Scotty's recent posts responding to SVS give me pause on him. He says that he doesn't see eye-to-eye with SVS, but on the other hand, his responses are very conciliatory in a way that he's kind of accepting what SVS is saying, which doesn't strike me as a response I would expect from him towards a player that he doesn't see eye-to-eye with. I would expect a little more challenging of viewpoints.
It could just be Scotty attempting to have good faith discussions after SVS accused him of the opposite, but that's not my gut impression.

I feel pretty solid about the upper half of this list. Nutella I could still see being wrong on, but I'm very content with a townread there for now.

I do like some of falcon's earlier observations and questions. He didn't seem to be rushing conclusions or have an agenda. Some of his later posts on Day 1 seem more like busy work: asking people questions and telling them to explain their reads. That's a bit less good.

The Thunal point in particular: the conclusion does not match the observation at all. No thought was given to this read, ergo wolfy.

I get what you're saying about Thunal, Scotty. I don't entirely agree with you, as a I think forgetting reads is a fairly common thing (it is for me anyway), particularly reads I haven't put a lot of thought/time into.
That's not to say she's town, I just think that particular part of the case is not a wolfy point.
I'm kinda curious now why Syn struggled to decide who was wolfier in the difference check he mentioned between you/Thual.

The one thing that gives me pause about Thunal is that I know she has a fairly logical brain, and that approach does translate to mafia to some extent, and it's possible that approach is just not as obvious of a town vibe.
If you look at her iso and at each post as a separate segment it seems like surface thought is being written into each paragraph. Posts *should* have thought, right? so that in and of itself isn’t wolfy. But it’s the *way* she’s saying the thoughts that are giving off vibes of having a pulse on the game while not making any residual or spicy reads. Im not convinced she truly believes her progressions.
I just dare anyone to read her iso in succession and see if they can at least see a smidgeon of what I’m seeing. I don’t think she

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
Spoiler: show
I don't care for this reversal on Epi that Thunal did on Day 1. She reversed her read again later. I know Thunal has been maintaining that this sort of thing is much more likely for her to do as town, but that doesn't make it town.
I get that Epi made posts after his original vote that could lead to a reversal, but these two observations have the opposite read about the same event: Epi insta-voting.
And then after her next reversal:
Spoiler: show
She's not wrong that Epi doesn't seem to have an agenda, but his takes aren't very compelling.
Spoiler: show
Dizzy didn't even look mean. He was just a carefree bundle of joy. Also this read has now been proven wrong.
I don't think Epi cares about pushing his reads. He just has them. I want to feel compelled to believe Epi when I read his cases, even if I disagree with them, but I just don't.
Also he just sat on the sidelines when nutella and Lime Coke were going at it.
Epi and Thunal could very well be paired, but I voted Epi because I think he's more likely to be a wolf, and he doesn't care about the roof. Thunal I have an easier time seeing as town, even if she isn't doing her tell.

From Thunal's POV, Syn would not know that Scotty is a wolf, but this statement is made suggesting Syn might do a thing knowing that Scotty was a wolf.

This feels very consistent with your defense against Scotty right now, in that you're making a similar argument for how I'm town and for how you're town. Namely that wolves like progressions and that you're saying you and I didn't do that.
It feels weird. I don't know if I can put my finger on why, it might be that I'm worried you're arguing for v!me in order to support an argument for v!Thunal (especially after I flip town), which itself is pretty wolfy.

I was thinking the same thing earlier when Scotty mentioned that, but I don't think it's AI.

Thunal is a huge blind spot to me, mainly because we've had zero live interactions, so she's a priority reread for me today when I get the chance.
Epi and Rico have moved into my basement and I'm ready to start charging rent.
Scotty I'm still wary of for the LC read, but I think in the end he's probably just town.
We only have two mischops left, so we need a correct POE of four players at this point.
Well
I don’t think we should ever yeet Rico today. We need to find his partner first if he is bad, and he needs to participate. If he goes and he is town…well…we might as well be throwing the baby water out with the bathtub, as they say
I agree with the general reasoning, and I think it most applies Day 1. But it also isn't a slot I would feel comfortable hinging the game in LYLO on chopping, if the level of activity keeps up.
Also I'm not saying that we should chop him today, I'm just saying I'm now open to the possibility, whereas yesterday I wasn't.
this insistence by multiple players to just phone it in and chop someone who isn't even playing is really quite baffling. surely we are capable of better
I don't think we're just going to sleepwalk into a Rico chop, we're just discussing it as an option.
Do you think that he is null or better at this point?
To me, this also stems from a history of playing with Rico. He has been an extremely solid and active player for years. In one game, he even posted 100's of nothingposts just to reach 1,000 in a game. In Secret Playerlist last year, he came and participated to a great extent as a nonplayer (and even trolled a bit). Yes there is a decent chance he just forgot about this game, or has zero interest in playing mafia and signed up for raisins? but his vote at EOD looks more like a wolf in such a scenario than it does town in that scenario.
We might not chop him today, but we're not going to just ignore him either.

