Re: Monkey Island [DAY 7]

Voting records

Long Con Day 1: MP07
Long Con Day 2: zebra
Long Con Day 3: missed vote
Long Con Day 4: zebra
Long Con Day 5: Soneji
Long Con Day 6: MacDougall

Snow Dog Day 1: zebra
Snow Dog Day 2: zebra
Snow Dog Day 3: Quin
Snow Dog Day 4: zebra
Snow Dog Day 5: Soneji
Snow Dog Day 6: Long Con

Zebra Day 1: missed vote
Zebra Day 2: Snow Dog
Zebra Day 3: Snow Dog
Zebra Day 4: Snow Dog
Zebra Day 5: Snow Dog
Zebra Day 6: Long Con

Vompatti Day 1: Metalmarsh
Vompatti Day 2: MP07
Vompatti Day 3: Soneji
Vompatti Day 4: Nijuukyugou
Vompatti Day 5: Soneji
Vompatti Day 6: Long Con

Wilgy Day 1: missed vote
Wilgy Day 2: Black Rock - final vote
Wilgy Day 3: Boomslang
Wilgy Day 4: Nijuukyugou
Wilgy Day 5: missed vote
Wilgy Day 6: MacDougall

Scotty Day 1: zebra
Scotty Day 2: Black Rock - second last vote
Scotty Day 3: Boomslang
Scotty Day 4: missed vote
Scotty Day 5: Long Con
Scotty Day 6: Long Con

Day 1 - Wilgy and zebra missed the vote. Night 1, a kill may have been missed. Missing the vote may indicate disengagement at that point in the game. We now know the Pirates are Black Rock, MacDougall, Soneji, and ???. On Night 1, Black Rock was barely present, Mac had 1 post, Soneji had no posts... so the theory that the whole Pirate team was disengaged and missed the kill gains some serious credibility. Wilgy or zebra, then? Zebra had three posts of just Smilies during the night, but none within 12 hours of the deadline. Wilgy's Night 1 posts are almost identical, timing-wise... just uses words and sentences rather than Smilies.

Day 2 - Scotty and Wilgy are the final two votes in BR's baddie coffin. A good look for them both to not be Pirates.

Day 3 - hard to get info here. Vompatti voted for baddie Soneji tenth, when zebra had two votes, and the rest was spread out or not yet voted.

Day 4 - Wilgy and Vompatti both vote for the Cannibal nijuukyugou when she has only one other vote. Again, a really good look for both of them. Not a good look for Snow Dog today - he voted for zebra after nijuu did, and after nijuu got a second vote (from Vomp) to tie the lynch between zebra and nijuu at 2-2. Snow Dog's vote placed zebra on the chopping block, briefly saving nijuu until Wilgy came and tied it up again, and sig sealed the deal.

Day 5 - Long Con, Vompatti, and Snow Dog all voted for baddie Soneji, good non-Pirate look for all three. Zebra voted early and off the main tracks with yet another Snow Dog vote. Scotty voted for me, but it was a second vote when Soneji already had 4, so I wouldn't condemn it as him trying to save Soneji too much.

Day 6 - Wilgy and I vote for Mac and he goes down. Wilgy looks great here again. Zebra, Snow Dog, Scotty, voted for Long Con over Mac... any of them could have been trying to save him. Vomps gets a pass for not voting Mac because his voting record is already too beautiful to criticize.

Final thoughts on vote analysis

Long Con - not likely a Pirate, could be a Cannibal
Snow Dog - voted for Soneji so maybe not a Pirate, could be a Cannibal
zebra - never voted a confirmed baddie, always voted off... not a good look at all, could be either baddie team
Vompatti - Looks too Civ, I will not vote Vompatti
Wilgy - Looks too Civ, I will not vote Wilgy
Scotty - voted for Black Rock with a good looking vote, points to maybe not a Pirate, could be a Cannibal

After this analysis, my preferred vote, from most to least preferred: zebra, Scotty, Snow Dog, Wilgy, Vompatti, Long Con

Re: Monkey Island [DAY 7]

RIP Nachomamma. Your death likely resulted from the general whole-game consensus that you were some sort of Civ. :shrug2: Hope you weren't! :haha: But you probably were. :(

Only one kill again.... maybe only one team left after all?

