Re: Random~

DharmaHelper wrote:Happy Christmas to you and yours Rob.

I'm not half as poetic nor do I have anything quite as monumental to share, but this Christmas did mark a very special moment, for me at least.

Today for the first time in 23 years I made my mother Christmas dinner. We ate beef stroganoff and hot bread, with mashed potatoes. I made strawberry salad, and Aces made a lemon cheesecake. It's small, and by no stretch elegant, but just recalling it now I'm moved to tears, genuinely. I love my mother very much and I tell her every day, but today I was given a rare opportunity to show her instead. I'm very proud of the meal we made for her, but the thing I'm proudest of is that she didn't lift a finger today. She did teach me how to cut green onions though.

I share this with you all because I love my family more than myself. And in no small part you too are my family. A lesson I learned today is that no act of love is small, because by its very nature love is vast and infinite and beautiful. I'm happy.

Merry Christmas. Love.
Kudos DH!

My mother still cooked dinner on Christmas Eve and breakfast the following morning for all 5 of her kids. But this year, I saved her some time and did Christmas Eve lunch for the family, and acorn squash soup. The siblings were a little tentative to try something "weird", but it turned out well. :P

Both games I've hosted so far broke posting records, featured mechanics/powers that caught people off guard, went to Lylo, and featured one living player at the end. True to form, I doubt I would have enjoyed playing either of them, so I can't pick a favorite. :p
Ugh, RED vs. BLUE was a heart-wrenching loss, but immensely fun to play. I think high post counts in games point to players (or at least the high-volume posters) having fun. :P

Re: Random~

Favorite Syndicate game? Oh man, that's a toughy. Death Note is definitely in the top 3 on that list.

The most recent Game of Champions was pretty epic too, and kinda ridiculous. I managed to win as a neutral vanilla survivor. XD

And to round out the top 3: Hmm...... It's tough to pick a game where I lost. I'd probably go Talking Heads for one of my better civ performances, and an epic game all-around.

Best game I hosted? I'd go Tree Mafia. That had the best civilian comeback I've ever seen. Diiny, motel room, and MP had the civilians in LYLO with all three being alive, and MacDougall and Floyd (among others) pulled off the upset. It was incredible!

Bourbon doesn't give me hangovers and I can drink a lot of it without really getting drunk, just buzzed. It's weird, because it's the only liquor that effects me like that. Scotch and gin give me terrible hangovers, so does rum. I don't really drink vodka much, and tequila is the devil so I stay away from it.
That's how I feel with red wine. No hangovers, just a real healthy buzz.

I also sip it, like everything I drink.

Last night I was watching TV when I heard some guy running up and down the hall screaming "help me! help me!" I was about to go out, when I heard the police arrive. Shortly thereafter, and ambulance pulled up and one of the paramedics said "It's down the hall on the right. You'll see the blood." Whenever "you'll see the blood" is useful in giving directions, it's not a good sign. I never really found out what happened, but there is no visible blood in the hallways today and the leasing office assures me everything is fine. Rob's not the only one with crazy violence outside his door!
Speaking of violent neighbors, my excellent ol' neighbor who liked to sleep on his roof with a shotgun sold his house and moved about a month ago. I haven't met the new neighbors yet, but I'm moving in a couple weeks, so I'm excited for that. :D

I bought a new bike yesterday!

I bought it from a fellow on craigslist. After meeting up with him and telling him I'd like to buy it, he told me he didn't accept check. So I found an ATM, got some cash, and paid him for the bike. I then rode my new bike all the way home (maybe 5 mile ride). Upon getting home, I realized I had left my house keys in my gym locker at school. I rode back to school to get it, but then remembered that I didn't have a lock to lock my bike up. Then I went to a bike store to buy a cheap lock. That's when I discovered that I had left my debit card in the ATM I had visited earlier. Luckily, I still had some cash on hand, so I bought the lock, got my keys from my locker, then went home.

In the end, I've got a new road/touring bike I'm very excited about.

There are definitely students who do just sleep in or miss it for other reasons, but there are always extraneous circumstances like what I encountered too.
