in his back and forth with Dom. I think he's good.

Dom, ok well it's not only that but also, and I mentioned this a little in my response to MP, the way you've been focusing on DF/pushing against anyone who suspects you and meanwhile staying out of a lot of the main discussions. Since the beginning of the game you've been sort of saying your own thing on the sidelines, prioritizing your persona over getting involved in the thread and as I said earlier your posts thus had less content than I would have liked. Less so today, but for the first couple days it felt like you were playing from inside your own bubble, and I prefer to see more interaction with major topics of conversation.

I don't. Been staring at it a while now and I have no clue.
Whichever 2 names move to the left (or appear in the case of the 1-vote column) in each row are the players the person on the left of the row voted for. So it shows how many votes each person had after each person voted.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 3]

Damn, RIP JJJ and SVS. :(

Great lynch though! He was Wilgy's teammate after all :D

It's possible Dom was saved, but since MM is confirmed bad I'm going to prioritize looking into the people who placed their votes on two candidates other than MM who were getting several votes. Looking at the poll history, that includes Timmer, Golden, and DP. All fairly quiet players so far (though Golden just said he's about to be a little more active), and I could see any/all of them as baddies hiding utr. Timmer stands out to me with his particularly suspicious voting. I could also add MP to the list of people who attempted to steer away from MM (and also from Dom).

Linki: Well now I look silly since Rico just mentioned the same three people. :p I don't at all understand what's going on in that chart though, could you explain it a bit more? :confused2:

Earlier I said I didn't like either Dom's or Bubbles' votes; I'm pretty convinced that Bubbles is being her usual self but that doesn't preclude her being bad. Dom is just being incredibly annoying and not really providing sufficient content imo due to his obnoxious posting gimmick, and I am still perplexed by his voting behavior. And I'm keeping Russ on my list as well, since he hasn't given me a great impression overall, and I look forward to seeing what he has to contribute today.

Speaking of contributing, there are numerous players I would love to hear more from. INH, Niju, Bullz, Dunny, Timmer... where you at?
MM, Dom, and Russ are the 'hot button' candidates right now, and Bubbles is a semi-hot one. That's not particularly inspiring in and of itself, but then check out the orange stuff.

So what's wrong with the orange stuff?
1) Very strong, assertive language, like "pretty convinced", "incredibly annoying", "disturbingly cavalier", "more and more suspicious", especially given a lack of substantive reasons for those strong opinions.
2) The fact that she is OK voting for Dom because he is "just being incredibly annoying".
3) The fact that she is OK voting for Russ for such a vague reason.
4) The fact that she is OK voting for Bubbles for, again, essentially a non-reason.

nutella, please elaborate. I'm concerned. I don't understand what makes your views of these players any more alarming than most of the rest of the players in the game, considering that none of their behavior also fits your descriptions for voting those three candidates (like 'precludes from being bad', 'usual self', 'not really providing sufficient content', etc.
1) OK, so first you say my posts are "devoid of actual substance" and then you knock them for having too strong language/opinions. There's not a lack of substantive reasons, I just don't feel the need to restate them when they're basically the same reasons other people have stated. I did feel pretty strongly about MM being "cavalier" at that point.
2) That is not why I was considering Dom. His annoying posting style was not the sole reason I found him suspicious, but it was related because it seems to affect the way he comments on stuff -- it seems like because of the persona he's putting on, his posts have been rather thin/only saying one thing at a time or responding to one person and always with a strong, accusatory dismissal of whoever he's responding to. In turn this leads to me perceiving his posts to have "insufficient content" because it feels like he's not saying much, even if he has provided a couple original thoughts (a lot of them have been kinda No U-ish though, which again fails to impress me).
3) Again, my inclusion of Russ was based on parts of JJJ's discussion of him, which I had mixed feelings on. Any willingness I had to vote for Russ was pretty weak, but I was keeping him on the back of my list because I agreed with about half of JJJ's case and I also didn't like his response to the lynch result.
4) I thought Bubbles' vote was suspicious. I also could see her behaving that way innocently. She was another consideration at the back of my list.
MovingPictures07 wrote:A few questions for you as well:

2) What content can you find in Dom's posts? Because I can find some, even if it isn't strongly supported. Let's compare.
3) Which posts of MM's are "suspicious in and of themselves" and why?

Oh, and that that yellow stuff? That's the kicker to what's reminding me of myself when bad. I love throwing out those lines.
1) Several. JJJ, Scotty, DDL, Mac, Quin, at the very least. Obviously a lot of players have contributed much less than Dom, but that doesn't mean I'm entirely happy with his contributions.
2) There was the whole Bass thing, which was weird. And more recently the DF thing, which feels very no-u-y. Like I said, he has provided some original content, but it hasn't impressed me.
3) He didn't really respond to most of JJJ's points against him, except that he likes WIFOM. He also had that weird self-voting deal with TH that didn't end up happening. And I didn't understand his whole "if there hadn't been duels I wouldn't have voted Wilgy" bit, he didn't really explain what he meant by that. And just in general, his posts have been rather terse/minimal and that exudes an air of confidence that gives me a not-so-great vibe.

As for pointing out who I wanted to hear from, those were just my genuine thoughts/observations -- people like INH, Dunny, and Niju had been fairly active on Day 0 and then just simply disappeared and were never heard from again. I mentioned them because it felt like the thread was only being populated by a very small subset of the player roster, and I wanted to hear from a greater breadth of players.
MovingPictures07 wrote:Furthermore, and again we're on meta here, nutella has a VERY strong and consistent meta phenomenon. She is always incredibly unsure of herself when she's civilian. I've kind of answered this already, but I don't feel like my playing here has been inconsistent with my meta. I'm still pretty unsure of myself. You keep saying I've used strong and assertive language, but that was only a couple times (in the post you point it out in above, I was already being pretty wishy-washy wrt Bubbles and Russ, and I've more recently been waffling on Dom) and for the most part my opinions have been influenced by other players such as JJJ.

Oh hey, thread's still open. Have a post.

I'd call nutella moderately suspicious and more worthy of a lynch than Dom, MM, and Russ easily. Again, feels like a pretty d1-ish case, but I think there's some real potential here even if it's far from a slam dunk. What do you folks think? What's agreeable or disagreeable in my assessment?
okay, I obviously don't have enough time to respond to all of this, but you're on the wrong track here. I'm civ and although I'm trying to not be as uncertain/wishy-washy as I often get in trouble for, I have been mostly piggybacking on other people's (mostly JJJ's) ideas and as usual my opinions often change while reading everyone else's posts. So my suspicions have been somewhat strong but usually based on other people's cases, and I can be fairly easily swayed to a different line of thinking.
I would elaborate on my thoughts on Dom and MM if I had time but I really do not right now, will have to get back to that tomorrow.

This (and the other similar things you've said) is a fair point. Dom can act zany and it might be alignment non-indicative or even civ-indicative. Still, I haven't liked his behavior in general, what with his odd statements of suspicion and apparent inconsistencies. I'll hold off on voting him for now though.

I really don't like Timmer's choice to "randomly" vote on the bandwagons. That's not a good look. I think he's getting my vote along with MM. I'm a little bit behind on reading the day's posts so I'll read as much as I can in the next 15 minutes but will make sure not to miss the poll.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 2]

Great result! And no night death, wow. Probably some protections/other mechanics involved, but could also be partially due to inactive players. (Has anyone tried to tell lorab or rabbit or soneji the game has started? It's been a while...)

I'm rather intrigued by the connections JJJ has observed between Wilgy and MM. I also agree with Scotty that Bubbles' and Dom's votes were suspicious.