BUT, that feels wrong... MM was the last nightkill, and he was obviously ( Scotty) Civ, and Nacho being the last member of a team should still mean that his final kill would go through at the same moment he died. Or maybe Mac was the last Pirate, LeChuck died some time in the past, and Mac forgot his kill two nights ago, and was no longer around to kill tonight.

Re: Monkey Island [NIGHT 6]

I did a quick totalling of positive and negative things Mac said about folks.

Long Con - 1 negative
Epi - 1 negative
Golden - 1 negative
MP - 1 negative, 1 neutral
sig - 1 positive
zebra - 1 neutral, 6 negative (outside of and separate from the argument midgame)
Wilgy - 2 neutral, 2 negative
Snow Dog - 1 negative
Metalmarsh - 1 negative, 1 positive
Nacho - 2 negative, 1 positive
Scotty - 2 negative

Pretty even spread there, probably good to compare it to his Civ game and see if it looks similar. Mostly a generalized spread of casting suspicion, except for a particular negative focus on zebra.

Huh. You said 3 were probably alive yesterday and even after Mac's flip you think there could still be 3?

Do you think a team was blocked last night or missed a kill then? As you know, Mac was around that last night. Do you think it more likely the cannibals or pirates didn't kill?

Asking for a friend.
Did you mean to say "As you know, Mac wasn't around that last night"? Because he had the least posts of anyone still alive that night - just one post.

Ok, fine, I could have risen to the challenge and posted better content on the go, instead of waiting for the most part for another 5 hours when I was home. I thought the best decision was to get a quick thing in that let people know when I'd be back to post more in-depth, and to not vote for me, at least until that point. I still think it was the right decision, and that your accusation of "hollow and rushed" is wholly inappropriate, given that the intention of that post was not to give an in-depth, carefully thought out communication. I'm pretty sure it's not out of line to say that that should have been completely obvious.

"wholly inappropriate is a strong term". That was how i saw it. I've made those types of posts before, when my back is against a wall. I've been bad in some of those instances.

And the fact that you attack that one single post with the accusation "hollow and rushed", after you completely ignore my posts directly to you that are carefully thought-out and complete, just blows my mind. thats not what you meant and you know it. You were inferencing that he should have been assumed civ before the reveal so don't even give me that.
Scotty, you are completely wrong. Read the damn post again. See, "silly Llama :feb:?" Why do you think I said that? Could it be, uh, that I was referring to Llama's accidental reveal of MM's role? Hmm? You're too busy tunnelling me and telling me what I know to even take a simple look at the context.

I don't think I'll ever get on the same page about this. I read it again. I see it. It says "obviously." But not in the syntax that you're explaining it. Yes, I could be harping on a simple joke but your explanation is mind boggling. Once again, it wasn't obvious until llama pointed out that it was obvious. You said it like we should have known all along that it was obvious and his reveal should have been of no surprise. I don't take kindly to others biting their thumbs.

Now it could be that I'm just not good at picking that up this game and I'm letting it get to my head. I don't know if you read my voting pattern post but im not doing so well.

either I fucked up or I made a great decision. As you said, it's called the game of mafia.
But of course. There's winning, there's playin' chumps, and there's gettin' played. You are in one of the latter two categories, I just won't know which until endgame.
Another attempt to make me feel inferior. And you had bananas to use anyway so this is just an attempt to make me feel shitty
Hey. Bro. I want nothing to do with your feelings. Because I like you and I think you're cool, I'll tell you that I don't believe you're inferior and shitty. I'm not in the business of feelings. I'm just stating facts. View them dispassionately, and if you don't like the conclusions, it's never too late to change your mind about things.

