Bat, Interrupted

Batman crouched on a third-floor ledge across from the Tadashi Building, eyes trained through a heat-detecting scanner at the second floor. He could see several people moving around inside, their bodies glowing red against the neutral blue backdrop. One body lay unmoving on the ground, a much cooler temperature than the rest. Batman narrowed his eyes. Murderers... he thought in disgust, and leapt out into the air, easily tossing a grappling rope and swinging across above the quiet street.
Stealthily sliding in through an ajar window, he turned on his sonic radar and began listening to the men on the floor below.
"Ha! He wasn't so tough after all!"
"Yeah, I thought this guy was s'posed to be some sorta supervillain or somethin'!"
"Nah, he was just a psycho 'sall. Nothin' super goin' on here, unless his power is super-bleedin'!"
"Creepy bastard. At least we can let Falcone know he can breathe a little easier..."
A scuffling noise behind Batman surprised him, and he spun to see two thugs, guns trained on him. His hand went for his batarangs, but one thug started to squeeze the trigger, and he relaxed his hand. "Well well well, what do we have here? The Bat himself!" Without looking behind him, he called out to a third thug. "Vinnie! Go tell the boss what we got here!" Vinnie took another frightened look at Batman, and nodded and scampered away.
"So, Batman," the thug taunted. "Any last words?"
Just then, a small red light began to flash on Batman's wrist, and he gritted his teeth. "No..." He looked up to the ceiling. "Not him. Not now."
"Who-" the thug began to speak, but a red and blue blur crashed through the ceiling and swept up the two thugs before they could react. Batman turned and ran through the door and out over a railing, leaping down the the second floor, but by the time he had landed, all the thugs were tied up in some loose cable, struggling in confusion. Floating above them, almost godlike, was Superman.
"I was just passing by," he said, his voice strong and virtuous. "Looked like you could use a hand."
"I had it handled," snapped Batman angrily.
Superman raised his eyebrows. "Are you sure? Those two guys-"
"I had the situation under control!" Batman cut him off. "I could have used them, tracked them back to the man in charge - this could have been a huge break in the case!" He glared at Superman through the holes in his cowl.
Superman shook his head in mild exasperation. "You never thank me." With that, he flew off in a streak into the night, leaving Batman standing over a dead sabie12 and some struggling thugs, police sirens drawing near.
