I checked what happened on my last birthday, and apparently I killed you in Dr. Who.Spacedaisy wrote:That is crazy, I can't imagine someone intentionally killing another player simply because it's their birthday...S~V~S wrote:I have only heard people joke about the sign up thing, but I was told by someone that they did intentionally kill me on my birthday. That year I got killed in two games on my birthdayMovingPictures07 wrote:Seriously though, in all my years of playing across so many sites, I've never once participated in or heard of any baddie or other BTSC that even mentioned birthday curse or the sign-up/multiple games curse as reasons to go after anyone (because IMO either of those would be ridiculous and very unstrategic reasons to kill or gun after someone). So it's interesting that such theories exist and appear to persist (at least, in some observors' opinions).

SVS. When my next birthday comes around, you're going down.

Entertainment - to each his/her own.Epignosis wrote:It does, but I'm more interested in the discrepancies of the English translations.Metalmarsh89 wrote:If you enjoy subtitles, I'd recommend watching it in Japanese with English subtitles. Glad to hear it, Epi. I agree that the first episode really sucks you into the premise; it's a great episode. Although I won't deny the corniness. Lol.
I had the English subtitles on too, and the subtitles on Netflix are markedly different than the English audio, and some of the phrasing and word choice were awkward.
On another note. I walked into a local outdoor equipment store today, and Close to the Edge was playing. No joke.

Anime != cartoonsEpignosis wrote:I'm stuck at work after hours, so I just finished the first episode. I am intrigued. There's a certain corniness that pervades the "get-to-the-point" first episode, but I'm invested. And heck, the series is only 37 23-minute episodes, so it isn't even a big investment.MovingPictures07 wrote:Curious to hear your thoughts.Epignosis wrote:I'm going to start this on Netflix and see if it's worth sticking with.
I thought I might watch it with Eloh, but she hates cartoons.

This will be my first MP game
So much this!
That said, I tend to play more MP games than not, (I"ve missed what? 1? I think? Like ever?)
Sooo... I guess that means I have to play this one too. Much like Bioshock - I have no idea wtf about this theme. And it's a Sockface game so I'm sure I won't know if the WTF? is theme or sockface related, but what the hellz - in for a penny -in for a pound
I expect to be dead by D5 in this game but I'll have fun while it lasts!
Someone periodically remind me that I'm supposed to be working on my game k?

Re: [SIGN-UPs] Death Note Mafia
Apparently you can only read manga if you are Japanese, black, or a nerd.thellama73 wrote:Manga? What are you, some sort of nerd? :PMovingPictures07 wrote:For anyone interested and completely lacking in theme knowledge:
Death Note is a manga series and anime that follows the life of a high school student, Light Yagami, who discovers a supernatural notebook (Death Note) that grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose name and face they know. The series centers around Light's subsequent attempts to create and rule a world "cleansed of evil" as a god using the notebook, and the efforts of a detective known as L to stop him.
You'll inevitably get some experience with the theme throughout the game.![]()
But don't worry, absolutely NO knowledge is necessary to play and win.

I still haven't read Death Note, I will try to get around to it before this game begins though.

Something to bear in mind, all of you, when the next full game goes into signups.