Understand that I know that I'm a Civ. Therefore the only two possibilities are that Scotty is bad, and he's working some great mojo against me... or that Scotty is Civ, and the baddies have done a great job fooling him. Either you are playin' chumps, or you are gettin' played, Scotty. If you're playing chumps, then you probably don't feel inferior or shitty right now, because it's going pretty well. Hmm... well, less well than before Soneji and Mac got lynched, but whatever.

The important thing is, if you are getting played, and if that's a condition that might trigger some negative emotions, the only thing I can tell you is: stop getting played. Let's lynch someone who's not me today. Snow Dog changed his mind about me because he can see the truth in my posts, I implore you to do the same.

I'm going to try and have a look at Mac's posts and make some notes to post before the night is over. Scotty, I'm sorry I was harsh, it only stemmed from a frustration that came from an honest place.
Hey man, I'm sorry I may have lashed out as well. I'm a little on edge for RL reasons and I'm doing my best not to let that leak into thread.

My biggest concern going forward is not that I feel like I've been chumped, but that I have certain hang ups on certain people (MM being a prime example). I dont want to give the mafia credit until end game on whether or not I've been played. When I'm confident on something and it is revealed that I was wrong i either get the wind in my sails knocked out or I start getting snippy (or whatever it is my emotions are :sigh: ). I'd like to think, for instance, that you are bad and I'm not getting played. Because I won't know if I'm getting played until I'm getting played, so sometimes I just have to play my own game, ya dig?

I don't know whether that eliminated the pirates or not but I do feel like we're in a good place even if we have 1 mislynch right now.
Solid, sounds bro to me. First round's on me after the game. Let's wait and see if there are one or two nightkills tonight to decide how affordable a mislynch is. :srsnod:

That's a weird thing to say. I never claimed that. I have taken full responsibility for every single time that someone has stated why they read me as bad, either by explaining why they're wrong, or by owning up to it.
You claimed that by making the assertion that the only way for Scotty to not be civ and to be reading you as a baddie is if the baddies have done a "great job" fooling him. You really think the baddies had to have done a great job at fooling anyone into thinking you're bad if you aren't? (you are)
(no I'm not)

Actually, I was thinking that the baddies have done a great job of convincing him that they are Civs, not that I am bad. A surfeit of Civ reads is the problem people are having with this game. It's been discussed.

Well done LC. lol when all else fails, use a banana.

But here's the thing...

I stand by my vote and still think you could still be bad. That you saved yourself and killed a pirate tells me nothing because I already thought you were a cannibal, which is why I voted you over Mac in the first place.

From what I have seen modkills don't really happen here so BR not having much time to play isn't very convincing for why they'd pull this, even if modkills were more common using the "inactives didn't send in their kill" logic to lynch anyone outside their faction would have been the more optimal move. All the BR lynch accomplished for them in that case is getting Epi offed.

MM, to my remembrance, seemed fine with the BR lynch based on personal experience of being part of a mafia team that failed to send in their NK.
I did mention something like that. I said a team of 5 with some players who are often fairly active (including myself) managed to miss a nightkill, so really anyone can.

But Epignosis called BR out specifically, so I followed suit.

I have shown you some real deduction and linked you to a series of posts that were, in actuality, way worse-looking than I expected when I started to look into it. Voting for me is hurtful to the Civs, so why not join me in a way more sensible and supported vote for Macdougall?

*votes Macdougall*
Oh yeah, obviously he was civ. Obviously, if you were bad.
Excuse me? How about "obviously he was Civ because Llama accidentally posted his role when he was nightkilled, and that role was a Civilian one". FUCK, Scotty!
You go through the trouble of posting these names and their post count during the night and then come back on the next page and contemplate if I missed a kill? Nonono mojito. As you can see, i was active and wouldn't have missed a kill. I also wouldn't have killed MM. Your rainbow list is self serving and I feel like you're just scraping by.
Sorry that I'm trying to figure the game out. Most people understand that's a Civ thing to do. Baddies are sure, Civvies are unsure. It's called the game of Mafia. Self-serving, my ass.