Tbh, I thought Scotty was the other PR based on his reaction to Lime Coke, but that theory was wrong.DrWilgy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 5:37 pm Lime Coke is nowhere to be found! Lime Coke was the Bloodsealer's Skeletal!
Dizzy also never appeared the following morning. Dizzy was the Bloodsealer!
You have 48 hours to deliberate and find who did this! End of Day will be an hour later than normal because of my own awareness issues. Poll should be good to go now. Remember votes are locked and hammer is at 5. I will only count the first vote in the thread, but please have your vote in the poll match.
Spoiler: show
But at least now I don't have to pretend like that's the case, now that this game is almost mountainous.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
If Rico flips town, we go into day 2 in very much the same state we would leave day 1 in, and that's a non-optinal situation.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
[VOTE:
Seanzie] aubergine
Spicy vote.
Syn and LC are both voting him and two of my stronger townreads, yes I'm voting another townread. This is a weird game and I'm not confident in many vote options so I'm going here.
I'm stuck in urgent care getting a minor finger injury looked at so can't stick around or wait to vote.
Glgl
(Also need to make sure LC doesn't accidentally die)

I don't think it's obvious at all tbh, you acknowledged Sean's explanation of his townread, but still listed me as your probable vote for the day in your very next post.
Also, why did you just now change your mind about me? My flip on Scotty is probably my least explained read in the thread, and you think it's townier than all of the other wolfy things I've done? I don't get it.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
Like I said, this was not my intention, but my POE which I thought was reasonable 12 hours ago was blown to pieces after the nutella/LC discourse, and I haven't had time to piece together a new one.S~V~S wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 11:14 amI wasn’t trying to be snarky, and I’m sorry if I came across this way. I am somewhat disappointed that you seem to be resorting to low posters on Day One, a busy day one that has had a lot of discussion.
You pinged me early and nothing you’ve done since has made me feel better
I always try to do better, and I will be sorry if I’m wrong. You’re a person, not a “slot” imo, but I think what I think.
I was publicly sorting where I was at in that moment, and it happened to be that falcon/Rico were left in it. It might look bad in a vacuum to you, but it's just me showing my work of where I was at. My reads don't exist in a vacuum though, they've progressed throughout this whole day.
Anyway.
I'm obviously wrong somewhere and am trying to figure out where. Or I would if I had the time and the posts for it. Also, despite my previous disinclination to not vote Epi/Thunal/Dizzy, they've fallen into my POE because they're next on my list. I'm removing falcon for now because I think his recent posts are fairly townie.
@Seanzie not really a fan of chopping a 1-poster under the circumstances. I'd rather wait for a) him to post b) him to be modkilled c) him to be replaced.

You've got 9 posts left...this one hardly seems like a wise choice, given that you've said you want to be around for EOD (will be back to vote & things later), and especially as it's somewhat ambiguous
I don't want you to use a post responding to this one btw
When you're able, would you mind talking about your Sean & Syn certainty?
To put it simply, they're both kinda polarized players, and aren't in their wolf meta.
To put it more eloquently:
Sean has had a little bit of bite in his pressure (particularly on me) in this game. That's townie for him. He's made observations that look fairly believable to me. Probably the one knock on him that could be wolfy is that his signals of who he might vote seems performative, but I'm not putting much stock in that because of the locked votes mechanic in the game. Talking about votes == placing a pressure vote in this game.
Syn often plays like a background player, being overly critical of things that catches his eye, generally not engaging players in extended discourse, but rather watching stating the things as they come. He's making reads that are not necessarily consensus. These are things that are somewhat townie for players in general, as they focus more on game-solving rather than trying to appear townie. I think they're particularly true for Syn because my (probably obsolete) meta expectation of him as a wolf is that he's extremely stilted and has trouble saying things in a way that looks like he believes them. If someone has different experience with w!Syn, or one that's more recent than 2020, I would love to hear it.
---------
But tbh, I'm not interested in chopping anyone in that list of 4 towncore I mentioned, so I'm not really into talking about them beyond this unless they become a viable wagon.
Do you have any opinions/preferences on Dizzy/Thunal/Epi?

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
Svs, please do better, you seem to have settled into snarky jabs at me instead of giving any good faith arguments and you're not gonna catch wolves that way (and it'll feel worse when you're proven wrong)

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
That's not where I expected to be at this moment. I had LC, nutella and scotty there last night when I went to bed. LC is locktown now. Scotty is probably town. Nutella is still kinda poe but probably town as well.
I don't have time to redeliberate. But also I'm probably going to die today so it might not even matter, but it's for the best because I'll be pretty afk day 2 anyway