In some cases, but not all. The Pirates win together. The Cannibals win together. Herman Toothrot and The Head of the Navigator can win with the Cannibals. The rest of the civilians have to be alive to win.

After Soneji's lynch (Scotty voted for me):
Scotty wrote:Well there ya go! Good goin, Soneji voters!

My vote doesn't look great in retrospect unless LC is bad.

I think MM is definitely a pirate based on that flip. His reluctance to acknowledge the case on Soneji seems really wishy washy.
As I know I'm Civ, Scotty's vote "doesn't look so great in retrospect". And our hindsight on MM's Civvieness shows that this "definitely a pirate" accusation is weak and manipulative at best.
Metalmarsh89 wrote:Nice job you guys!

Not the most ideal, but still good.
:evileye: What would be more ideal than lynching a baddie, hmm?
... and this was also weak, acting like he had caught MM in some sort of slip.

And earlier than that, after I carefully analyzed his suspicion of me (which required a bit of cajoling to even get a little clarification on), he didn't even respond of acknowledge my rebuttal. Even though I clearly still wasn't sure what he was really accusing me of, and wanted him to clarify more.

I must be the world's biggest idiot to be saying this stuff about Scotty when he's still got a vote out there and I kind of need his vote to save my ass. :haha: But hey, you asked... if I'm right about him, then maybe the Civs can win after all.

This is some of the first stuff I've seen about me that actually makes sense to me. I appreciate that you brought it up, though your timing is not that cool - I would have liked to have a chance to discuss these suspicions before I was already vote-leader in a lynch.
One thing that stands out from memory was your certainty that zebra was bad. When I questioned you about that certainty you seemed to back right off her and drop it.

I didn't really have much on her beyond that she was acting sketchy. :shrug2: You asked me "What makes you so sure other than her wacky playstyle this game?" and there was nothing else that stood out. I didn't back off her and drop it though - I said "maybe I'm wrong" because I didn't want to give the impression that it was more than "her wacky playstyle". If I had redone my rainbow list after, she would have still been on or near the bottom.
I thought that was more than odd. Also one of your early posts pinged me. The one about expecting to take votes for being helpful.

Well, that's still a lot less suspicion than I've gotten in other games where I say nothing and do some role analysis. Hell, I've been lynched on Day 1 for it before. It's not the first time I've said that, and it probably won't be the last. Just remember next time that it didn't come from a deceitful place, and that you need not be pinged by it next time because I did it this time as a Civ. At least do that for me.
Also there is another thing. :dark:

That other thing could be wrong. But other than that I think these are the civs...

Zebra
Vompatti
Dr Wilgy
Scotty

And these

I am less sure

Long Con
Mac

So according to this it's just you and Mac. This completely falls apart if I am wrong about the civs. But this is how I figured it, by finding the civs.
You think there are only two baddies left? There are two Cannibals and two Pirates that are unaccounted for, aren't there? That makes your Civ list disturbingly optimistic at best. Or... maybe you are the last member left on one of those teams, and so you are a bit more confident that only two other baddies are left? I don't really have much fire left in my belly at this point to be pointing fingers and making accusations, but that one makes some sense at least.

For the sake of self-improvement, here's my advice: I'm a Civ, so you might as well start believing it now so you don't miss opportunities to hone your game. So look at your Civ list again. You are going to find out that (I estimate roughly) two of those people in that list have totally fleeced you. Analyze why you think they are Civ... maybe take some notes. That way, when this game is done, you'll be better equipped to see through their lies in the future, and you won't have to vote for me because you trust me too much. :suspish:

I don't see either of those accusations being fake.

Sig made a gutread that you are bad, and was subsequently nightkilled. That doesn't make him civ, but the odds are in his favor.
Actually, you bringing it up makes it a lot more likely that you are bad. You killed sig in the hopes that everyone would come to the conclusion that I did it because he suspected me. Since that didn't happen, you, slightly frustrated, just tried to push that agenda. We've all seen it before, and here it is happening.
Scotty made a reasonable point.
I don't recall that happening, which point was that? I recall his last point against me having no real point to it at all, and when I asked him to clarify, he didn't - or couldn't - give any reply at all.
I wasn't connecting sig's death to your alignment. I said that sig was killed right after he said a thing, and so since he was nightkilled, there's a decent chance he's a civilian, and that what he says is sincere.
My mistake then, I thought you were connecting sig's death to my alignment. I see now your point was that "sig was killed right after he said a thing" (which is fucking odd to say but I'll be the only one to notice that), and that you think that increases the chances of his sincerity. Getting nightkilled, whether one "said a thing" or not, generally increases the likelihood that one is Civ. IF sig was Civ, then his statements still bear the inherent and vital weaknesses that I pointed out, and that just makes him forgetful, presumptive, just plain wrong, or a number of other things that aren't baddie in nature.

YOUR agreement with statements that carry those glaring flaws is what reflects badly on you.
I pointed out that your statement is inaccurate. Rather than prove otherwise, you're attempting to flip this around on me. Do you still think that Scotty and sig made fake and meaningless accusations?
I already discussed those statements: sig here (and further here), and Scotty's accusation I just posted about in adequate detail. To answer your question: yes.

No, you highlighted some text, and then laid a couple of quotes from me down, and then did a :ponder: smiley. I said "...and?", prompting you to make a point somewhere, and you did not.
The point is that it was hypocritical...
What is hypocritical about it?

If the point is that I cast a vote on a third player when two already had a vote, and then told everyone else not to spread it out more... if you call that hypocritical, I guess I can't argue, although I don't think that's such a grievous sin. I was still playing a bit after I voted, and I realized that spreading out the votes is a good way to make it easy for the baddies to control the lynch. Maybe if it had occurred to me before I voted, then I would have stuck with one of the top two contenders instead. This point I would understand, but I don't think that's the point you're making... when you clarify as little as possible, these unsureties tend to crop up.

If the point is that I said I think zebra is bad, and voted her, and then agreed with her on Soneji... that is not hypocritical at all. There are two baddie teams, and they want to kill each other. Even more than that, they really want to hunt down and lynch each other! It looks really good when you spearhead the lynch of a baddie. Baddies want to look good.

When I agreed with zebra's analysis of Soneji, it didn't mean that I suddenly trusted that zebra was Civ, it meant that I looked at the points zebra brought up and analyzed them myself, and found that I agreed they were suspicious.

I'm still nowhere near sure if that's the point you were making, because of the yellow text: "When you just smile and agree with a suspicion that doesn't really stand up past being a mid-level gut feel, it just makes you look bad.". Here's a link to your post for those playing along at home.

The yellow text doesn't connect to anything else you said, I don't know why you would try to act like it does. Are you trying to say that, when I agreed with zebra's analysis of Soneji, I was agreeing with a suspicion that's, at most, a mid-level gut feel? If that's the point, then you're just plain wrong and it's not hard to correct you. Zebra pointed out two specifically contradictory passages in Soneji's recent posts, and thought that was a suspicious thing to do. Zebra's accusation was in no way a gut feel of any level, it was a direct analysis of Soneji's posts.
...and by your own admission suspicious.
I looked through my posts and found no point where I had an admission of suspiciousness. The closest thing I can find is when I agreed that I said an odd thing. Odd doesn't mean suspicious, and if you care to check out the context a little deeper, you'll see that I am not in any way trying to imply that it was suspicious.
That, layered with your flip flopping point I made a few days ago, is suspicious as shit to me.
I think you mean this... "layered with" is an interesting choice of words. I prefer "referring to the same quote in order to say the same faulty thing in a different way", but to each his own. I covered this earlier this post, and to point you right to it, I pinked up "If the point is" at the beginning of the paragraph.
